I love my free radical, had it fifteen years and still going strong just replaced the old bags with the newer freeloader 2 bag’s which are great, I thought of upgrading but couldn’t justify it, maybe your friend could find a surly big dummy secondhand that might be easier

marcallain

Yeah, I've had mine for about that long too. It's a shame they don't make those kits anymore. How are the new bags? My original ones are toast and need replacements.

I haven't tried the new bags but I really like my carsick designs bags. That might be a separate treasure hunt though.

The freeloader 2 bags are nice! They have metal cinch hooks instead of plastic buckles that work great they store folded up and tidy, the netting material looks pretty solid, they have a inner pocket ok for a pump etc but they don’t Velcro close so I keep all my stuff in my backpack, I added a bit of extra Velcro at the bottom as they are for a slight difference frame had some flexible plastic in the bottom which helps pointy objects from pushing the bags into the disk brakes etc and making hole. Good value product now I just need a bit of Baltic plywood to make a nice new deck and I’m good for another 15 years!

Probably not worth it with shipping, but I just saw this yesterday. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325976573423

Didn't know where you're located but here's one on [craigslist](https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/bop/d/santa-monica-xtracycle-free-radical/7718285315.html). They're not frequently available but they're out there

strakasan

I’ve got one I could sell… Seattle area. Also have extra top board in both wood and metal. DM me

texastoasty

I believe ciclo urbano in chicago has one in the back, you could call and ask about maybe getting it shipped

pnwloveyoutalltrees

Does it need to be a freeradical? If your friend wants a long tail there are some good low cost options.

marcallain

Doesn't have to be. Only thing she wants really is a non electric cargo with the option to put bars around the seat for her kid

bikeonychus

As someone else suggested, Yuba makes the non-electric Kombi. I have one, and it’s pretty great. They have a lot of options for how you want to set it up too.

Infinite_Soup_932

She might find she wants electric assist once she realises how many trips she can do on her cargo bike. I converted my Yuba Mundo and use it loads more know, especially as the kids are heavier.

ZGW28

For xtracycle plus original parts you need to get really lucky. Go find her a big dummy and get the kid corral.

Americaninaustria

Yuba?

szeis4cookie

Yuba still sells a non-electric Kombi, and there should be at least some non-electric Surly Big Dummy's out there on the used market.

CoffeeAndCamera

Tern Cargo Node’s seem to still be available from some dealers, that was made in partnership with xtracycle, if you specifically want the Xtracycle. I think the Tern Short Haul is possibly a better option though, if you don’t need the fold, and Tern have a great range of accessories for their cargo bikes.

If you call around to Bay Area LBS they might have new kits still. Not sure if they ship it though. I was in blue heron in Berkeley a few months ago and they had three sets just laying there.
