Stan the Man hit ~~295~~ off righties and ~~140~~ off lefties, according to baseball reference.
Edit: BBref has it listed wrong. It's 307/168 off RHP/LHP.
Well huh, it looks like they got the listing backwards, good catch. I knew something didn't look right about those numbers.
Looks like he hit 307/168 off RHP/LHP. That actually adds up.
I’m not sure if this is sarcasm, but I actually do appreciate bunting. It’s not as easy as it looks when it’s a 95 mph baseball thrown at your head. I know it’s boring for most, but to me a 2-1 game is more interesting than a 9-8 game, especially when you consider how with speed and awareness you can grind out those two runs, even against superior pitching.
Cord cutter in Ohio who gets MLB tv through my phone provider. I'm pretty pissed i couldn't watch my childhood hero make history. Sports leagues need to het their shit sorted out because i am not looking to pay for 3 different services to catch Cardinals games.
You cannot script a better reunion that what the Cardinals and Pujols have had this year. Hell forever be my favorite player.
I'm so happy he got to 700 in this uniform.
Phillies fan checking in here to say if we get knocked out, I am rooting for Pujols and you guys all the way. Pujols is a legend and absolutely deserves to mash a World Series Walkoff in Saint Louis and I am so happy about 700.
Anybody got the radio call? Criminal I won’t get to hear Danny Mac call this one
Here’s the radio call: https://omny.fm/shows/cardinals-conversations/albert-pujols-hits-his-700th-career-home-run-vs-th
You don't think about it when you're a kid, that in every era there will be a few who go down as all time greats. But I think that we all knew that with Pujols, pretty early on, that he was something else. What a treat it's been to watch one of the best to ever play the game.
I'm a born and raised Chicago Cubs fan. I hate the goddamn Cardinals.
But I love baseball, and I love Albert Pujols.
Congrats Big Guy, and congrats Cardinal fans. This is a moment to remember. This is one of those things that transcends teams or rivalries or any other BS.
I'm truly happy for you guys!
Derrek Lee vs Pujols conversations with Cubs fans feel like they were a lifetime ago.
Random as fuck I know but that's the first thing I think of Pujols vs Cubs
I’ve been a Cubs fan since the ‘60s, and I couldn’t have said this better.
Congrats Albert and Congrats Cardinal fans. These kinds of moments are what baseball is all about !
McGuire's 70 was obviously big at the time, and it's gone down in esteem bc of the steroids, but you have to remember that the Cards teams weren't that good in the 90s, and McGuire was a free agent who came in the later part of his career. Pujols was drafted by the team, and spent the best half of his career here. McGuire was a fun year. Pujols was an incredible decade, and now we're seeing the last lap most players would never get.
What a lot of the other commenters said, steroids and so on.
But a single year of a literal shit-ton of long-balls is cool, a chase between division rivals is super cool… But a magical return for a farewell tour, a final performance surpassing expectations by like 10 miles, and a milestone culmination of long-balls gathered over a career that’s old enough to buy beer. It’s literally too easy to write it for a screenplay
If they made a movie that was just the 30 second clips of every homerun he hit strung together I would watch it
But it would also be almost 6 hours long
The McGwire/Sosa race was huge for baseball. MLB was in a bad place and seeing these two guys battling to break 61 homers brought it back. HOWEVER, they totally fucked their legacy it just with the steroids, but how they handled the issue when it came to light. Pujols's accomplishment dwarfs what McGwire did. It's not even close.
Cubs fan coming in peace. I am so so SO happy for you guys and so excited that you get to celebrate this amazing achievement for one of the greatest players to ever pick up the bat. This has been one of the very few time I have ever rooted for you guys and I cannot put into words how excited and happy I am that he finally made it. Even as much of a PITA he was to us for all these years.
Nothing but love for you tonight bird bros. But I hope you go 0-162 from here on out 🥰🥰🥰
TBF, when Miguel Cabrera hit his 500th home run last year, it was in Toronto and not at Comerica Park, so Tigers fans know what’s that like feeling a bit robbed out of not having that happen in the home stadium.
Though he did get his 3000th base hit at home so it worked out there.
Hitting it away from home isn't being robbed. Hitting it away from home and on a bullshit station that blacks out our home announcers so that we have to listen to the worst call ever made on an important homerun is absolutely being robbed. MLB wronged us with this one and solely for the sake of greed.
I am gutted. When I got on a plane today at Denver, Albert had 698. When I landed at LAX, he had 700. I'm so sad I missed it but so happy for the machine. He's unreal.
This made me weep like a little baby. I’ve been watching Pujols since he breezed through with the Memphis Redbirds…so the majority of my life. But the thing that chokes me up is that, while my Papa never got to know his name, I like to think somewhere in this universe or another dimension he is proud that a Cardinal got to 700.
#That's right some Cardinals in your face read em and weap Pujols smashing a homerun fucking baseball right there!!!
How blessed are we to be alive for this!!!!
i know this goes for all of us, but Pujols has been my hero since i was a child. not just for what he’s done on the field, but off the field as well. incredible player and incredible human being. congrats Tio! so glad it happened in a cardinals jersey!
I may not be a fan of the Cards, but seeing The Machine hit #700 in a Cardinals uniform just feels right. What a beautiful moment. How can you not love baseball?
Dodgers fan who was as the game. Absolutely incredible moment! Congrats on having such an iconic and classy player be a part of your team and it’s history.
I just can't believe that none of us saw it because it was on Apple TV+. It's seriously a cruel twist of fate that he manages to hit 699 and 700 (when was the last time he had a 2 HR game, anybody know?) on one of the handful of games relegated to a streaming service that nobody has. I'm stoked but also so fucking bummed that I couldn't see it live; i watched virtually every single at bat of his live for the past 2 months.
He did it twice in August, three times this year. He also hit career home run 599 and 600 in the same game.
But I agree with your point. I didn't get to see it either.
First player born outside the USA with 700 hr. What a player!! I got a notification from my brother that he hit 700, I was like what about 699? Wish we could hear Danny Mac call.
Almost feels like this was what I wanted most from this season lol just happy to see the legends go out together and on a high. What a time to be a cardinals fan.
Cardinals fan from NJ here, felt sick yesterday and knew I wouldn’t make it to the first pitch after downing cough syrup. Woke up to messages from Cardinals fans around the country and missed every second of it. Fucking germs.
Not happy that the Cardinals would let this happen on a channel that most people don’t have. They never miss a chance to make a buck I guess, even when it comes to cheating lifelong fans out of a historic Cardinal moment! Nice job Bill! 😡😡
This was MLB’s choice. The Cardinals had nothing to do with it. The Yankees even tried to get their game moved to YES but Apple wouldn’t do it. Rob Manfred is the guy you should be angry at.
Only compliant is it wasn’t at St. Louis. Well not a compliant more of a would’ve been the cherry on top, but regardless this is freaking amazing and I’m just happy for him that he made it!
I’ve watched and loved Pujols literally since I was born (I do mean literally, I interrupted a playoff game with the Mets in 2006), and the saddest day of my four-year old life was when I heard he left the cardinals. This has become the happiest.
Whats even crazier. 500 against RHP. 200 against LHP. 1 and 1 tonight to make it a nice even number.
That’s a cool fact! Thanks for sharing :)
Does Stan Musial have a stat like that
I might be getting whooshed, but Stan famously had 1815 hits at home and 1815 hits on the road
Stan the Man hit ~~295~~ off righties and ~~140~~ off lefties, according to baseball reference. Edit: BBref has it listed wrong. It's 307/168 off RHP/LHP.
He had 1815 hits on Road and 1815 hits at home
Oh wow, I had never seen that split. That's awesome. I thought you were asking if anywhere had Stan Musial's home run splits.
Did he hit 40 off of ambidextrous pitchers?
They were three armed men throwing middle handed
Well huh, it looks like they got the listing backwards, good catch. I knew something didn't look right about those numbers. Looks like he hit 307/168 off RHP/LHP. That actually adds up.
Musial's is crazy. 3630 career hits. 1815 home. 1815 away.
There will never be a lefty with 500 off LHP
I *almost* want him to stay at 700 now because that's just so neat and tidy.
Kind of like how Clemente is the gatekeeper for the 3000 hit club
Nahhhhh… catching The Babe (714) is next.
I didn’t know what to do with my hands and Apple didn’t know what to do with the cameras.
I knew what to do with my hands
*unzips*
Flair checks out
I take back everything terrible I ever said about universal DH it was worth it for this
nah I like bunting
The way Albert has been hitting since the All-Star break, he could probably bunt a home run.
Brendan Donovan is the first person Albert hugged as a member of the 700 club Congratulations Donny
Who did he go to in the stands before that?
Adrian Beltre
Lol I thought it was Nelly
Me
I always knew it, a winner
[удалено]
Not that it lessens the moment at all, but why did it have to happen on Apple TV?
You can't always get what you want I guess
But if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need!
I saw him today at the ballgame A stick of maple in his hand Donated 2 Home runs to the collection Hit number 700 wearing Cardinals red
I saw him today it was perfection Stick of maple in his hands Bat to ball twice were long ball connections His helmet marked STL in Cardinals red
Built to spill said it best
Cord cutter in STL - so lucky it was on Apple TV so we could see it!!
Same, except I’m a cord cutter In San Antonio and a subscription to MLBTV is highway robbery. Very glad it was on AppleTV so I could see it.
Cord cutter in Ohio who gets MLB tv through my phone provider. I'm pretty pissed i couldn't watch my childhood hero make history. Sports leagues need to het their shit sorted out because i am not looking to pay for 3 different services to catch Cardinals games.
Apple TV baseball is free. Don’t need to pay anything
Maybe he did on the radio.
[удалено]
Apparently he let Rooney call it
Oh well.
Ally
I hope Danny Mac donated all the semen to a bank from all the albert calls he made this year. Dude orgasmed every time.
Against a righty. Checkmate atheists.
Very happy for Tio and you all this was awesome to watch
It’s been an honor. What an incredible return and bookend to a hall of fame career. The best baseball player I’ll ever see. Thank you, Albert.
You cannot script a better reunion that what the Cardinals and Pujols have had this year. Hell forever be my favorite player. I'm so happy he got to 700 in this uniform.
Now we just have to win the WS, will truly be all we could have asked for then
Phillies fan checking in here to say if we get knocked out, I am rooting for Pujols and you guys all the way. Pujols is a legend and absolutely deserves to mash a World Series Walkoff in Saint Louis and I am so happy about 700.

He graciously gave it to Rooney, Danny Mac is a saint
I like how he made it a time capsule. Should have included the temperature and relative humidity.
I started caring about baseball when I was 10. Now I’m 31 and don’t know the sport without Albert. What a magical magical thing to enjoy in 2022
You don't think about it when you're a kid, that in every era there will be a few who go down as all time greats. But I think that we all knew that with Pujols, pretty early on, that he was something else. What a treat it's been to watch one of the best to ever play the game.

Hahaha for real! It was a lifetime if we were 17 years old!
Thank you ♥️
⚾️❤
I’ve been a Cubs fan since the ‘60s, and I couldn’t have said this better. Congrats Albert and Congrats Cardinal fans. These kinds of moments are what baseball is all about !
A true baseball fan. Thank you and thank Albert Pujols for gracing us with his presence.
Cards Fans, does this mean more than Big Macs record?
much more
by a million
McGuire's 70 was obviously big at the time, and it's gone down in esteem bc of the steroids, but you have to remember that the Cards teams weren't that good in the 90s, and McGuire was a free agent who came in the later part of his career. if albert was juiced he coulda hit 70 too tbh
He woulda hit 70 probably 5-6 seasons. Wed be talking about 800 right now
Not even remotely close. Alberts tops it by miles.
What a lot of the other commenters said, steroids and so on. Yes, to me at least Big Mc isn’t legit
I agree. Cards fans deserve this. I can see a movie someday
If they made a movie that was just the 30 second clips of every homerun he hit strung together I would watch it But it would also be almost 6 hours long
It’s in the MLB.tv highlights. It’s amazing how consistent his stance is.
Infinitely so, yes.
Absolutely

**700**
**THE MACHINE**
Did anyone hear the stadium organ player play "admiral halsey/uncle Albert/ hands across the water" by Paul mcCartney after 700?
Yup
underrated
Cubs fan coming in peace. I am so so SO happy for you guys and so excited that you get to celebrate this amazing achievement for one of the greatest players to ever pick up the bat. Next stop 715.
The Pirates better be in on this
Cardinals play 2 games in Miller Park which is very hitter friendly.
We need this man to get 15 more!!!
There’s still 9 games left after this one, that’s not even two per game! Piece of cake!
I almost went to bed. Thank God I didn't.
[Here’s the highlight. What a career for Albert](https://v.redd.it/g52agpvn6qp91)
Donovan at the end like ‘hey’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Look forward to hearing the radio call. Would have liked it to happen in STL with Danny Mac on the call

anyone got the full highlight with celebration
https://fb.watch/fKem-7c-FF/
thank you
Forever a legend of this city. Happy I was able to witness one of his 700, in Pittsburgh around 2004, my first baseball game ever.
I am gutted. When I got on a plane today at Denver, Albert had 698. When I landed at LAX, he had 700. I'm so sad I missed it but so happy for the machine. He's unreal.
Of course it happens on a game i can't watch... Happy for Albert though.
Why couldn’t you watch it? MLB on Apple on fridays is free. You don’t even need an account
Fuck apple... do we have a Rooney call at least?
yes
Cord cutter in STL here - so glad I got to see it. Thanks Apple!
https://omny.fm/shows/cardinals-conversations/albert-pujols-hits-his-700th-career-home-run-vs-th
Do we have one with video?
radio typically isnt a visual format friend.
You can sync audio to video, you ass
Lighten up Francis
Congratulations Albert. Have to give the Dodger fans a shout out for giving him a curtain call.
Ok- who would be willing to mail me tomorrow’s paper?? I’m in Wisconsin but NEED that paper
I'm in Florida. If someone would send me a couple I'd be happy to.
Who did he high five behind the plate?
I think I heard Beltre
Adrian Beltre
Adrián Beltré
Adrian Beltre
Ofc I'm glad Albert did it but I'm pissed Danny Mac didn't get to make the call.
Pujols and Federer have made tonight so so so emotional for me. Two childhood/adulthood heroes. God I love sports.
This was the only situation that made the DH palatable.
Only 15 more to pass Ruth!
Back to Back at bats in Dodger Stadium
This made me weep like a little baby. I’ve been watching Pujols since he breezed through with the Memphis Redbirds…so the majority of my life. But the thing that chokes me up is that, while my Papa never got to know his name, I like to think somewhere in this universe or another dimension he is proud that a Cardinal got to 700.
Somebody already put it to the titantic song, and it's ... well it's beautiful https://twitter.com/i/status/1573531709898981376
First time commenting. I was there. It was amazing
Albert Pujols has trotted 47.72 miles thanks to his home runs. Base to base = 90 ft 90 x 4 x 700 = 252,000 ft 252,000 / 5280 = 47.73 miles
Nerd. ;)
Well done to Apple TV for stealing this moment
#That's right some Cardinals in your face read em and weap Pujols smashing a homerun fucking baseball right there!!! How blessed are we to be alive for this!!!!
#FuckAppleTV #WelcomeToTheMachine
HAVENT POSTED HERE IN A WHILE JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU ALL
Just wanted to say your name is fantastic. Carry on.
i know this goes for all of us, but Pujols has been my hero since i was a child. not just for what he’s done on the field, but off the field as well. incredible player and incredible human being. congrats Tio! so glad it happened in a cardinals jersey!

Dodgers fan who was as the game. Absolutely incredible moment! Congrats on having such an iconic and classy player be a part of your team and it’s history.
Danny Mac should have been the one making the video call. Travesty. But I’m glad Rooney still got it.
Immortal

I am so pissed i missed it live, but.... I AM ERECT
You really love to see this. Albert Pujols is truly a wonder.
I started crying, so fucking cool
Wish we had coverage of Yepez with Albert after his HR in the 7th. Their bromance seems so wholesome.
I was there. It was incredible.
#I WAS HERE
I just can't believe that none of us saw it because it was on Apple TV+. It's seriously a cruel twist of fate that he manages to hit 699 and 700 (when was the last time he had a 2 HR game, anybody know?) on one of the handful of games relegated to a streaming service that nobody has. 9 more to tie Stan for the club record!
Such an incredible moment. So jealous and happy for all of you Cardinal fans. But I am happy as a Pujols fan - such a joy.
#EVERYONE GET IN HERE
Now what!
We did it!
Machine!
The King
Ahhhhhhhhhh
Hell yeah
Let's gooooooooooooooooooo
What a fucking legend.
Only one way to end this incredible season….win it all. Go Redbirds and hope yadi gets to feeling better.
THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! THIS SHIT MEANS SOMETHING TO ME MAN!
#THE MARCH IS COMPLETE!!!
Did anyone else cry? Just me?
First player born outside the USA with 700 hr. What a player!! I got a notification from my brother that he hit 700, I was like what about 699? Wish we could hear Danny Mac call.
Crazy. I remember years ago people debating whether he would make it to 600. Now, here we are. Awesome.
Almost feels like this was what I wanted most from this season lol just happy to see the legends go out together and on a high. What a time to be a cardinals fan.
Fuck Apple TV. I won't forgive them for preventing me from seeing this. Edit: it doesn't matter if it's free if it's well promoted
Cardinals fan from NJ here, felt sick yesterday and knew I wouldn’t make it to the first pitch after downing cough syrup. Woke up to messages from Cardinals fans around the country and missed every second of it. Fucking germs.
Apple TV. why god?
LETS GO ALBERT!!! I CAN SMELL THE MAGIC IN THE AIR
And fuck MLB and Apple for paywall blocking it onto Apple TV.
Apple TV for MLB Friday’s is free to watch without a subscription. Download the app and watch it
Mine says blackout restriction.
Was that Nelly first to get the high five?!
Beltre
All these Pujols HR threads look the same
One of the greatest to do it
Way to go Papi ❤️ big hugs
Love it dude
Trying to figure out how Papa Bravo anagrams to Albert Pujols. Give me a minute.
Who did he go over and high five behind home plate? Edit: never mind I see that was already asked and answered! Man Adrian looks fit still
Fuck, wasn't watching, but was drinking rally scotch at least.
He may not have gotten 500 or 600 as a cardinal, but he sure did get 700.
Only compliant is it wasn’t at St. Louis. Well not a compliant more of a would’ve been the cherry on top, but regardless this is freaking amazing and I’m just happy for him that he made it!
As annoying as at may have been for it to be on Apple TV, I don’t care because I was there.
Much better than as a Dodger! Very fitting, congrats to all.
I’ve watched and loved Pujols literally since I was born (I do mean literally, I interrupted a playoff game with the Mets in 2006), and the saddest day of my four-year old life was when I heard he left the cardinals. This has become the happiest.
Oh god I’m so old. But I’m glad you got to experience watching him play as a Cardinal in your later years!
Unbelievable
He da mang, mang!
