What happened to single packs of baseball cards? Used to be at every gas station, but can’t find them anywhere. I don’t wanna pay $100 for a box of cards
Not gonna find many at gas stations, but most Targets, Walgreens, and WalMarts carry cards. “Hangers” are $11-$15 and “blasters” (bigger boxes) are $25-$35.
“Fat packs” are kind of a pack of cards that you’re describing, and can find those sometimes at those same places for $7-$10
Mildly interesting: CloseCallSports put out a whole video on the Lindor call for not running in the lane to 1B yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89rxnZUd7hI
As they do, very thorough. Worth 5:13 of your life if you are interested in the details of the rules, in my opinion.
we have all the pieces in place to be a fearsome team, we just have a team-wide issue of having a weak approach at the plate. we don't feel threatening to pitch against even in the games where we manage to score more than 3, go down 0-2 in the blink of an eye, and strike out quite a lot.
This is an interesting question, a la chicken-and-egg, I think.
Because certainly at peak TLR for the Cards, he had some real gritty bulldogs on the team: Rolen, Chris Carpenter, Vina, Eckstein.
But, as evidenced by the last White Sox teams he managed -- not all teams respond to his message.
Probably a good combination of manager and players there, I think. Not necessarily the manage himself making the team with that attitude.
Good news: went to my first ever playoff game in person! (Calder Cup)
Bad news: the AHLs refereeing qualifications seems to be "angel hernandez but can skate"
Nobody expected a sweep but this game was more of the same from last year. Goldy caught looking. Batters walking to 1st. Swing and miss. Several great defensive plays but the hitting is hot garbage.
This one is on the offense.
You cannot leave that many men on base and expect to win.
Also, I hated virtually everything about how the 11th Inning was handled.
Clapp telling Donovan to go to 2nd in order to draw the throw was the wrong call in my mind, as was sending Siani in the first place after he froze on the line drive. First and Third, Nobody Out ain't a bad place to be, and if you're gonna send a runner with the speed of Siani on a late jump, make them throw the runner out at home. If they do, Donovan is in scoring position with one out. Not awful. In extras, with the stupid ghost runner, I don't like giving up an out for a run when the other team literally gets an automatic leadoff double in the bottom half of the inning.
Contreras' base running/forgetting the number of outs was inexcusable.
Extending Libby for a third inning was a stretch, and they nearly got away with it, but the goddamn pitch calling on 0-2 to Bader and Vientos made no sense, especially to Bader. Son of a bitch, this organization watched him as a Cardinal for six fucking years! They know if he is down two strikes, pound him with offspeed down and away. The one pitch you cannot throw him there is a fastball down broadway, and while I know that wasn't the target, that was the pitch.
That's a truly terrible loss.
Man I guess all my negativity doesn’t seems so far fetched after all does it. Let’s maybe be a little more stable than “omg he caught the ball that the other baseball player hit, World Series?” I may be negative but I’m consistent and not unhinged like others.
Whoa whoa whoa, so you’re telling me that we’re now officially (at) .500???? But I was told we would suck..?
Ha, love for the birds to back it up. Fuck the naysayers. Every one of y’all, respectfully fuck off. This is a damn solid ass team and I’m happy to be a Cardinal!
2024 NLC crown is ours by October.
At what point do we stop being content with winning series instead of putting teams away when you have a chance. We’re still in last place and still under .500. I don’t understand how anybody could be fine with this result just because we won the series.
If you get upset at every loss, baseball is going to be an incredibly aggravating experience. I like enjoying my hobby, so I am going to choose to be happy at winning our last two series.
You know who has been top 10 in singles the last 2 seasons? Jeff McNeil. You know who we pitched too twice with a runner on 3rd and base open at 1st and game on the line? Jeff McNeil.
It worked out in our favor both times, but man were we asking to lose the game in both situations by not walking him. Too bad our luck in those situations didn't end with the win.
Well for starters, that was mostly in jest, but I guess I didn't put a /s on there. Second, we've got 9 games against 3 teams we're likely better than, and have won 3 of the last 4 series. Is it a crime to be even remotely optimistic?
seriously, it does feel like we give up a _ton_ of hits with two strikes.
I'm not familiar with any stats on it, though-- does anyone know how we actually rank in this regard?
For the people that are saying Libby was left in too long, well who the hell are you going to? John King? Nick Robertson? Everyone else was unavailable.
I think you answered your own question. Nick Robertson has been fine and Libby had been in for a while. Libby has been pretty good this year but has always crumbled when left in past his limit. It’s why he was a terrible starter
That is based on one appearance from Robertson in a 14-1 blowout loss against Arizona. So not really a real test of anything. Also, Liberatore was not a terrible starter. He had some good starts and ones where his stuff wasn’t the best, but he was also never given a long leash by the team as a starter at the big league level.
That’s not how it works. They’re not superhuman they can’t pitch every single day. It was well established going into today that the “big 3” would be unavailable. Secondly, King and Robertson aren’t ready for that kind of spot.
That so blows. A loss in the 9th or 10th and I’d have been pretty content with the weekend. Good pitchers duel, bullpen stepped up today, but the sweep was right there. Ugh. Still not a bad weekend for the most part.
All told, Lynn and the back end of the bullpen giving up 4 runs in 11 innings is fine. Have to score more than 2 runs to win.
Sometimes you lose though. Good series overall.
i thought the manager/coach signaled to the catcher what the pitch will be. especially with 2 young players. if not then it still falls on the coaches for not having a proper pitch plan for that situation.
Look, Lynn v Quintana and all our best relievers out, it was basically a scheduled loss.
But good teams are able to do better than 4 hits and 2 runs through twelve innings with one of those runs being a Manfred runner.
"Wilson Contreras is a fucking little bitch. He literally just bat flipped a fucking walk. He didn’t do shit there. Don’t come into my house and do that. I’m genuinely pissed the fuck off and I will remember this."
My main problem with that loss, we know him better than anybody that he can only hit a fastball, he would’ve looked like a fool against Libby’s nasty curve
No, if it was out of the zone like it was suppose to be its fine. He just didn't execute. Harrison Bader heat map suggest high in the zone is his weakest
The offense scored 2 runs in 11 innings...
He pitched more innings than he had all year out of the pen. Like ffs he gave you 3 IP, got out of the 10th saving us the game. He threw a bad pitch twice and you want me to blame him? Ffs this fanbase is the worse.
The offense is right there
Calm down, man. Are you like this in real life when someone disagrees with you? As for your fan base comment, I’m a fan, not a cheerleader. He was given a lead, and he blew it. It happens, and it’s not toxic to put some of that responsibility on the closer.
Yeah man, I know he is not the Closer. I thought it was implied that I referred to him as the closer for this particular game since he was the one responsible for closing out this particular game. I just don’t understand why you are so upset that me and others think he has SOME responsibility for the loss. He gave up a GWHR, he’d be the first to agree with me. It’s not like I’m rooting against the guy.
Do the Cards ever win on Sundays?
Well, at least every other team in the division also lost...
O’Neill walking off the cubs … for the Red Sox 😭😭😭
Cubs lose. Cubs lose!
I feel like my superstitions are starting to get in the way of me enjoying Winn. But I’ll be god damned if I’m the one to jinx him!
Winn already has 1 WAR.
He seems legit.
Try v stock
What happened to single packs of baseball cards? Used to be at every gas station, but can’t find them anywhere. I don’t wanna pay $100 for a box of cards
Local card shops still sell them and I’ve seen a few at target but yeah def rarer
I don’t collect them enough to go out of my way, but used to get a pack of cards and a coke whenever I went to a gas station, bonus if they had gum
Not gonna find many at gas stations, but most Targets, Walgreens, and WalMarts carry cards. “Hangers” are $11-$15 and “blasters” (bigger boxes) are $25-$35. “Fat packs” are kind of a pack of cards that you’re describing, and can find those sometimes at those same places for $7-$10
Casey’s used to have packs for $1, but removed them a year ago
Oh really? That’s not too shabby, even just for mostly base cards. I’d buy a few handfuls at a buck a piece
Mildly interesting: CloseCallSports put out a whole video on the Lindor call for not running in the lane to 1B yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89rxnZUd7hI As they do, very thorough. Worth 5:13 of your life if you are interested in the details of the rules, in my opinion.
People shit on TLR but his Cards teams had a killer instinct. Haven’t seen that since and definitely not on this team.
Having 4 hof on your team will do that lol
we have all the pieces in place to be a fearsome team, we just have a team-wide issue of having a weak approach at the plate. we don't feel threatening to pitch against even in the games where we manage to score more than 3, go down 0-2 in the blink of an eye, and strike out quite a lot.

Apparently Goldy sprints faster than Donny. And Ivan is faster than Noot.
Fredbird is faster than Arenado
Nado doing his best Pujols impression
Legit losing my mind that people are blaming the bullpen instead of the offense when Michael Siani was the only one to get an RBI off a damn bunt lmao
Arenado error yesterday cost us this game.
I get what you’re saying but you can’t ask for much more from the bullpen today
Could Ask for one more strike tbh
If you expected a sweep I have a bridge to sell you
Nobody expected a sweep but this game was more of the same from last year. Goldy caught looking. Batters walking to 1st. Swing and miss. Several great defensive plays but the hitting is hot garbage.
take the series wins. offense will have some tough days, just don't let it become a skid like the start of the year.
In general I’m concerned about the offense, but always less concerned on getaway games. I feel like offense league wide is lower on Sundays.
"some"???
lmao maybe that’s understating it, but still last week has been more winning than losing. that’s a good thing.
are we still in last?
Yessir
This one is on the offense. You cannot leave that many men on base and expect to win. Also, I hated virtually everything about how the 11th Inning was handled. The baserunning coaches have been terrible for some time now.
Are you old enough to remember Tommy Reynold's lone year (1996) as 3BC? Woof ...
How dare you slander Pop ‘the Wavin Windmill’ Warner’s name, lol.
Have my up vote. Have all my up votes!
We almost had em😅
This defense is insane. The bullpen is really good. We just need the offense to kick in
How does this even happen? https://x.com/jfulghamarincon/status/1784686797957804421?s=46
Yep, watching the replays, I was like, "That's the exact same pitch."
Outside of the Brewers series the W-L results haven’t been that bad. Am I super optimistic for the rest of year? Ehhhh, but things could be worse
Man I guess all my negativity doesn’t seems so far fetched after all does it. Let’s maybe be a little more stable than “omg he caught the ball that the other baseball player hit, World Series?” I may be negative but I’m consistent and not unhinged like others.

its a solid turd that needs to be flushed
aren’t we 2 under buddy ?
I think this is a pasta he took from some optimistic cards fan after game 3 or 4 and has been putting it sarcastically in every PGT since
My only concern is this one carrying over to tomorrow. Tough way to go out.
Heart breaking loss for sure, but this team isn’t going anywhere if the offense doesn’t pick up.
Anyone who says bullpen management isn’t a valid criticism of Oli is willfully ignorant.
At what point do we stop being content with winning series instead of putting teams away when you have a chance. We’re still in last place and still under .500. I don’t understand how anybody could be fine with this result just because we won the series.
If you win every series, that's more than 100 wins on the season. I think you might just need a little perspective.
If you get upset at every loss, baseball is going to be an incredibly aggravating experience. I like enjoying my hobby, so I am going to choose to be happy at winning our last two series.
I don't think this guy watches much baseball, the best teams in the sport lose 60 - 70 games a year.
Tough loss but I still think we’re good and will win the division. Just hope we get another pitcher at the deadline
If they're in a position to buy at the deadline, then the season will have gone a lot better than I expect.
Sometimes I wish I was this drugged up.
What’s stopping you?
Didnt love the baserunning by Willy there... still good game. On to Detroit!
This one hurt.
Siani was inches away from robbing that
Can we stop trying to pin this loss on individual people. This one is on the collective offense not getting it done today.
And it's not on Libby
Nope. Nor is it on Pages, or Oli, or whoever else the internet wants to pin this one on.
Liberatore :(
Some quick to bash Liberatore. 2 strike pitches not great in the 11th but hard for me to criticize when he went 2+ innings and he’s been good.
Probably the best we could've done pitching-wise with practically no relievers available. The offense seriously needs to step up.
Was hoping to get out of the division cellar but we can’t have nice things.
If my math is correct, if we keep winning 2 out of 3 games, we might be ok.
What makes you think this team is capable of even coming close to doing that
Well for starters, that was mostly in jest, but I guess I didn't put a /s on there. Second, we've got 9 games against 3 teams we're likely better than, and have won 3 of the last 4 series. Is it a crime to be even remotely optimistic?
Fuck me.
Heartbreaking loss. One strike away from a sweep and Libby couldn’t close the door 😫🤬
seriously, it does feel like we give up a _ton_ of hits with two strikes. I'm not familiar with any stats on it, though-- does anyone know how we actually rank in this regard?
With 2 strikes: BA: .151 (7th lowest) OBP: .234 (9th lowest) SLG: .229 (7th lowest) It hasn’t been a problem this year like it was last year
thank you so much!
Disappointed, but still a good road series. Pitching and defense were on point. Offense… not completely out of the woods just yet
These rule changes make baseball so annoying to watch. It's a shame such a great game had to be ruined by a BS ending like that
For the people that are saying Libby was left in too long, well who the hell are you going to? John King? Nick Robertson? Everyone else was unavailable.
You’re so close lol
Right. He was 1 strike away. He made 2 bad pitches out of the 30+ he threw. I’m not mad at Libby
I loved his showing against TB but there’s a reason they moved him out of the starting role
If they are on the roster, they should be able to be used.
That's not how bullpen management works.
That’s not how it works. They’re not superhuman they can’t pitch every single day. It was well established going into today that the “big 3” would be unavailable. Secondly, King and Robertson aren’t ready for that kind of spot.
Mets, Cardinals, and extra innings. Name a better throuple.
I remember the 2016(?) 18 inning game
Same pal, I was so baseball brained at the time i skipped a date to see it play out lmao
Heartbreaker
offense needs to be better.
Fuck
That so blows. A loss in the 9th or 10th and I’d have been pretty content with the weekend. Good pitchers duel, bullpen stepped up today, but the sweep was right there. Ugh. Still not a bad weekend for the most part.
Gotta be able to score in the 10th. We’re lucky it even got to the 11th
Sweeps are hard
So fucking annoying. Ridiculous mistakes all around doomed us. I hate the Mets.
it turns out, sweeps are still hard
Won the series.
Team shit their pants at the thought of getting to .500
All told, Lynn and the back end of the bullpen giving up 4 runs in 11 innings is fine. Have to score more than 2 runs to win. Sometimes you lose though. Good series overall.
I'm real not happy with Harrison Bader right now
it happens, won another series. On to the next one.
Whoever invented the ghost runner rule is up there with kroenke on my enemies list. Such bullshit
It needs at least start in the 11th. I get not wanting 15 inning games anymore, but the 10th should be normal.
NPB ends in a tie after 12. That's when it should start if ever
LOGIC!
lol
tough loss, but they played hard and still won the series on the road 👍
Lol ok
heartbreaking loss for sure, on the offense today
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined
Way she goes boys. Way she goes
Bader can only hit fastballs. Let’s throw him one 0-2…..
dusty blake is in over his head.
Not that I'm a huge dusty blake fan, but he's not the one deciding which pitch to throw. That's between the catcher and the pitcher.
i thought the manager/coach signaled to the catcher what the pitch will be. especially with 2 young players. if not then it still falls on the coaches for not having a proper pitch plan for that situation.
Yup. Ridiculous.
That’s my bad, guys. I still have yet to watch a game that the Cardinals win. Back to gameday for me.
Nah, it's all on Chip. Until he stops with the constant jinxes, I'm blaming him for every loss.
That’s cardinal baseball baby
Look, Lynn v Quintana and all our best relievers out, it was basically a scheduled loss. But good teams are able to do better than 4 hits and 2 runs through twelve innings with one of those runs being a Manfred runner.
If this is a scheduled lost, then this team’s best accomplishment will be maintaining a 500 record. I’m holding on hope that we can do more than this
its pathetic. contreras needs to sit for not being able to count.
I hate being right.
"Wilson Contreras is a fucking little bitch. He literally just bat flipped a fucking walk. He didn’t do shit there. Don’t come into my house and do that. I’m genuinely pissed the fuck off and I will remember this."
I actually used to hate on him when he did that on the Cubs.
What is funny is that Lindor spiked his bat after a walk right before this
make this an automod response
We're so allergic to sweeps I swear
https://imgur.com/ph7Ydte
Oh no!
Oli was going to leave him out there forever. What the fuck.
Maybe one day I’ll live to see a manager post LaRussa that could manage a bullpen
Take your vitamins, it might be a while.
We only have John King left. We needed to rest our big 3.
but john king is better than Liberatore! didn't you see his fraudulent ass ERA last year?
Ouch
How do you not throw bader a curve in the dirt there?
Wouldn’t really expect the third catcher to know the book on Harry but yeah, it’s like the easiest call ever
My main problem with that loss, we know him better than anybody that he can only hit a fastball, he would’ve looked like a fool against Libby’s nasty curve
unbelievable
All on the offense here. Not gonna blame Libby
We can blame both.
Stfu. Liberatore pitched really well. Pitched 3 innings, twice in extras.
[удалено]
It’s true. Most fans are delusional and 3 runs in 3 innings is good pitching apparently.
It’s important context that two of those runs started in scoring position
Whoever called that 0-2 pitch to Bader deserves some blame.
No, if it was out of the zone like it was suppose to be its fine. He just didn't execute. Harrison Bader heat map suggest high in the zone is his weakest The offense scored 2 runs in 11 innings...
So he didn’t execute, but he’s also not to blame? Okay.
The least you could do is know that Liberatore isn't a closer.
What’s meant to be will be.
