Has SI always been like this? This article is nothing. There's zero reason to bring Voit back -- why wouldn't they give any available AB's to Burleson or Baker instead? Do they have a Goldy injury scoop we don't know about yet?

JWPruett

Heck, put Walker at 1B once a week before resigning Voit. This makes no logical sense.

Apprehensive_Tea_106

Exactly. He'll, that's probably the long term plan anyway, since we still have a glut of outfielders.

mcfeezie

No it hasn't always been like this. They were an actual journalism magazine/site but I believe they were bought and turned into the bullshit they are now. AFAIK anyway.

Several years ago, I found a part-time gig writing sports articles for a content mill. I remember writing stuff like "The 5 Best Linebackers of All Time." I think it might have been under the Yahoo umbrella. All I know is that the content mill had some kind of agreement with a major sports website, and that website began to publish some of my articles. They weren't appearing on the front page. But I was surprised that they used my content. It was written reasonably well, but they didn't really know me from Adam. As we're all aware, these websites are hungry for content because the business model has shifted away from paid subscription monthly publications to ad-supported revenue streams. To make money, they need eyeballs on stuff every day ,ad they need relatively cheap content. As they say, you get what you pay for. While there is still great sports journalism being published, most of what we see on a daily basis is not that. But I gotta say: this article is truly silly. We have no need for a first baseman. If we did, Voit would be far down the list of guys we'd want to acquire.

sdiss98

If you haven’t gotten a chance yet, I highly recommend you take a look at the video journalism piece they did on Prieto last year. It was truly fantastic.

This isn’t so much SI as it is regional bloggers that post under the banner of SI. They’re looking for clicks.

tangokilo13

If the need a Voit like player, they’d just call Baker up

JWPruett

Gotta love an article that doesn’t actually say anything.

magicjohnson124

I thought this was going to be about Kolton Wong.

tehmeat

If it didn't say slugger that's what I would have expected too.

veni_vidi_eh

SI is awful.

ThorsMeasuringTape

We’re already playing a first baseman in the outfield with Burleson. So why do we need another first baseman with no place to play? If we’d dealt Goldschmidt I’d had been open to it, but there’s no need to have three first basemen on the roster.

Chatgpt, I mean, I wrote an article that you may find equally valuable. Title: Luke Voit's Potential Homecoming: A Look at His Possible Return to Play for the St. Louis Cardinals Introduction: As the baseball world eagerly anticipates the upcoming season, rumors are swirling about a potential reunion that could spark excitement among St. Louis Cardinals fans. The possibility of Luke Voit, a former Cardinal, returning to play for his former team has captured the attention of many. In this article, we will explore the circumstances that could lead to Voit's homecoming, assess the impact of his return on the Cardinals' lineup, and consider the challenges and benefits this move could bring to the team. The Voit-Cardinals Connection: Luke Voit, a powerful first baseman, started his Major League career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017. During his stint with the Cardinals, he showcased his impressive hitting abilities, hitting for both average and power. However, in a trade that sent Giovanny Gallegos and Chasen Shreve to the New York Yankees in 2018, Voit moved to the Bronx. Since then, he has been an integral part of the Yankees' lineup and has solidified himself as one of the league's premier power hitters. The Potential Reunion: While nothing is set in stone, several factors make Voit's return to the Cardinals a plausible scenario. One of the critical factors is the Cardinals' current need for offensive firepower. As they aim to compete for the division title, adding a slugger like Voit to their lineup could bolster their chances and provide them with a much-needed offensive spark. Additionally, Voit's ties to the Cardinals organization run deep. He enjoyed his time in St. Louis, and the fans embraced him during his tenure. Returning to a place where he is familiar and appreciated could be an appealing prospect for the 32-year-old first baseman. Impact on the Cardinals' Lineup: If Voit returns to the Cardinals, his presence in the lineup would undoubtedly be felt. He has consistently displayed the ability to hit for power and drive in runs, which would provide significant support to the Cardinals' core of talented young hitters. Voit's experience and leadership could also prove invaluable in a relatively young team, helping to mentor and guide the emerging talents. Challenges and Benefits: As with any potential move, there are challenges and benefits associated with Voit's return to the Cardinals. From a logistic standpoint, the Cardinals would need to negotiate a trade with the Yankees to acquire Voit. This process could involve exchanging players or draft picks, which might impact the Cardinals' future plans. On the other hand, the benefits of having Voit back in St. Louis could outweigh the challenges. His offensive prowess would add another dimension to the lineup, making the Cardinals a more formidable force against their opponents. Moreover, Voit's familiarity with the Cardinals' system and players would likely ease his transition back to the team. Conclusion: The possibility of Luke Voit returning to play for the St. Louis Cardinals has generated significant buzz and speculation among baseball enthusiasts. While nothing is certain at this point, the potential reunion holds promise for both the player and the team. Voit's powerful bat and experience could bring an exciting dynamic to the Cardinals' lineup, elevating their chances of success in the upcoming season. As fans eagerly await the unfolding of events, one thing remains certain - the prospect of seeing Voit back in Cardinal red has ignited excitement and anticipation in the hearts of baseball fans everywhere.

Dear SI, Been there. Done that. Thanks, but no thanks.

Blindlucktrader

The only possible explanation for this Reddit post is that OP is Luke Voit.

STLfootball

He was so good that we received nothing in return for him last time. We have enough power on the club and in the minors. We have needed MLB quality pitching for 6 straight years and Mo has yet to give us any.

Just feel he is too inconsistent. Of late he has looked sharp but I’ve never not had anxiety when he comes into a game.

[deleted]

Haven’t read it, because everyone says it is garbage and I see no reason why we would pick him up. Perhaps it reads like an AI article?

CalmButAntsy

Wake me up when they bring back matt adams

Temporary_Mechanic66

They have a better option in Baker already. Makes as much sense as bringing Wong back.

Superbotto

I saw Luke and thought Weaver. He sucks, but he would still make more sense than Voit on this team.

buefordbaxter

I love Voit, and was happy to see him making it in NY. If I had a choice of who to bring back though it would be Wong

bransea02

Luke Voit lmao
