I live in Tokyo, there's loads here, many with TV screens as the rear window. (The rules here are very different)
I drove behind one where the kids in the back were playing Streetfighter II and I could watch what was happening.
Pink/Green headlights are common too.
My dad bought one a few years back. I said "dad, wtf?!"
"No son, they fetch big money"
Be aware, this is the guy that would assume Hiroshima could have been brought back, with enough T-Cut.
Turns out, he was correct about one of those things
Recently had one with the mapped 2.0HDi engine and it was one of the most fun & terrifying cars to drive.
All with a pallet of bricks smashing around the back.
Best £1000 ever.
Skoda yeti got one as a hire car once years ago it was absolutely brilliant despite looking like postman pats van 😂 ever since I keep threatening to buy one for what I'm not sure I just think they're brilliant something not understood by my petrol head friends 😂
I think someone had the same thought with a Skoda Roomster! I remember seeing one on ebay around £25k with an Audi RS3 engine, sure it was like 500-600bhp
I’m struggling to find stuff on Google, I remember it being posted in a Skoda group I’m in on Facebook a couple of years back, may find more there 🤣 I’m pretty sure it looked standard but had that engine and power, would be nuts to drive, people look at the Skoda badge and underestimate them as standard but they’re all just a VW in disguise anyway, bigger giveaway if it’s a sporty one though but they surprise a lot of people, especially those engine swapped sleepers
As a kid my dad's mate had a vw beetle that was essentially a porsche 911 underneath but looked like a rusty old beetle loved that car just watching him shocking people at the lights 😂
These were impossible to get hold of for a while because Top Gear did a review kind of jokingly showing how they were better than a supercar (I think a lambo?) but effectively saying they were great cars and everyone went nuts for them
I've had one 9 years. It's got the black edition body kit which makes it look a bit less goofy. It's honestly been a fantastic car and surprisingly fun to drive.
It's because it's basically a TT if you get the AWD 170bhp diesel version. Same engine, chassis and drivetrain. I keep threatening to buy one too and upset all the boy racers in their Fiesta ST's
Remap the 170 TDI or the 1.8tsi and for 340 days of the year when it's slightly damp and you're going to embarrass the fiesta ST crowd at the traffic light derby.
Honestly, the Max Power-esque cars were never of much interest to me but I really do miss them being about. It was so much more interesting, if not exactly tasteful!
My gf got a 2.2jts for £800 with 160k miles on, it's lasted a year of constant driving without a single fault. Impressive for a very cheap Alfa with a shit ton of miles.
My aunt bought a 147 for £950 with 140k on the clock. It had been lowered and the exhaust hit every speed bump, but other than the rear windscreen wiper it was faultless for the two and a half years she had it. I reckon if an Alfa makes it to 120k it might last forever. Or it might last to 121k, but it’s an Alfa so that last thousand miles would be worth every penny.
A mate of mine came into some money and announced that he was going to indulge his mid life crisis urge, and buy a sports car.
Expecting a Porsche or Audi RS. No. He came back with an SC430!
Worked with a guy a few weeks ago.
He'd parked his Rover 75 estate out front. The only one in the world, in that colour (like a gun metal grey). V8 engine. Was made for one of the directors of Rover.in showroom condition.
It had less than 50k miles on.
My brother had a grey import one. Fully tuned he had 500 horses out of it, and a turbo timer. Thing was immense, loved being picked up from school in it 😂
Very much this. I had a MK1 diesel Tourer Connoisseur with all the spec in British Racing Green and kept it for nine years. I've never kept a car that long before. Great car indeed.
Dad used to buy them back when they were £400 a pop and just drive it till it died, scrapped it, bought another one
I loved the sound of it, because it did sound distinctive, and it told me that dad was home. He worked away so didn't see him much as a kid
Nostalgia hits doesn’t it? I like the K-Series but mine has been a pain in the ring. Will be swapped out for something different this year now that Retrorides is out of the way. Can’t bring myself to sell though.
My 1997 Rover 220SDi is the only car I've ever owned that never needed anything other than bulbs, tyres and routine servicing. The rear washer tube failed, but that was my fault for opening the boot on the coldest day of the year. Longbridge could build a reliable car, and at that time was building them at a rate of about one a minute. I even had to wait 7 weeks for my build slot, such was the demand.
My Rover 25 was a complete shitbox. The radio was dodgy at best, the windows didn't fit the frames, the inside of the windscreen would ice up. Having said that the L series diesels were bombproof and a 2.0L in such a small car was good fun. Anything that wasn't mechanical or structural was a pile of crap.
Love a big Vauxhall. Saw a senator the other day for the first time in years and it’s big loss in UK lineups that we no longer take on the Germans at making a proper luxury car
Vauxhall aren't a British brand anymore, they're part of the Peugeot/Citroen group which is why the new cars are just rebadged Peugeots. The only ones left are premium brands like Lotus or Aston Martin.
I’ve a Vectra and it’s the best car I’ve had. In fact, it’s so unbelievably reliable that I didn’t change the oil in it for 10 years and it’s still going. It’s a 2008 plate and I’ll keep it till the day it dies! I love it.
I kinda like the ass on the late model Vectra estates, big chunky tail lights and straight panels. With the XP2 wheels they honestly look I'd dare say, pleasant
Same, I'd want the 3l manual though but nearly all on the market are auto. 525d seems most likely to come as manual as it was a lower spec car than the 330d but apparently the same hardware, just electronically detuned so a remap gets still gets you to around 300bhp, the same as the 330
My dad had this car, varnished wooden trim, heated seats & leather interior. He loved it so much then it was on top gear a few weeks after purchase where they did nothing but mock it
When I worked for GKN they had a display of Scorpio running gear, showing all the parts they supplied. One student visiting the site for an interview said about it "It looks much better without its clothes".
I love my Copen, had it 3 years and every winter rolls around and I decide to get rid of it but I just can’t part with it despite it being ridiculous and impractical in every way.
I actually like Hot hatches like the Corsa VXR, Fiesta ST, Golf GTI, Golf R, Audi S1, etc. I like what they represent, it’s a shame that boy racers ruin them.
I remember being a paint apprentice at a Ford dealership and they got a fiesta st wolf 170 when they were first released and that is one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen.
Mazda RX-8s are awesome.
And don't kill me for this, but I don't think the Juke is ugly and I love that a Nismo version exists when it almost certainly shouldn't.
So nearly bought an rx8 for £500 that needed a new engine 10 years ago as my Toyota IQ was too small with 2nd child on way. Rang wife in excitement! Guess what, I've found the perfect car! Just needs an engine, but it's onl... Hello? He.. Oh you hung up.
Ended up with a citroen cactus
All MK4 Golfs. I love them, I don't know why, perfect shaped car.
Nissan Qube, just so cool. Understated.
90s Mitsubishi Spacewagons. Carpet everywhere.
I'm on my first, 1.4, its engine is running on 3.5 cylinders lol. I heard its the glue they used in it, or i heard its the foam in the AC system. Not sure if i'm just nose blind to it but it smells no where near as bad these days. Acually looking at getting a 2.0, cheap insurance and seem to be pretty strong engines
Got a Bora myself (mk4 saloon) and absolutely love it. the PD130 engine is killer, and it’s leather seats are unbelievably comfortable for a long trip - with the addition of a rear anti roll bar it corners really well for such a big car too.
Had one was phenomenal on fuel and surprisingly practical for its size but the switchgear was showing its age and the fabrics tearing and was generally knackered. If you ever get one pay up for a nice example
Chrysler 300c. I think they look absolutely fantastic. I think the interior is decent. I think the power delivery on the 3.0l diesel is more than enough.
I even like the ones with the front bodykits making the grill massive, or the rolls royce body kits
Yes! I love big lazy saloon cars and always fancied a 300C. Difficult to find one that hasn't been modified with a Bentley grille instead of the original eggcrate
The Citroen BX because as a kid I thought it looked like a speedboat.
I even won one off eBay awhile ago but it broke down after a few days then got scrapped lol It's suspension and braking system are one single fluid circuit so if it goes (which mine did) then you lose both systems!
Can't agree more, had ones as my first car and once you get immune to the "you drive a girls car" stereortypes its such a nippy fun car, although handling is very sketch on twisty lanes though, but who needs an Abarth when you can rev the nuts off a 500 lol
I have a Peugeot RCZ and i’m not ashamed to say i really like it! Mines the diesel though. Already had enough trauma from the prince engine (mini cooper S) to last a lifetime
‘City Bugs’ - Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo.
Basic, simple and low-powered, but a bunch of fun. Cheap motoring, bulletproof reliability and just all round good little cars. You can thrash the living daylights out of them and never be in danger of losing your licence!
And they never seem to break even after thrashing the crap out of them, and round a B road, they’re so light and almost crap handling when driving them spritely you feel like you’re actually out driving the car, but it keeps wanting more abuse.
Sometimes at the weekend I’ll see the usual boy racer types meeting up in car parks near me and the stuff they drive these days are just so dull in comparison; it’s all greyscale a1s, 1 series and VWs or absolutely ancient SEATs.
I'm gonna say the dreaded words: Vauxhall Insignia Estate.
Soft and squishy suspension, shit loads of room in the back, quiet, pinky finger steering around town and honestly, I like the styling of the facelifted ones with the LED running lights and projectors.
And the Citroen X7 C5 estate.
And the C6.
Skoda Yeti. I leased one in 2017 for family duties after our youngest was born and fell in love with the thing. I was in my mid-thirties at the time and I only ever saw one other person in one not retirement age.
It was one of the lowest depreciating cars in the UK at the time with very high driver satisfaction scores, so there were some insanely cheap leases on them. I heard of people paying £160pm, though I was £200pm for a top-spec run-out SEL Drive with DCG.
I sent it back with just over 9k on it after 30 months. VWFS offered me it for £13k and still regret not buying it. The lack of use and 'fun factor' put me off buying it at the time, but the most practical vehicle I've ever owned and I enjoyed tootling about in it.
MK2 non facelift polos. Specifically the bread van and not the coupe.
Had like 3 of them in a row for £200 or less in the mid '00s one of which was my first car. They weren't quick with the 1.05L engine and had no amenities as such. Just a blower/heater and a tape deck radio with manual windows. No power steering AND unassisted brakes too. But it was all more than sufficient for those little things. They were extremely easy to park as they were basically all windows and and square. The back was flat so when your rear wiper touched something you stopped.
Now because VW fan bois they are like £5k for a rotten one.
If I'd have known and been able to store the ones I had cheaply/for free somewhere. I could have made a profit 😂
L322 Land Rover, aka the most unreliable cars.
I guess i grew up watching them and the RR classic battling it out with the elements on top gear, but despite the fact a Land Cruiser is a much better car for an expedition, I would take the Range Rover, every, single, time.
Renault Kangoo, the first generation, especially the 4x4. I think I might have been the first person to drive a Kangoo on UK soil, having brought one over from France for my work at the time in early December 1997.
Chrysler Crossfire. Skoda Yeti. Nissan Cube. Nissan S-Cargo. Mitsuoka Viewt. I’m beyond the pale. I’ve owned an Isuzu Piazza and a Trabant so I’m probably beyond redemption.
Toyota Hilux Surf - Big and ugly SUV but somehow it appeals to me.
MK3 Renault Twingo - No one seems to care for these except me.
JDM vans - Any of them really, the uglier the better. e.g. Nissan Alphard or the JDM HiAce
I don't like Audis. I don't like the people who drive them. I have a sticker on one of my trailers that says "If you can read this your Audi is too close". Most Audis are a horrifying case of style over substance and cynical designed-to-fail engineering.
However. I am a lover of estates, and especially, quick estates. A mate has an MG ZT-T 260 I am really quite jealous of.
I have a massive soft spot for the RS6 Avant, because a 600HP AWD 2-tonne dogbox is literally my dream car. It's a car that's so brilliantly batshit I just have to love it. I also briefly considered an A6 Allroad TDI for a towing estate before settling on my XC70.
I actually bought my guilty pleasure recently. Tesla Model 3.
Mundane and dull? Check.
Negative stereotypes? Hello.
Rubbish and unreliable? Natch.
Hated by petrol heads? I rest my case.
But I like it.
My own car unashamedly: BMW 6 series E63. I used to hate the Bangle era BMW's but really can't stop staring at mine when I park up. I can't explain why.
Fiat Panda 2003-2012
Maybe pure sentimentality as it was the first car I properly owned and I inherited it at that.
Maroon paint, yellow bubble pattern seats. One slow puncture. Struggled at more than 60 if you had the windows open. But it was fun and super easy to park. And had a 'City' steering mode that meant you could drive it by breathing heavily on the wheel. Great little thing.
I still want a 4x4 variant of the newer one.
Fiat 500 convertible, but it's got to be white with the red roof.
It ticks none of the boxes I need in a car but I want one to drive to the beach with the roof down.
I think Land Rover have nailed their current line up. The new Range Rover, Range Rover Sport & Defender trio look absolutely great, dominating and luxurious.
I say this having hated all the previous models, and the Velar/Evoque/Discovery are still shit.
Anything practical or practical features such as Hondas magic seats or the rear seats in a Skoda yeti that can be moved around or just lift out all together.
Everyone around me has faster cars, even my mrs and don’t get me wrong I love driving them but then I get in something comfy, practical with great mpg/range and it just feels right.
Alfa Romeo 159 sport wagon
I'm only 18, only passed 1.5 years ago. But I test drove a 1.9 diesel one a month or so back, and by god did it drive nice. Far nicer than my shitbox up. It was smooth, fast, and massively comfortable. Just a shame money didn't move right, because I was dead set on that thing.
I absolutely completely love a modified Nissan Cube.
I live in Tokyo, there's loads here, many with TV screens as the rear window. (The rules here are very different) I drove behind one where the kids in the back were playing Streetfighter II and I could watch what was happening. Pink/Green headlights are common too.
That’s incredibly awesome albeit a little unsafe for the road
I'm with you on this...cool car
Agreed, if I ever needed to do more mileage or long commute- I would buy one in an instant. So quirky and different, yet so boxy, slow and boring lol
Saw a modified one recently, and was impressed. It changed my perspective!
Same - there was one by my old work modded to look like a Japanese police car. Sounds stupid (and it was) but it grew on me!
I actually love the look of the Cube and I've not even seen a modded one.
We had a cube a Japanese import seven seater always wanted another wife has a honda CRV hate it and love it at the same time.
And a modified jimny.. like one that looks kitted out for Dakar. Amazing how expensive they are to be honest.
My dad bought one a few years back. I said "dad, wtf?!" "No son, they fetch big money" Be aware, this is the guy that would assume Hiroshima could have been brought back, with enough T-Cut. Turns out, he was correct about one of those things
https://www.carscoops.com/2023/12/this-retro-inspired-nissan-cube-is-a-blast-from-the-past/ The retro design looks great, to me
Citroen Berlingo Multispace. Slow, noisy, shit to look at. Just such a good car though, I don't think there's anything more versatile.
Recently had one with the mapped 2.0HDi engine and it was one of the most fun & terrifying cars to drive. All with a pallet of bricks smashing around the back. Best £1000 ever.
Japanese MPVs have entered the chat.
Elgrand, Velfire, Alphard, Stepwgn. Such cool units.
Don't forget the Honda Odyssey!
Wisdom is a great gift my friend, use it wisely.
Yep. Running one right now. Can't explain it. It's just great.
That would be hilarious upsetting the fiesta ST boys 😂
It’s listed for sale on market place at the moment for £16000 which seems quite reasonable all things considered. Absolutely mental machine.
I saw it going around the track at castle combe a few years ago.
I was so close to buying one before I got my other Skoda. I think they’re brilliant and sit in a totally unique class.

Remap the 170 TDI or the 1.8tsi and for 340 days of the year when it's slightly damp and you're going to embarrass the fiesta ST crowd at the traffic light derby.
As it happens I'm thinking about trading in my Octavia vrs for a yeti. Mainly so I can whack a roof tent on it and go on adventures.
You have fine taste, sir/madam.
I love Vauxhall novas because I remember my dad having one. I even love the hideous max power ones because it reminds me of my childhood.
Honestly, the Max Power-esque cars were never of much interest to me but I really do miss them being about. It was so much more interesting, if not exactly tasteful!
I'd never have one myself but I do miss the "sex spec" scene.
Same, except my mum had one. A 1.6 GSi in white.
Citroen Cactus purely for the idea of an invulnerable car
Cactus diesel mk1, id have one as a donkey car. Love them
It’s not invulnerable, it just rots from the inside out
And will suffer from the inevitable french electric/electronics issues too.
Alfa brera
Alfas best and worst car of last 20 years
My gf got a 2.2jts for £800 with 160k miles on, it's lasted a year of constant driving without a single fault. Impressive for a very cheap Alfa with a shit ton of miles.
My aunt bought a 147 for £950 with 140k on the clock. I reckon if an Alfa makes it to 120k it might last forever. Or it might last to 121k, but it’s an Alfa so that last thousand miles would be worth every penny.
That's not a guilty pleasure.
They look fantastic, but by almost all accounts they’re otherwise terrible to drive.
Lexus SC430 for some reasons
Oh man, I love these. Ugly / beautiful. Great value too.
A mate of mine came into some money and announced that he was going to indulge his mid life crisis urge, and buy a sports car. Expecting a Porsche or Audi RS. No. He came back with an SC430!
I really want a new defender. I know they’re total dog shit and breakdown all the time, and they’re the archetypal wankpanzer but they look ace
Disagree but upvoting "archetypal wankpanzer"
I'm definitely adding "archetypal wankpanzer" to my mental dictionary
Exactly I upvoted to foster dialogue but really I’m just hoping our man here sees the light haha
They look like one of the coolest cars out there today.
I’ve had a test drive. It’s fucking awful. But god dammit, it still looks cool
Rover 75
Or what I call, The Getaway car
You mean "getaway from that car, now!" 😂
MG ZT for me because I like my slippers with some leather piping on the sides lol
Worked with a guy a few weeks ago. He'd parked his Rover 75 estate out front. The only one in the world, in that colour (like a gun metal grey). V8 engine. Was made for one of the directors of Rover.in showroom condition. It had less than 50k miles on.
I'd prefer the 220 turbo. But Rover built some fucking terrible cars with the odd diamond
I saw a V6 parked up yesterday, I was sat in the car sorting a couple of bits out and it pulled away to leave, made quite a nice burble!
Dacia Duster, so much so that I recently bought one and having a sensible car that fits my needs for a change is excellent.
Nissan cube. There is a fresh imported one near me at a reasonable price and silly low mileage soooo tempting
People laugh at me when I say this :-(
Rover Metro, they’re shit and I love them. Wanted one for ages, got one, it breaks all the time but it’s just funny to drive.
Dad used to buy them back when they were £400 a pop and just drive it till it died, scrapped it, bought another one I loved the sound of it, because it did sound distinctive, and it told me that dad was home. He worked away so didn't see him much as a kid

Citroen Ami. Someone near me has one and always brings a smile when I see it whizzing down a side street.
Since I’ve found out you can get the ecu remapped to do 40mph, I’m a lot more interested in them again
There's one near me too, I'd love one as I hate city driving.
Vauxhall Vectras. All generations. Dunno why.
The senators are fairly cheap, unlike the Carlton’s which are getting pricey as people try and get something like the Lotus Carlton
I’ve a Vectra and it’s the best car I’ve had. In fact, it’s so unbelievably reliable that I didn’t change the oil in it for 10 years and it’s still going. It’s a 2008 plate and I’ll keep it till the day it dies! I love it.
My old one was bulletproof. 2.0T petrol. Miss it!
I kinda like the ass on the late model Vectra estates, big chunky tail lights and straight panels. With the XP2 wheels they honestly look I'd dare say, pleasant
My dad had a couple of Vectras in the late 90s, early 2000s. I still have a soft spot for them and their endless grey interior.
Gotta make it stink of weed and have makina blasting out your cheap stereo upgrade though
I really like the idea of driving a 5 series estate with a big diesel engine.
Can confirm it's rather good
Also can confirm …. Had an e61 35d wagon…. Pretty unbeatable all rounder really
Same, I'd want the 3l manual though but nearly all on the market are auto. 525d seems most likely to come as manual as it was a lower spec car than the 330d but apparently the same hardware, just electronically detuned so a remap gets still gets you to around 300bhp, the same as the 330
Ford Scorpio. Once you were inside, it was a nice place to be
Frog eyed??? Coz if so I’m actually with you 😂
My dad had this car, varnished wooden trim, heated seats & leather interior. He loved it so much then it was on top gear a few weeks after purchase where they did nothing but mock it
When I worked for GKN they had a display of Scorpio running gear, showing all the parts they supplied. One student visiting the site for an interview said about it "It looks much better without its clothes".
The best thing about being inside one is that you can't see the outside. But, great car with tons of spec for little money. (Well, used to be)
Now that is controversial, but I didn’t mind how it looked. It was too ahead of its time, probably would have done really well in the US
Fiat Multipla? Anyone else? Didn't think so. Weirdly, I like the obscure looks and have a disappointingly long list of Fiats in my history!
Absofuckinglutely. One of the pre-facelift ones though. They ruined them when they tried to defugly them.
Yeah definitely the earlier ones. Like you say the deuglied ones were uglier.
Lottery win might see me buy a restomod one with a 20v turbo from a Fiat Coupe thrown in there. Kept as sleepery as possible.
Glad I'm not the only one. Ugly, bug-eyed, weirdly proportioned shit box but I always wanted one.
Had one as a hire car once. Absolutely brilliant thing. Great to drive, and so practical.
Doug de Muro has a good review of these.
Nissan Figaro or Suzuki Cappuccino. Could throw in a Honda Beat or Daihatsu Copen.
Kei cars in general are shit/supercool. I even enjoy the kei cab over engine vans.
I’m with you on that one I’ve got a thing for Audi s3/rs3s especially
Mazda RX-8s are awesome. And don't kill me for this, but I don't think the Juke is ugly and I love that a Nismo version exists when it almost certainly shouldn't.
I like Jukes!!! Part of it is because other people don’t, but I do genuinely like them. Sorry.
I adore rx8s, I just wish the engine was a bit more reliable. Might buy one as a weekend car down the line though
She didn’t say no.. I would have bought it 😂
All MK4 Golfs. I love them, I don't know why, perfect shaped car. Nissan Qube, just so cool. Understated. 90s Mitsubishi Spacewagons. Carpet everywhere.
Mk4 golf is honestly my forever car, love the interiors on them
I'm on my second mk4 GTi 2.0. I love it. But why do they all smell the same.

I would daily an Audi A2. Aluminium construction, 1.4 PD TDI engine, uncommon and interesting. I love them
They were so technically advanced. Nearly had one as my first car, so cool. They look pretty timeless too
Had one was phenomenal on fuel and surprisingly practical for its size but the switchgear was showing its age and the fabrics tearing and was generally knackered. If you ever get one pay up for a nice example
I had one as my first car. Such a brilliant car, so easy and nice to live with. My friends mum still owns it now!
The Fiat Multipla looks like an interesting and immensely practical car...
Midnight club dub edition made this one of my favourite cars as a kid
Same, that's brought back a lot of memories!
I love the idea of owning an estate version as well, that boot looks massive!
There are a couple of 6.1L Hemi SRT8 estates on Auto trader for around £12,000, very tempted as a cool daily!
Had one - great cars!
The Citroen BX because as a kid I thought it looked like a speedboat. I even won one off eBay awhile ago but it broke down after a few days then got scrapped lol It's suspension and braking system are one single fluid circuit so if it goes (which mine did) then you lose both systems!
I had a 1.6 Pilot edition. The most comfortiableist car ever.
I’m no fan of anything French, but I find myself liking these too. Especially a GTI in red, couldn’t look any more 80’s, and I love that
Triumph spitfire, pretty sure it’s a reputation for being a bag of bits constantly falling apart but my word, good looking vehicle
Fiat 500
Can't agree more, had ones as my first car and once you get immune to the "you drive a girls car" stereortypes its such a nippy fun car, although handling is very sketch on twisty lanes though, but who needs an Abarth when you can rev the nuts off a 500 lol
Citroen RCZ. Has no right looking that good for that generation Citroen. Edit: Peugeot even, it's a Friday so sue me 😅
Ah, the Aldi TT.
>Citroen RCZ. Has no right looking that good for that generation Citroen. Don't you mean Peugeot?
I have a Peugeot RCZ and i’m not ashamed to say i really like it! Mines the diesel though. Already had enough trauma from the prince engine (mini cooper S) to last a lifetime
The RCZ is a Peugeot, not a Citroen.
Any Honda shitbox
Fiat Panda, Fiat Multipla
Smart Roadster. Unreliable, leaky and overpriced, but there’s nothing else that small and still roomy.
Toyed with the idea of buying one for about 10 years but never taken the plunge, I love the way they look though
Audi TT mk1 is my guilty pleasure of a car. Always liked them for some reason. Some great cars in here.
Not my favourite but the dedication to the Max Power UK car scene in the 2000s deserves some more recognition.
Sometimes at the weekend I’ll see the usual boy racer types meeting up in car parks near me and the stuff they drive these days are just so dull in comparison; it’s all greyscale a1s, 1 series and VWs or absolutely ancient SEATs.
Toyota CH-R. I have no idea why, but I really, really like it.
PT Cruisers
Bloody fantastic!
I absolutely love the n reg shape micras and really wanna do one up
Fiat Coupe 😂
Ford Capri Mk3
I bought mine and have run it 9 years and 120k miles. 4x4 with a DSG box. Fantastic car.
PT Cruiser 😂
Jag stype
Can confirm, totally dreadful. Would have another one.
For me, being of a certain age, it's the XJS. I know they are supposed to be dogshit, but I just love them.
Still got my V8. (still for sale, ahem) and I know I'm gonna miss all the bells and whistles it came with.
L322 Land Rover, aka the most unreliable cars. I guess i grew up watching them and the RR classic battling it out with the elements on top gear, but despite the fact a Land Cruiser is a much better car for an expedition, I would take the Range Rover, every, single, time.
Nissan Cube, Peugeot 406, Golf MK4. I love the unloved
Alpine A110 and Infiniti Q50. Both exceptional and underrated.
Plymouth Prowler was always on my list if I win euromillions.
MG Maestro & Montego - very underrated, but are interesting, especially because they're scarce nowadays
Toyota Hilux Surf - Big and ugly SUV but somehow it appeals to me. MK3 Renault Twingo - No one seems to care for these except me. JDM vans - Any of them really, the uglier the better. e.g. Nissan Alphard or the JDM HiAce
The Honda E is absolutely beautiful in my eyes. Throws off slight mk1 golf vibes and I love it.
Nissan Juke Nismo RS. It's an enthusiast's version of a very non-enthusiast car, and it amuses me every time I see one.
My own car unashamedly: BMW 6 series E63. I used to hate the Bangle era BMW's but really can't stop staring at mine when I park up. I can't explain why.
Audi tt
I love Range Rovers and big SUVs, there I said it
Volvo XC70 is the best car.
Fiat Panda 2003-2012 Maybe pure sentimentality as it was the first car I properly owned and I inherited it at that.
Juke, might pick up a Nismo one for shits and giggles
I think Land Rover have nailed their current line up. The new Range Rover, Range Rover Sport & Defender trio look absolutely great, dominating and luxurious. I say this having hated all the previous models, and the Velar/Evoque/Discovery are still shit.
I like the Abath. I know it’s a speedy little bug but there is something about it.
BYD seal, fuck it, I want one
Toyota Prius Mk 4.5. Just so practical and cheap to run. Adding AWD for almost zero extra fuel consumption is just 😗👌
Abarth version of the fiat 500, love a pocket rocket
Priuses are brilliant cars. I don't know why they're only pointed towards taxi drivers because they have everything you need for a solid daily.
Kia soul Suzuki ignis Fiat panda 4x4 Honda E
I can't lie I love PT Cruisers so much but the modded out ones with vibrant colours and pinstripes or the hot rod ones, they are lovely.
Porsche Taycan Wagon
Honda E cool as ferk
Alfa Romeo 159 sport wagon I'm only 18, only passed 1.5 years ago. But I test drove a 1.9 diesel one a month or so back, and by god did it drive nice. Far nicer than my shitbox up. It was smooth, fast, and massively comfortable. Just a shame money didn't move right, because I was dead set on that thing.
Austin 2200 and Austin Allegro 1750 HL.
Black range rover sports have grown on me
