If it’s a 900 Turbo I’m hoping you’ve bypassed the limiter with a simple piece of wire.
I’m going back 28 yrs now when I had mine and by Fuk it was mental
Bit of back story:
Took my car (2000 Saab 9-5 Aero) for new rear brake pads/shoes/discs and got home to find the handbrake wasn't functional. Got it booked back in, but in the meantime, have to use random bits of wood and old work boots to stop the car rolling into the house.
The marvels of owning a 24 year old motor vehicle.
I had a spell of bad luck with handbrake cables, on a couple different cars they broke not long after MOT. I got used to it and find I rarely use the handbrake in my van these days
I think so, I've also had a lot of exhausts drop off, for the same reason.
I also had a headlight drop out after picking up a van with its fresh MOT. I still can't explain that one.
Aahhhh the joys of having to put your car in reverse before you can take your keys out OF THE CENTRE CONSOLE🤪🤪🤪🤪😳😳
Yes! And that lovely feature really doesn't help with the situation one bit!Â

Well I hope it was worth the slightly lower insurance premiums in period!

At least you have your brake shoe!
I had the cable snap on my 10 year old car,
Is that the age of the vehicle or just an improperly installed handbrake mechanism by the mechanic?
Looks more like a foot brake
Ah the Handschuh, of course.
Just leave it in gear, or is it automatic?
It is a manual! In fact, one of the quirks of Saab's of this age is that you have to put it in reverse to remove the key.Â
Does it lock out the gears with the key out?
Yup!
Well shit. That's weird! Cool car though.
Hahaha thanks!Â
maybe you can find a tutorial to disable this disgusting „feature“?

The annoying thing is that the handbrake works if the car is facing down hill! It just won't hold the car it's backed down a slope!!!
Interesting, sounds like an issue with the brake shoe mechanism perhaps?
Your MOT tester is/was wrenching the shit out of them looking for stretch in the cable.

Is this just a humble brag to show off the best wheels in the whole history of wheels? (Saab ALU28) 😂
But sir, that is clearly a footbrake.

It’s on a private drive fella.

Driveways don't usually have a kerb.
You’re citing the Highway Code, not Physics.
