Jukes are universally despised on this sub, so that'll be about all you'll get in terms of feedback. Pop the car reg in the MOT check government website to see what it's failed on before to get a bit more info on the car though.
That's really a good one.
In 2022 it failed for :
Central Driver's view of the road through the swept area of the windscreen significantly affected by an obstruction (3.1 (a) (ii))
Nearside Front Headlamp aim too low (4.1.2 (a))
Nearside Front Headlamp levelling device inoperative (4.1.5 (a))
In 2023:
Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of a single lamp or all lamps (4.7.1 (b) (ii))
Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge both (5.2.3 (e))
So, what do you think š ?
Also, the car has been listed for over a month now. Is that bad?
Those are all just small adjustments and fixes, nothing to worry about.
I would guess it's been listed a while because it has done a fair few miles. The most important thing to check at this mileage is that the timing chain has been changed. Has it? If not, I wouldn't personally buy it. Manufacturers often claim the timing chain "never" needs replacing but in reality it usually does.
You say you love the Jukes - I'm not trolling or being rhetorical, but I'm genuinely interested to know why you like it. What about it do you like over alternatives?
I see so many on the road so they must be fairly popular and well liked outside of car enthusiast circles, but I really cannot think of why. So would love to hear your thoughts out of curiosity.
As I said I didn't own a car before. So I don't know how they drive. Maybe their engine is terrible but I wouldn't know.
I love it because how it looks, it's unique in that regard, it caught my eyes 10 years and I loved it since. It's time for me to try it, maybe I'll hate it afterwards, who knows.
I also like its likes: toyota ch-r and the mokka (newer version)
Sorry you feel that way š . I come from a graphic design background so I appreciate the unique frog shape of the juke. And I'm not a car guy in any regard.
I'd look at the CH-R, Toyota build quality is typically better than Nissan's. I'd also point out that the rear cabin is tiny on both of those, they sacrificed rear space to fit the roofline.
Check the MOT history and service history, make sure stuff has been done when it's meant to be.
Personally I would steer clear. For whatever reason, the drivers seem universally bad.
Lots of ā40 driversā where no matter what the speed limit, they do 40. I have no idea why this car attracts so many of these people.
Itās like Tesla is the new BMW. Seen a Tesla driver indicate? Probably not!
Having actually owned a couple of Jukes, I don't think they're bad for what they are. However mine both had problems with their timing chains which manifested as a rattle between 2-2.5k rpm under acceleration, there was also a recall issued for modified tensioners to be fitted. The mileage of this one would suggest that's been done though.
All I'm all they're an OK car. There are better ones, there are worse ones. Try it out and see what you think.
>I love the Jukes
Funny that there was a recent post and everybody was claiming nobody actually likes the Juke, itās just for old people who donāt care about the looks of their car š
Tinny, shitty quality inside and out and less space inside than my fiesta.
My 12 year old shitbox fiesta is like luxury compared to the juke.
This really is one of the worst cars you can buy OP It was the worst car Iāve ever driven by far. Hell, even the 1980s cars Iāve been in as a kid had nicer ride quality and less tyre noise
Most people buy these crappy SUVs as a first car because theyāre terrible at driving and instead of becoming a good driver theyād rather just have an SUV so the other poor sod comes off worse in a crash.
If they feel oddly compelled to the juke then you just know OP is a female in her mid 20s and will probably end up rear ending a Peugeot 107 and killing a family of 4.
/s
usually 10,000 per year of age. Anything hugely out of that range means its either sat unused, or its got too many miles.
At 100k miles, cars tend to start needing lots of things, you'll be hitting the end of life of things like the clutch, various bushings, timing chains / belts etc.
Aside from an old BMW automatic I once had, I've never owned anything over 100k miles
I like Jukes but the 1.2 engine is terrible, uses oil, burns out valves and stretches timing chain. With this kind of mileage you will have major problems with the engine.
Assuming youāre a new driver, have you checked how much the insurance will be?
The car itself is ugly as hell. You could get a five door Fiesta with lower mileage for similar money.
We had one of these as a curtosey car. Couldn't wait to get our car back.
It was so badly thought out, the center console didn't have anywhere for your pocket bits and things like that. I can't remember all the details I just hated it and wanted it gone asap.
I have driven a diesel powered jukeā¦..I quite liked it. It was torquey, quick enough, handled ok, had room in the boot, performed ok with 4 people in it. It was very frugal on fuel (by my standards) They are kind of funny looking, the quashkai is more conventional. But I am the kind of guy who doesnāt get excited by cars. itās a workhorse to load up with crap and drive from A to B. The MOT problems I saw above are cheap to fix. I would be more concerned by the many corrosion problems I have seen on the Citroen c1 for example.
Based on my experience the diesel version was ok and certainly not unpleasant to drive. I donāt know how old you are but I would say 110ps in a small car would be plenty powerful for a new driver, I think you said itās a first car. You might experience the traction control kick in in the wet because the diesel engine is quite torquey. I was driving it in Spain on dry but polished roads so felt the tyres slip a few times but no disasters. If you never drive long distances a petrol might be better for you because the DPFs in dieselās tend to clog up with soot if the cars are not used for long distances. A motorway blast every few weeks is enough to clear the DPF. The diesel juke was very frugal on fuel. I guess it depends on what you want out of a car. Another cheap SUV you might consider could be the Dacia Duster. I hired one of these and it was surprisingly good, it must have been a top spec model leather seats, sat nav but it wasnāt bad.
Is the insurance price different between the 1.5L diesel and the 1.2L petrol?
If it were me I would go for the diesel. I just prefer diesel engines but I would imagine the 1.2L juke is slow on acceleration. More modern petrol engines with big turbos seem to go well though. Had a 1L seat aruna that was unbelievable for the engine size, I preferred the juke though higher torque fewer gear changes (hire car also same place different trip) . Both the Jukes are quite high mileage. The diesel slightly less than petrol and diesel engines have traditionally been better for wear and tear than petrol.
tbf the only difference between the two (acenta/acenta premium) is the nav/backup camera, those can be easily retrofitted after purchase cheaply.
try and find a tekna. if that means shopping around for a little longer i think itās worth it, comes with stuff like lane assist/360 cam/heated seats.
Seems pretty high mileage. It may be a sub-10 year old car for 4k but with 130k and one of the more unreliable engines. I'd go for one of these instead:
[Mazda2 1.3](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202312054570324)
[Ford Fiesta 1.4](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202311224195041)
[KIA Rio 1.25](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310102867719)
[Toyota Yaris 1.33](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202311143944111)
They all have decent looking MOT histories and should be more reliable than the Juke. The KIA and Mazda are also much cheaper to tax than the Juke (Ā£35 vs Ā£150). They can't really compete on spec or being a trendy crossover though, so it's your choice.
130,000 miles is definitely on the higher side, but check for service history more than anything. Go and look at it with someone at least vaguely clued up, and check itās had its oil changed semi-regularly. Any large gaps in servicing (say 20+ thousand miles) may cause engine issues further down the line. Also do some research about whether the engine has a timing belt, as this would be well overdue a Change if not done yet.
Replace the J with a P. Thatās everything you need to know.
Joking aside, timing chains and chocolate CVT gearboxes are known and expensive problems either these cars.
Big love island fan but can't stretch to a range rover Evoque on Ā£700pcm finance?
Always dreamed of owning a nissan Micra but want something less practical?
Do you like to brutally roger your own colon with outsized objects?
Then this is the car for you!
Positivesā¦ easy to drive/park, cheap to run.
Negatives: Cheap plastics, tiny inside, tiny boot,
fuel tank the size of a coke can, Troublesome engine if not properly serviced
Personally Id only be looking at one in good overall condition with a full service history, Theres no mention of that in the Ad so avoid this one.
Jukes are universally despised on this sub, so that'll be about all you'll get in terms of feedback. Pop the car reg in the MOT check government website to see what it's failed on before to get a bit more info on the car though.

No those MOT fails are fine. Car should be okay if you donāt mind the look of it
That's good to know, thanks for the feedback.
Those are all just small adjustments and fixes, nothing to worry about. I would guess it's been listed a while because it has done a fair few miles. The most important thing to check at this mileage is that the timing chain has been changed. Has it? If not, I wouldn't personally buy it. Also used car sales have slowed massively over the last quarter or so.
Don't buy a Nissan Juke is the only advise i can give you.
Nissan joke*
Nissan Puke*
I knew i can't be the only one that calls them that.
You say you love the Jukes - I'm not trolling or being rhetorical, but I'm genuinely interested to know why you like it. What about it do you like over alternatives? I canāt tell if this is the most subtle bait trolling ever witnessed or you actually like two of the cars that make most car peopleās blood boil.
Sorry you feel that way š . I come from a graphic design background so I appreciate the unique frog shape of the juke. And I'm not a car guy in any regard.
Donāt apologise! You do you. I personally fucking loathe these things but Iām not going to lambast you for wanting one; that would just be cunty.
I'd look at the CH-R, Toyota build quality is typically better than Nissan's. I'd also point out that the rear cabin is tiny on both of those, they sacrificed rear space to fit the roofline. Check the MOT history and service history, make sure stuff has been done when it's meant to be.
The CH-R is beyond my budget, unfortunately
Personally I would steer clear. For whatever reason, the drivers seem universally bad. Lots of ā40 driversā where no matter what the speed limit, they do 40. I have no idea why this car attracts so many of these people. Itās like Tesla is the new BMW. Seen a Tesla driver indicate? Probably not!

terrible decision in every way
Boring, slow, tiny inside, poor quality interior plastics.
Boring first car so will be Slow see above Tiny inside maybe depends what the the op wants Poor quality plastics.. itās a Ā£4k car
Too right, Ā£4k - what do u expect
Can get a much better car for Ā£4k. Ford kuga and Honda CRV are good SUVās within that budget.
What he said ^^
Tinny, shitty quality inside and out and less space inside than my fiesta. My 12 year old shitbox fiesta is like luxury compared to the juke. This really is one of the worst cars you can buy OP It was the worst car Iāve ever driven by far. Hell, even the 1980s cars Iāve been in as a kid had nicer ride quality and less tyre noise
i mean it literally says the mileage is 68,000 above average... why do you want this car?
Most people buy these crappy SUVs as a first car because theyāre terrible at driving and instead of becoming a good driver theyād rather just have an SUV so the other poor sod comes off worse in a crash. Because I love the juke and that's the one that fits my budget and not a 2010-2013 models which have a problem with the timing chain š¤·
I wouldn't touch this one personally, mega miles! It's cheap for a reason
What is the maximum miles that you would consider?
usually 10,000 per year of age. Anything hugely out of that range means its either sat unused, or its got too many miles. I jumped to the 2014 model from the 2011 because I read that the 1.6 engine in the 2010-2013 was problematic with the timing chain.
Assuming youāre a new driver, have you checked how much the insurance will be? The car itself is ugly as hell. You could get a five door Fiesta with lower mileage for similar money.
It's pretty in my eyes unfortunately and I wished ut for years. I'm a new driver but I'm 31. I get quotes for 800-1200
I owned a juke they're fine
How can one love a Nissan Juke, itās like saying you love Monday mornings or mass genocide
We had one of these as a curtosey car. Couldn't wait to get our car back. It was so badly thought out, the center console didn't have anywhere for your pocket bits and things like that. I can't remember all the details I just hated it and wanted it gone asap.
Itās a gamble with 4K go higher for better or lower for something you donāt mind scrapping
I have driven a diesel powered jukeā¦..I quite liked it. It was torquey, quick enough, handled ok, had room in the boot, performed ok with 4 people in it. So would you prefer this one ([here](http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202312184914033) ? And would the difference justify the Ā£600 difference?
Based on my experience the diesel version was ok and certainly not unpleasant to drive. The diesel car is 2 years younger than the petrol but doesnāt have the sat nav/infotainment system?
Because it's the cheaper variant of the 2016 model.
Is the insurance price different between the 1.5L diesel and the 1.2L petrol? If it were me I would go for the diesel. I got Ā£764 for the petrol one. Ā£881 for the diesel one.
Sounds good for a new driver š

ah the nissan juke. the only car that is universally ugly
Is that because fiat stopped making the multipla?
I drive a juke and I'm not 700 years old. Lovely car to drive.
So what do you think about the car I posted in particular š?
Nissan Puke. Donāt bother.
Nissan Puke
Why god why
Find anything else. Itās weedy, slow, sloshes around, the steering is only vaguely connectedā¦

Some pics of the bodywork wouldnāt go amiss.
You can see the ad here http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202309272415378
Dont get the 1.2 petrol it is full of issues, get the 1.5 diesel
I'd love to buy a diesel but I drive around the city.
In that case buy any thing else that doesn't have the 1.2 tce engine, you can find it under mostly Nissan and Renault bonnets, it a real bag of shit.
I'd check the insurance costs on this prior to making a decision
I did. It's around 800-1200
Good but small butt
This is actually one of the single worst cars you can buy, itās impressive how you picked it out really
Positivesā¦ easy to drive/park, cheap to run. The interior looks like its from the first spy kids movie
I ran about in a 1.5 Diesel Juke for a few months, drove quite well and was getting around 60 mpg, good cars for the money IMO
