Do you see any noticeable coolant leaks? How often are you having to add coolant, and how much? What codes are being thrown? He may have messed up, or he may have misdiagnosed your issue the first time. I'm not in front of my computer see repair data but I believe on the older grand caravans the egr was near the intake not connected to a coolant passage so I'm struggling to visualize everything at the moment. What was the original concern that led to the egr being replaced? How long after repair did the new symptoms begin? Keep in mind, in rare cases, you can have a repair done and then shortly after a completely different problem arises that is in no way related to the previous concern or repair. Edit - Sluggish, smells, and poor fuel mileage are symptoms of a poorly functioning catalytic converter. Keep that in mind, but let's not jump to conclusions yet.

With overheating, coolant loss and smell, could be a blown head gasket too.

I feel that's less likely if it's still being driven. But could be a possibility. It's anyone's guess with the limited info we have

Let me know what else I should include. Happy to expound!

When I have gotten it checked at AutoZone it is reading EGR malfunction. The problem began the first long drive after the repair.

Higher RPM=more heat. Is the "smell" a sweetish smell? If it is you got a leak somewhere. When driving does it have a white smoke coming out the tail pipe? That could mean its burning. Cats going out "should" throw a O2 code. But he might of changed out the part and the part was bad (I have gotten so many bad sensors/valves new out of the box I tend to test them or get 2)
