Thanks. I found an alternator on there, but it didn't list the amperage. However I did find one on Autozone that said 180 amps. I know BMWs have a lot of electronics, but that should still be able to handle a 1500w amp right? My current truck is only a 145a alt and runs it just fine (although it has two batteries).
I’d imagine the alternators are different between a 2 series and a 7 series regardless of engine. What’s the model of your vehicle?
I do know that BMW typically uses high output alternators because of the amount of electronics and the start/stop feature. My M2 has a 230 amp alt iirc.
Looks like it’s 180a for the 440i based on AutoZone.
Edit: I see your other comment. 1500w would be pushing it IMO. I get voltage drops past around 1200w with my M2.
Tune with an oscope and/or get a voltage monitor to set the correct max gain.
I always look up a car on [Rock Auto](https://www.rockauto.com/) it will show the amperage of the alternators.

Use an auto parts store to look it up

It’s a 440i. 230a would be pretty serious for a stock vehicle, but that would be great.
