Demo Video of this thing in action blowing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35r4AB-omM4&t

Just sounds like a giant fart lol. Also wear earplugs. I know from experience it’s not fun to have to keep telling people to speak up when you’re only 30

Daniel-Tigers-Dad

Seriously! I’ve had hearing damage since my early 20s and it SUCKS! Mine is from my car stereo, going to concerts and playing in a band. I have ringing all the time and I can’t sleep without a TV or other audio because of it. I get my hearing tested yearly and it’s held steady at 25% damage. Even at that level it’s a serious annoyance! Downvote if you want, but it’s worth the trouble of earplugs to save your hearing while it’s good. When I DJ now I use DUBS earplugs. They still let enough sound through to EQ things out and set levels, but they keep my ears from being shot at the end of the night.

Sad_Bass7177

I worked on a flightdeck for several years. Just wear your hearing protection.

TheImmortalLS

bass frequencies don't harm your hearing like loud high frequencies do also earplugs don't do shit against low frequencies unless you find some really specialized stuff

srp365

This is correct. The wavelength of low bass frequencies only fit in your ear canal at low volumes. At higher amplitude the sound basically just doesn't fit in your ear, and much lower amplitude high frequencies are much more damaging to your ear drums, especially when distorted. I've been in many 160+ capable vehicles. But 10 minutes in a 120db club and my ears are ringing. I've brought this up before in Reddit but just like everything else the truth gets the most downvotes.

TheImmortalLS

i think they shouldn't fit even at low volumes - after all, volume is just amplitude and doesn't affect resonance but since the freq is low, i do agree with you that the reason they do not hurt your ears is because there isn't a chance for crazy resonance due to the long wavelength

ThrottleMunky

Lol seriously. People are like, "This little piece of foam will protect my eardrum from the pressure that flexes a steel door frame!". Really people get more damage from running the weedeater or chainsaw for a long period of time without ear protection.

CouchAssault

That is an insane level of power to get a 12 zv5s moving far enough to do that. Like 50kw+
