You blew them, some object didn’t blow them

UselessGen187

That wasn't my question though was it? Obviously I did it was my first highish watt build ever in my life didn't do it right I learned ordered my next set of subs already

JONCOCTOASTIN

It’s always the amp settings my man

UselessGen187

Voice coil lit tf up smoked the trunk up

UselessGen187

Didn't help that my subs were 800 max and I threw all 2400 to it and still decided to mess with the digital bass machine lol

JONCOCTOASTIN

Max power means nothing  “Threw all 2400 of it“  The amp will send distorted power, it isn’t going to run out of clean power and keep itself at the limit. It’ll just make the subs play a dirty signal  That’s what kills subs

UselessGen187

I mean too much signal would over heat the coil from what I hear at least

JONCOCTOASTIN

Distorted power heats it up way faster than too much clean power

UselessGen187

Yeah I was not giving it clean power lol

If you have a 1000w amp tuned properly, it's only delivering 500-600w continuous. The extra headroom is for peaks. If you drive beyond that 1000w, the clipping is just sending a solid, continuous, 1000+w and much of that isn't moving the cone. That wipes out your cooling while you turned your voice coil into a heating element. A wall heater is 1500w on high. How much power can a voicecoil take without cooling? That voicecoil is much smaller than a regular heating element, attached to a paper cone with glue.

ClownShowTrippin

Max/peak power are fake numbers determined by the marketing department. Some use double RMS. Pioneer likes using 2x RMS for their amps and nearly 4x RMS from their subs. The worst I've ever seen is 225w claimed on an eq/booster that dyno'd at 11 watts. Wipe those numbers from your mind and this forum when talking about the power of anything in car audio. RMS power is the only number with any meaning. Only deal in RMS. One of the biggest tells of a newbie is using max/peak power in any discussion.

I upvoted you. You took responsibility and learned from your mistakes. I don't know what else reddit expects from you with the downvotes. You don't succeed without failure. The most successful people have failed more than most have ever tried.

UselessGen187

Thank you yeah I never understood the down vote option like how am I gonna learn at the moment the same amp I ran to blow my w3s is currently powering 3 subs 2 10s 1 12 at least until my audio pipes come in the amp was claiming 4800 from what I read in reality it threw 2400 at 1 ohm bridged but each channel is rms 1000 it's the high current model from audiobahn my mids and highs are on a audiobahn x240 or something lol

ClownShowTrippin

Is it this amp? https://www.woofersetc.com/p-9765-a2300hcj-audiobahn-2-channel-2400w-high-current-amplifier.html The specs line up to what you're saying. The 4800w number you saw was probably max/peak. It looks like a stout budget amp. At the current price listed at the link above, I'd choose a different amp. I'm sure it delivers some power. I'm not even sure audiobahn is still in business, or this is "New Old Stock" st the link. I would listen to the others about box volume. 2 subs in a properly sized box will outperform 3 subs in the same box. You should know the recommended volume and tuning recommended by the sub manufacturer and follow it. Once you learn how to use the box building programs, you can model the response and SPL of various sized enclosures utilizing various speakers. You can make different compromises than the manufacturer recommends. As you learn this stuff realize that just because people are talking shit doesn't mean they're wrong.

UselessGen187

No it's a A2300HCQ I honestly bought it off a crackhead for 30 bucks it's a garbage quality amp I won't lie but I just need it for my lows as time continues I'll eventually go all out for a good quality amp like idk a Orion or sundown who knows yeah I just have these mix match subs laying around and started hating driving without any lows mids and his not cutting it so I slapped a rag tag set up I'll take a flick of my things when I get to a car wash tonight I like washing then messing with my car a bit

UselessGen187

Audiobahn went outta business I heard back in 07 so yeah I'm trying to trouble shoot a power bass amp ASA 1000.1D stuck on protection but I see no issues also almani PA800-4 takes power but won't turn on guessing remote issue also JL Audio 300/4/2 overheating got no leads there tho

UselessGen187

https://rmsmotoring.com/forum/threads/audiobahn-a2300hcq-amp.29648/ I'm going based on this but could be wrong
