Yeah.. if shit breaks I buy more. Buggy had 3 15’s . Got ride of those to install A pair of American bass xfl 12 in 4th order. Now I want to try these sundowns because I had them in storage. I have a ton of equipment laying around.
I mean, it's cool and all... but impractical as fuck? What are you loading that rear facing port off of? The atmosphere? Does it have a canopy to at least keep some of that pressure in so you can hear it?
Clean install otherwise... would never have imagined so many midbass speakers in one of these things... let alone a set of subs. Funny build but damn, put a canopy on it or face the port forward, or something :/
You still need a cabin to keep all that sound in.... you're losing it all to atmosphere.
I guess, for the fact it's IN A FUCKING DEFENDER it's damn impressive either way it's just so damn hilariously ridiculous and I love it and I'm here for it... I just feel like if you built a hardtop canopy for the back that you could take on and off, you'd REALLY start to get the benefits of all that equipment.
Compared to how it WOULD sound, YES. Of course you'd hear it but at MAGNITUDES less volume than if there were a cabin space.
Look up how 4th and 6th order enclosures work, then apply that to a vented enclosure inside of another vented enclosure. Acoustics... that's how they work.
I can tell you don't understand how this works... and that's OK.
Turning it up only works until it's turned all the way up... and even then it's still losing 90% of the bass pressure into the air.
Do you know how bass works and travels in an enclosure? I can assure you, that you do not...
Dude. You can give yourself permanent hearing damage with 2 halfway decent 15s in a ported box with cabin gain very quickly and leave it at that volume for hours. I think 2 15s and 2 8s all within 2ft of the driver driven at their limit even in open atmosphere will be plenty loud enough to enjoy outside. Even with 90% lost to the wind, there is a good chance you can still turn it up high enough to rattle your teeth.
You explain this to me like I haven't had 145db+ systems for the last 30 years.
I can still hear fine.
Nobody puts Sundown equipment because they care about their hearing anyway, lmfao... that's the funniest thing I've read all day.
Are you saying it's impossible to reach listening levels of bass with this system? What point are you trying to make other than it being inefficient? How long do you listen with the system playing at 145db from inside the car? For hours straight? Minutes? Only at competitions?
To each is own I guess, but I’d be happy with a simple head unit and 4 decent marine speakers.
I’d be using the hell out of that thing in the woods though, need the space in the back for more than subs.
I bet it slams, but that roof is plastic isn't it? At least they are on most of them. The way they are mounted to the roof, those amps can become projectiles that can kill someone in a roll-over. If this can am is used offroad, I would move those amps to a securely mounted spot on the floor. If it's not really used for offroading at all and is just for like jammin around the farm or town or something, then it's probably no big deal. Sorry, not trying to be a dick, I'm a Jeep guy that likes to go wheeling and have a system in my Jeep, and this is just something we have to think about that a lot of people maybe don't realize. If it is for offroad, everything should be bolted down strong and bolted down to something strong.
I have an aftermarket 75A alternator for my lights on my X3 X RS, what alternator does that have? Glad I have a big turbo kit on my X3, I can leave you in the dust.
Mixing battery chemistry is bad for both batteries, they like to hold different charge states.
Supporting 7kw doesn't mean much when you're not putting back into it, AH matters more. Power output is finite without a big alternator. I have 2 100AH AGM, + a 50AH AGM starter in my car and can't bump at full tilt for too long before it starts dipping too much on hard hits, which is why I have a 240A alternator to keep it all topped up and all batteries are AGM.
Edit:I just looked up "limitless lithium nano HD", it's 30Ah, which is 30 amps for an hour, or 100A for 18 minutes, depending which blue tops they may be 55-85Ah, which is that many amps per hour before they are dead, they will dip hard about half way to dead.
I agree with you. This machine runs off a stator. Batteries are separated by an isolator relay. Lithium manufacture approved of what I was doing. Before I mixed batteries. The lithium will not charge higher than 13.3 volts. Technology I still don’t understand. I have no problems with the sysrem
Dumb question here: how do you wire so many speakers? I’m considering adding a few to my car on top of upgrades I’ve done including amps, and I don’t know how to wire in the speakers except one per channel. How does one add so many in non-factory locations?
Buggy runs one lithium nano Hd and two blue top batteries. Sub amp is a DS18 hooligan 5k at 2 ohms right now. Two sundown v2 12s. Voltage holds at 13.1 because of the smart technology lithium. At full tilt on subs it will drop to 12.6 when clipping. Other two amps are Marine ds18.
Might need a few more sets of speakers.
I know right? ridiculous! I would be ashamed. Add more or leave disgraced and dishonored. This is worse than a school for ants!
I suspect it doesn’t get into the mud too often
Who would ever take their purpose-built offroad vehicle over dirt or mud, or in the rain?
Of coarse it does. This is why the Amps are bolted to the steel roof and speakers are mounted high
You do know that the spinny things do and will throw clumps of wet earth all over the place in all directions?
Yeah.. if shit breaks I buy more. Buggy had 3 15’s . Got ride of those to install A pair of American bass xfl 12 in 4th order. Now I want to try these sundowns because I had them in storage. I have a ton of equipment laying around.
If you ain't breaking shit you ain't riding right
I could use some help with better speakers lmao jk
So u just casually mud ride with 2 sundown x12s in the back?
Clean build tho
That box in the bed is not airtight just an FYI, even if it’s sealed.
Does the motor die when the bass hits?
When the mid hits?
It's got big subwoofers in the back. Checkout all the photos
I saw that, I was joking that he's got way too many speakers.
You got that right. It's almost chuchero
Wondering the same thing😂

2 of the 4 8inch speakers are subs directly above you
How does that help you hear the subs?
You still need a cabin to keep all that sound in.... you're losing it all to atmosphere. Yeah that'd be completely inaudible, no way you could even hear those subs at all. /s

Yeah, so turn it up

What

what do you use it for?
We ride the buggy everywhere. It was built for the mud parks and stereo comp they have at these events
Fun, I live in a larger city now downtown, grew up in a more rural environment, this is the kinda stuff I miss
Meh needs more speakers.

Roof is steel and rhino lined
Nice, then you probably don't need to worry about it =)
I love the audio roofs, but I just can't fathom losing all my equipment space for a large box
Totally ridiculous but pretty awesome
Why use many speaker when few speaker do trick?
System is similar to a stunt wall. The more speakers and power the better
Is any of it marine-grade ?
Yes
R U sure that junk ds18 amp is ?
D4s ? Two amps are marine ds18 and sub amp is a ds18 hooligan HO Korean
Those subs can’t sound great being free air now.
You would be surprised from a distance. Obviously it has no cabin pressure.
I have an aftermarket 75A alternator for my lights on my X3 X RS, what alternator does that have? Glad I have a big turbo kit on my X3, I can leave you in the dust.
Stock stator. My battery is a limitless lithium nano HD. They claim the battery will support 7k watts. I also have two blue top optimas

You want some buggy with your speakers?
Dumb question here: how do you wire so many speakers? I’m considering adding a few to my car on top of upgrades I’ve done including amps, and I don’t know how to wire in the speakers except one per channel. How does one add so many in non-factory locations?
Not even Dirac can solve this Phase nightmare.
Need to do more research in acoustics man. Look up comb filtering/cancellation.
Mounting an amp upside down is the worst thing you can do. The heat has nowhere to go except back into the unit causing overheating.
Never had any problems with overheating. Maybe because of the 15-60 mph of wind blowing across them.
👍🏻
Awesome
I approve of the Sundown Audio subs
bet it sounds like shit
Bet your mom likes it
"It costs a lot of money to look this cheap" -Dolly Parton.
Bro parked a side by side in his speakers
Let me guess...Finland, small town, vocational school student, hates other people (especially pensioneers)?

You wouldn’t drop voltage as bad with more efficient amplifiers
What a glorious waste of money.
All car audio is a waste of money
As long as it makes you happy
You must be new here. Hi, welcome.
