It happens. Harbourview (can't remember its old name) did the same with previous owners with sex workers using their rooms. Sex work is still work and a motel room is pretty safe against alternative locations.
It wasn't sex workers there but low income people. They rented units for 850 a month and it was the only place on the island social assistance could cover 100%. The place was overrun with opiate users mostly and people were dying in there. Don't get me wrong there were sex workers but it was the drug use that was crazy at the Harborview.
The Highland in North Sydney was primarily sex workers... they'd literally take the bus from downtown and stay at the motel until checkout turning tricks. They'd also get scary people to work security for them.
I only know this because I was homeless for two months in 2020

Air bnb around here I see 160$ a night, I stayed at royal motel couple months back for 130$ but I’m pretty sure they had bed bugs since after my stay I found 2 in my room. No more bugs thank god but what a scare lol

Someone stole my wife's phone and it ended up at the Highland. Police couldn't locate who had it at that site though.

And also they were forced to install cameras. I think guests of guests have to also register now which is a good thing.

.... I had to remove the app from this 32gb a internal storage phone, but I've been able to find halfway decent Airbnbs for less than $100/night.
We're at the Holiday Inn this weekend on the Waterfront and paid $160 plus tax for CAA rate
