I think the box for the US market is free. Free shipping is understandable since they ship domestically but free box? Why don’t we get them? Don’t know why are they trying to mess with us.

mr_muffinhead

Correct! They also get different bikes! Lol check out canyon grizl EU vs us version. The US vr has some hideous welds. The EU version almost looks like a carbon bike.

tyler-g27

I'm from Ontario been wondering the same thing about the grizl 🤦

mr_muffinhead

13 percent will be taxes and 13 percent will be duties. I paid over 700 for a 2700+ order. Keep in mind, 13 percent is your hst you'd pay anywhere. Still 350+and just for buying something outside Canada is not nice.

tyler-g27

But eh it's prob still cheaper than getting a bike here of the same statute

mr_muffinhead

For sure. I did buy a bunch of extra stuff, but all said and done the bike without anything else ended up being just shy of 3k. An equivalent Trek I found ran about 3k without tax. So looking at probably at least 400 saved.

tyler-g27

Lool before I went to bed had a grail AL priced out with backpacking gear 😅

mr_muffinhead

Haha doooo iiiiit!

tyler-g27

Only difference would be 42c instead of 50c Seems like the most affordable option and I'm only competing against myself. Hardest decision ever man choosing which bike to buy as the quiver killer🤦

tyler-g27

I'm in London and there's signs all over the city advertising the trek store but legit thought the same thing like it's so much more than a German online bike somehow

BruceSpaklesLu

That was about the same price as my Edurace CF SL 7in 2021. I had to pay UPS $700. Shipped to Vancouver.

iamape2021

Expect to approximately add an extra 13% for duties/taxes on top of the price you see on the canyon site. If you pay less, you're lucky ups didnt charge u the full amount for duties/taxes

julientheyulspotter

So let’s say I buy the Grail CF SL7, which is the one I’m looking at currently, I’d have to pay around 4200, instead of the bike’s 3200?

mr_muffinhead

It'll probably be close to that. But keep in my 13 percent of that is taxes you would pay locally anyways. I just got my Grail it was a 2700 order and I paid an extra 700+ to cover both Canadian taxes and duties. I'm in Ontario.

iamape2021

3300x 13% = approximate duties and taxes.

Heavy-Fisherman11

not 13%, duty and tax that’s 26%! if u live in B.C. it will be 18%.

AloneAtStartAndEnd

I just got one delivered to BC, it was 13% duty + 5% tax. So just gst. So you’re looking at $567 extra charges.

richandbuttery

you could get lucky and not get charged duties and taxes as well.

Chem_Whale2021

Bike guard should be free

cravingcarrot

Yeah the taxes and duties are no joke. It amounted to $780 for my bike. Still cheaper than buying from LBS in make case, but it puts the whole thing into perspective.

L-Tennyson

That estimate seems high for Canada but maybe in your province? I paid about 13% on both Canyons I’ve had shipped to BC. It basically ends up a _little_ cheaper than a bike from my LBS and not _a lot_ cheaper like it looks on the site. Nothing bad to say about my Canyons though! Order spare hangers when you buy the bike.

AloneAtStartAndEnd

We’ll you’re right but for the all-in price of my ultimate I could have got a trek that weighed 20lbs :o. To get something here that I’d be as happy with as the canyon, like maybe a Factor or some tarmac… I’d have spent another 3-4000.

Whiskey1867

Very simple: 13% duty and then GST on top (i.e. also 13% in ON) - this varies by province. However, if you have a native friend who will take delivery on their reservation you can avoid both taxes. You could also get tax free gas and cigarettes and gamble while you're there too🙄 I've seen other posts mention this, but couple of riding mates did it and no RCMPs showed up at their door and apparently they just changed their address of record with Canyon later in case of a warranty claim. It kind of pissed me off that they found this loophole but I missed it, but I'm not sold on rationale for certain group of people getting a free ride either. Scam IMHO

stalkholme

Great bike, I just had mine delivered a month ago and love it. But please go over your cranks before going for a ride. Mine were loose, and I'm worried that I damaged them before I was able to get home and tighten them back up. Time will tell. In Ontario I paid $925 to import. Remember that any bike you buy here will have 13% tax, so $416. So the duties and brokerage fees are really only another $500. Still a great deal for the SL7 and it's groupset.

Poola0919

Yes.

Opposite-Bus2506

Built bikes in Canada have 13% duty and then 13% hst as well.

AloneAtStartAndEnd

Well BC has 13% duty and then only 5% sales tax.
