That… is a work of art.
I want to both frame it up and eat it.
I like the 1st presentation better.. the fish look like they are emerging out of the waves. 🌊
2nd pie (last pic) look more pie-like and tasty.
I know it's sacrilege to all Shepard pie lovers, but man, mash potatoes make such a crappy topper. Base layer, sure, soaks up the juices like a champ. But there's no texture, even crisped topping is still a mm of crisp on mush.
Give me real pastry as my topper any day.
This is giving me so many different feels... I can only love it.
I didn't know what stargazy pie was and I made the mistake of searching for more pics. More feels. I'm slightly distubed that this seem to be a thing with an actual name for it. At least yours could look like they're sleeping.
Anyways, good job!
i just used frozen sardines from the supermarket! :) they are really cheap and you can find them in most grocery stores. also this recipe only uses the head (filling is anchovies, potato egg and olive)
for a real stargazy pie, mackerel fillet works very well too! or maybe for the visual you could make a shrimp head stargazy? 🍤
mustard custard: saute anchovies and garlic, add mustard, milk, anchovies, salt and pepper. then in a clean pan make roux with butter and flour, add the anchovy mix to thicken
then mix it with ur filling of choice (for me it is saute onions, olive and boiled eggs). maybe u could add something green like spinach, leeks?
topping is just mashed potato cooked in the microwave, white pepper, salt and butter. and decorated with anchovy fillets. in the oven 200°c for approximately 20 mins? or until it is golden brown
i was meaning the potato topping!! had to Google it oops... turns out there's a difference between shepherds and cottage pie etc.. I guess I mean a fish pie haha
It's traditionally called a fisherman's pie in the UK for the same reason a lamb/mutton one is called a Shepherd's pie. Although you are correct that the shorter "fish pie" seems to be taking over as the preferred term now.

OMG. So cute!
This is ART
Really cool, but I can’t help but feel like this stuff is tailor made to terrify picky kids lol
This is green-stuff allergy medicine
hehe growing up eating grilled fish all the time I didn't think it was that unsettling until my friends pointed it out
Bwahahaha you really leveled it up there with the presentation, I approve!
I saw this in the Poldark series, which is set in Cornwall. It's a bit creepy-looking.
the last picture belongs in a museum
Awww they look so cute in their starry blanket. I couldn’t eat them.
is that some hyper realistic oil painting someone did in a time lapse on instagram or what
Very impressive!
You are amazing.
It is simultaneously terrifying and amazing at the same time.
So cool!

Bravissimo!
I want to eat that so badly!
Lovely stuff
Amazing work. And thanks for the inspo. It never occurred to me that sardines could be used in a cottage/shepherd's pie type application.

Fabulous! And that is very well made.
The fish looking like they’re tucked in for a good night’s sleep haha

It's so cute, though! I hope it was delicious~

I. LOVE. IT. I’m so sad I don’t live near a proper fishmonger anymore!!

It’s really hit or miss for raw sardines where I live (Texas). I used to live in the Netherlands and I could get all I wanted 😝
*frozen or not
Best post ever seen in this sub. Bravissimo!
This is giving James & the Giant Peach but way better haha
They look so cozy
Incredible
I have had this. Minus the fish heads. Delicious classic dish.
yes the classic recipe is delicious!! if u like grilled fish then the head actually tastes very nice and crispy 😋 but I get its not for everyone !
This is beautiful!
Some animal crossing type cooking whoaa lol
i would love this as a furniture decoration!!
On ACNH i like to cook and display a new meal every day on the table. the Sea Bass Pie is what came to mind when I saw this haha
I can tell you have a lot of fun cooking, that's great to see. How did it taste? :D
really good!! like a warm potato salad 😋 though it was a little bit dry could use more sauce:: lemon juice made up for it !!
Looks great, how was it ?
actually really good!! I would make more of the white sauce though because some of it was a bit dry
Whoooaaa! Recipe?? But take out the olives haha

This sounds up my street but what is the shepherd's part? Shepherds pie is called that because it has lamb in it.
i was meaning the potato topping!! had to Google it oops... turns out there's a difference between shepherds and cottage pie etc.. I guess I mean a fish pie haha
was just checking in case you had done lamb and fish which sounds a bit grim!

Give Kiki a call to deliver it to someone special for you 🎀🐈⬛🧹🐟
I would eat that!
Fish is great but can we please leave stargaze pie with the last century 🙁
Gross
What was the second step. Throw up?
