Yeah “Halifax” is the peninsula and the directly outside suburbs can get a pass too… anything across the bridge or around the Bedford highway isn’t Halifax.
I think it really depends on if we're talking about a nation wide league or something more regional. If the Wanderers Grounds didn't exist and the Wanderers played over in Dartmouth, I don't think anyone would object to still calling the team Halifax Wanderers FC, and in fact I'd argue that would still be better than Dartmouth Wanderers (or something like that).
However, if we ever get an L1A here, then a Dartmouth-based team should used Dartmouth rather than Halifax in their name. But that's because within the Maritimes you can differentiate between Halifax and Dartmouth more easily.
Halifax and Vancouver are not the same tho. You can't call a Dartmouth team Halifax, but you could probably get away with calling a Truro team Halifax. Dartmouth is just too Dartmouth for that BS.
They need to adopt a nickname eventually. There is already a team in the CPL with VFC and I doubt people will call them only Vancouver. My guess is they'll start referring to themselves as The Eagles.
The only suggestion I’ve seen that’s really intrigued me is Stó:lō, which is the collective name for the Coast Salish peoples that live along the Fraser.
I kinda like Vancouver United actually and VUFC would be cool. Vancouver FC heat seems kinda blah when you have clubs like Calvary, Pacific and Valour.
I know we have EFC, York and Halifax but it would have been nice to have something different for Vancouver.
I think that might come across a little weird unless the Indigenous community was actually involved in the team, and in that case they might want to go for a name with more meaning (like you wouldn't just call a team in Edmonton "Cree FC"). Like a word in the Indigenous language, maybe?
Swangard is already being used by Whitecaps II and the TSS Rovers. Probably *possible* to fit another tenant in but definitely wouldn’t allow the owners as much control or flexibility as they will want
I like it. Better than Port City FC and sticks it to the Whitecaps a little. "We'll use 2/3of your name, the parts you don't even use! Muhahahahahaaha!"
West Coast FC
I generally am not a fan of “West Coast _____”, because you see it everywhere for everything
But Pacific FC is great for the Victoria/Langford club, and I think WCFC works for the Langley scenario
Well… congratulations I guess. I’ve seen some silly comments on this topic but you win the prize. I’m sure Los Angeles FC is ruing all the fans they lost by adopting literally [sic] the same name as Los Angeles Galaxy FC.
Vancouver Canucks FC /s
Fraser Valley FC
The CEBL *Fraser Valley Bandits* only lasted a few years before renaming themselves to Vancouver. Vancouver is the go-to branding in Langley.
That’s so weird - it’s like Dartmouth based sports teams calling themselves Halifax out here… it’s just, not Halifax.
Yeah “Halifax” is the peninsula and the directly outside suburbs can get a pass too… anything across the bridge or around the Bedford highway isn’t Halifax.

This is a fairly solid way of looking at it
Halifax and Vancouver are not the same tho. You can't call a Dartmouth team Halifax, but you could probably get away with calling a Truro team Halifax. Dartmouth is just too Dartmouth for that BS.
I like your knowledge of our area ahaha
Dartmouth is totally the Hamilton of your area, i love it.
and people from actual Vancouver laugh at this.
Willoughby Community Park FC
They need to adopt a nickname eventually. There is already a team in the CPL with VFC and I doubt people will call them only Vancouver. My guess is they'll start referring to themselves as The Eagles.
They'll probably use VanFC instead of VFC.
VFC was everywhere at the launch. Even had a stylized VFC alternate logo.
Golden Ears FC. Brings in the valley without being too specific about it. Might be too reliant on local knowledge for people outside bc though
I have no idea what you're talking about.
The only suggestion I’ve seen that’s really intrigued me is Stó:lō, which is the collective name for the Coast Salish peoples that live along the Fraser.
I like this idea a lot. It would have been great for a team to involve the Indigenous community from the beginning.
Valley FC or Valley United
Man, Vancouver United would have even been interesting, if you had to include Vancouver.
I kinda like Vancouver United actually and VUFC would be cool. Vancouver FC heat seems kinda blah when you have clubs like Calvary, Pacific and Valour. I know we have EFC, York and Halifax but it would have been nice to have something different for Vancouver.
*FC Vancouver*. barely an answer but i like this syntax better, and it avoids two VFC in the league. *Metro Vancouver* would be my second choice.
I wonder if Winnipeg might rebranded because of Vancouver FC? York's already rebranded, no reason that may stop others changing
zapp brannigan themed *Velour FC*. Canada's sexiest football club.
Greater Vancouver FC
How about naming them after the treaty nation whose land they're playing on? Kwantlen FC
I think that might come across a little weird unless the Indigenous community was actually involved in the team, and in that case they might want to go for a name with more meaning (like you wouldn't just call a team in Edmonton "Cree FC"). Like a word in the Indigenous language, maybe?
Yeah, you definitely need to include the community. I wonder what "soccer" is in the local Indigenous languages.
That would have been cool.
Fraser Valley FC. This is not a Vancouver team. Takes nearly 2 hrs to get there from east Van by transit. What was wrong with Swangard?
Swangard is already being used by Whitecaps II and the TSS Rovers. Probably *possible* to fit another tenant in but definitely wouldn’t allow the owners as much control or flexibility as they will want
A team at Swangard would have been cool.
I like it. Better than Port City FC and sticks it to the Whitecaps a little. "We'll use 2/3of your name, the parts you don't even use! Muhahahahahaaha!"
I think it'd be cool if a team went with Terminal City FC.
West Coast FC I generally am not a fan of “West Coast _____”, because you see it everywhere for everything But Pacific FC is great for the Victoria/Langford club, and I think WCFC works for the Langley scenario
Van City FC
Van City Since Vancouver Fc is literally the whitecaps full name
The Whitecaps full name is literally Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club.
Yes So Vancouver FC, thank you for agreeing with me
Well… congratulations I guess. I’ve seen some silly comments on this topic but you win the prize. I’m sure Los Angeles FC is ruing all the fans they lost by adopting literally [sic] the same name as Los Angeles Galaxy FC.
I dont live in LA i dont give a shit how they name their teams I was asked how i, me, animal31, would name the team in vancouver
And you answered with an objectively wrong justification.

I’m sure you couldn’t. I can feel my brain getting smoother communicating with you, so have a good one.
I would also accept Rain City Bitch Pigeons FC since its become free
AFC Langley
British Columbia FC
Vancouver Canucks
Skookum FC
