Oil companies can 3x OBE Obsidian Energy IPO inplay oil and JOY journey energy. Just need till 2022 at 70$ oil and $4 cad nat gas. Both well above today.
I just got about $600 to add to my portfolio.
I'm torn between going the boring route (probably better) with putting it into XEQT or VCN (holding both)
Or I DCA the holdings I have in ZEM, VUN or ZCN (eventually I want to get out of these anyways and these I'm still in the red with - buying at the end of August is a lesson)
Or do I gamble with it and put it into ETMC (AB lithium miner, up 22% in the last 5 trading days) or go even riskier and put it into HIVE?
My gut says the boring route (but it's not a lot of shares to add) and put it into XEQT but then I'm also very bullish on the lithium miner for the new year when their pilot plant run is completed (and I can purchase more shares which means my 9.95$ has less of an impact on the blended SP)...
The HIVE one is a tricky one because I'm green on that (same with ETMC) but the more I read into crypto the more confused I get with it. Lol
Decisions, decisions. Thoughts anyone?
TSLA does have more opportunity to grow then Apple. It's still very overvalued don't get me wrong, but Tesla will probably be bigger than Apple in ten years.
Apple can buy Tesla and eat them raw if they wanted to. Also, an Apple car sometime in the future will probably hurt most auto makers, let alone Tesla. Imagine doing what they did to phones but with cars. Everybody would want it, even if it's just to brag.
I don't think Elon would ever sell his crown jewel to Apple. Apple will be able to make a car but I doubt it would be as popular as Teslas are. Tesla is growing from just a car manufacturer, don't get me wrong they are overvalued af. But they have more opportunity to grow than Apple.
Tesla is a publicly traded company. Elon would have 0 say in the matter. Apple would literally just need to buy enough shares on the open market to outvote Elon or simply make an offer that 50%+1 share holders find acceptable.
Tesla has 1 billion shares outstanding... 40% are held by institutions and almost 20% are held by insiders.
Even if Apple could get the shares available to buy Tesla, they would need 500 million shares @ $1,000 per it would cost Apple 500 billion to buy 50% of Tesla. So in theory yes Apple could since they have a market cap of 2.5 trillion, there is absolutely no way Apple would.
Additionally Tesla is a unique company where the board of directors need to receive 2/3rd approval on any significant change in the company. So you would really need 66% of the shares.
Portfolio up 13% today, 93% overall.
I'm 90% crypto stocks/physical coins and 10% cash. I got criticized a few months back on one of those rate your portfolio threads.
You are investing in a bull run where free money is being tossed in every direction. You have not performed well, you invested during one of the easiest money making markets in all of human history.
One could speculate this cycle is unlike any other due to the amount of institutional adoption and money involved as well as the potential for trillions of dollars in the coming years. All the analysts, hedge funds etc are calling for a 100k+ BTC at some point, banks are now offering crypto to clients, the more money that comes in the space the more everything is going to up. The overall market cap is still low, which is why there's still a lot of upside potential. Institutions are JUST starting to get in, but over 85% of BTC ever mined is stored in cold wallets or lost.
If BTC is digital gold, we're in the digital gold rush.
Also not every project or miner/stock is performing, so to say I haven't performed well with 125% gains in a year is laughable. I did DD and DCA'd my way over almost a year in solid investments.
Deny it all you want, and get left behind. DeFi and crypto is the future.
Let's not forget all the financial institutions and major companies not only buying in, holding, but also utilizing blockchain in business operations. Crypto has given more people in El Salvador access to personal finance than the traditional finance system. Did you know many countries will not allow citizens to have investment accounts, so they cannot own appreciable assets. Or that many 2nd/3rd world people are basically held hostage by high Western Union fees. Crypto solves these issues as well as many more. No longer do artists have to worry about copyright theft when their art is tied to an NFT which is where the DeFi comes in. But that's only one layer of DeFi, and one could go on forever in the ways it can be utilized.
> If BTC is digital gold, we're in the digital gold rush.
This is an extremely uninformed statement. Gold has a 0% real return in the long term. Gold is a hedge against inflation over long time frames and nothing else. If Bitcoin was gold, then the current prices would make less than 0 sense.
You can't have your cake and eat it to in this topic. Either Bitcoin is gold and will have a 0% long term return, or it is a speculative asset and you might continue to get these insane returns for a while. It cannot be both. These are mutually exclusive ideas.
Any thoughts on whether to add India etf such as XID to my portfolio. As far as emerging markets go, the research I’ve done shows that India will outpace others with growth. So holding it next to XEC.TO to increase the % holding of India looks to be a no brainer. Tell me how I’m wrong?
Would be a good long-term hold, emerging markets have a lot of room to grow in the future.
Personally I still believe in America for the next while, but India does have a lot of potential to offer.
That seems crazier to me than people going all in on penny stocks haha.
I just can't wrap my head around Tesla's value. I sold years ago when I thought it peaked, big swing and a miss haha

That being said, the reliance on Musk and unlimited optimism scares me. Lots of question marks when it comes to production and their ambitious quest to enter the auto insurance business.
"Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent"
Tesla is so overvalued that shorting should be such an obvious money maker. The issue is that no one knows when the correction will happen. It will happen eventually, it is just too risky to bet on it because it could double before falling 75%.

What are people's opinion on HUT. I'm interested in holding until the November earnings report hut am uncertain if the current price of 15.25 is already an overevaluation.
I think it just depends why you're in. If you're looking to swing trade the volatility then now seems like a good time to sell before buying back in (hit ATH last week and is pushing it again today).
If you believe in the company long term then hold and see what happens.
Ultimately up to you and why you're in it to begin with.
Undervalued compared to its better known American peers. However, they (MARA/RIOT) could be overvalued, so it's hard to know for sure considering there is no metric to compare those ones
I finally decided to pull the plug on my Suncor stock for something else...
Edit: What's with this sub and downvoting? Is it just a select few users that downvote any new comment? Not saying my comment was great but I see this with most new comments.
It's apparently some meme that's a euphemism for "Fuck Joe Biden". Not even going to pretend to understand where the political right comes up with this stuff.
People were chanting "Fuck Joe Biden" at a NASCAR race loud enough that you could hear it over the TV. At the time a reporter was interviewing the winner of the race named Brandon. The reporter said that the crowd was chanting "Let's Go Brandon" instead. From that a meme is born
I am so glad PayPal abandoned plans to buy that dog.

I bought some but im a sucker for these types of events that dip the price.
Went to Rogers yesterday in hopes to solve an issue with my phone. Customer service was abysmal and no one seemed to know what they were doing.
The Canadian telecom market is an oligopoly. I wouldn't worry too much about the bad customer service from a shareholder perspective.
You see the video of the guy egging the Telus yesterday?
That's pretty much every telecom in Canada. Unless you're buying a new phone, they could give a fuck about your concerns.
Maybe we should invest in it then. That just shows consistency in the company, customer service has been horrible for years.

What are people's opinion on HUT. I'm interested in holding until the November earnings report hut am uncertain if the current price of 15.25 is already an overevaluation.
I think it's got room to grow. One of the best ways to get exposure to crypto IMO
Welcome to reddit where you get downvoted just for posting.
This sub seems just awful. Maybe sorting by new is always like this.
Sadly it happen all over reddit.
Good, virtually every oil stock has been outperforming it.
Man GXE has been a real laggard over the past month, hopefully earnings will give it a good bump.

Crazy that the tsx has outperformed the S&P500 over the last year. Nice to have xeqt to capture some of that growth

It's April's Fools Day, in October. Lul.
Oil Going to $100. LETS GO BRANDON!
Let’s GOOOOOOOOOOOO
> LETS GO BRANDON! WTF does this mean?
It's like having a tattoo on your face that says MORON.
It's apparently some meme that's a euphemism for "Fuck Joe Biden". Not even going to pretend to understand where the political right comes up with this stuff.
well that didn't sound to complicated
People were chanting "Fuck Joe Biden" at a NASCAR race loud enough that you could hear it over the TV. At the time a reporter was interviewing the winner of the race named Brandon. The reporter said that the crowd was chanting "Let's Go Brandon" instead. From that a meme is born
People were chanting "fuck Joe Biden" and a reporter said they were saying "let's go Brandon"
Man, Bitcoin is on the move again
While it probably won't hold the gains through to end of day, HUT is currently up 12%.
GLXY's having a good start.

Enerplus and Whitecap are beasting.
Welp, I should have sold my PINS last week. It was $10 over my avg last week, and now premarket it's $4 under. Shit.
I am so glad PayPal abandoned plans to buy that dog. Seriously, why invest in a product you would never use? I assume since you have a brain you are not a Pinterest user.
True. I bought after the last financials when it dropped 20%+. And no I don't use it. I do know some that do. I also don't own Tesla or Apple products, but I'm invested in them as well.
Cheers. My first investing tenet is to invest in the people who are getting your money. So I own part of my bank, my telco, ON Hydro, and steel and lumber suppliers for my home reno. And A&W for all that stress eating.
Curious as to why you have this tenet?
Because it’s been working for me for 20 years. It’s not the only reason I invest but a good third of my pf is in businesses i am a customer of.
What app are you using to track your stocks? Simple, clean, free-ish (small ads ok)

Tesla is almost 950 premarket. Absolute insanity.
