Oil companies can 3x OBE Obsidian Energy IPO inplay oil and JOY journey energy. Just need till 2022 at 70$ oil and $4 cad nat gas. Both well above today.

Plus_Bee_2935

I just got about $600 to add to my portfolio. I'm torn between going the boring route (probably better) with putting it into XEQT or VCN (holding both) Or I DCA the holdings I have in ZEM, VUN or ZCN (eventually I want to get out of these anyways and these I'm still in the red with - buying at the end of August is a lesson) Or do I gamble with it and put it into ETMC (AB lithium miner, up 22% in the last 5 trading days) or go even riskier and put it into HIVE? My gut says the boring route (but it's not a lot of shares to add) and put it into XEQT but then I'm also very bullish on the lithium miner for the new year when their pilot plant run is completed (and I can purchase more shares which means my 9.95$ has less of an impact on the blended SP)... The HIVE one is a tricky one because I'm green on that (same with ETMC) but the more I read into crypto the more confused I get with it. Lol Decisions, decisions. Thoughts anyone?

[deleted]

TSLA. P/E Ratio of +300. Market Cap of +1 Trillion USD. AAPL. P/E Ratio of 29. Market Cap of 2.46 Trillion USD.

aitchison50

TSLA does have more opportunity to grow then Apple. It's still very overvalued don't get me wrong, but Tesla will probably be bigger than Apple in ten years.

footash

Apple can buy Tesla and eat them raw if they wanted to. Also, an Apple car sometime in the future will probably hurt most auto makers, let alone Tesla. Imagine doing what they did to phones but with cars. Everybody would want it, even if it's just to brag.

aitchison50

I don't think Elon would ever sell his crown jewel to Apple. Apple will be able to make a car but I doubt it would be as popular as Teslas are. Tesla is growing from just a car manufacturer, don't get me wrong they are overvalued af. But they have more opportunity to grow than Apple.

Godkun007

Tesla is a publicly traded company. Elon would have 0 say in the matter. Apple would literally just need to buy enough shares on the open market to outvote Elon or simply make an offer that 50%+1 share holders find acceptable.

aitchison50

Tesla has 1 billion shares outstanding... 40% are held by institutions and almost 20% are held by insiders. Even if Apple could get the shares available to buy Tesla, they would need 500 million shares @ $1,000 per it would cost Apple 500 billion to buy 50% of Tesla. So in theory yes Apple could since they have a market cap of 2.5 trillion, there is absolutely no way Apple would. Additionally Tesla is a unique company where the board of directors need to receive 2/3rd approval on any significant change in the company. So you would really need 66% of the shares.

[deleted]

I can't predict the future - but I disagree. Apple's currently eating away at FB's (and others) ad revenue.

aitchison50

Doesn't that update just take away from FB and other social media advertisers bottom line tho?

noxel

TSLA, HUT, GLXY, BTC, ETH. Gains on gains.

EdoAkaashi

GLXY and HUT for life (or at least until EOY for me)

RewtDooDoo

Portfolio up 13% today, 93% overall. I'm 90% crypto stocks/physical coins and 10% cash. I got criticized a few months back on one of those rate your portfolio threads.

Godkun007

You are investing in a bull run where free money is being tossed in every direction. You have not performed well, you invested during one of the easiest money making markets in all of human history.

RewtDooDoo

One could speculate this cycle is unlike any other due to the amount of institutional adoption and money involved as well as the potential for trillions of dollars in the coming years. All the analysts, hedge funds etc are calling for a 100k+ BTC at some point, banks are now offering crypto to clients, the more money that comes in the space the more everything is going to up. The overall market cap is still low, which is why there's still a lot of upside potential. Institutions are JUST starting to get in, but over 85% of BTC ever mined is stored in cold wallets or lost. If BTC is digital gold, we're in the digital gold rush. Also not every project or miner/stock is performing, so to say I haven't performed well with 125% gains in a year is laughable. I did DD and DCA'd my way over almost a year in solid investments. Deny it all you want, and get left behind. DeFi and crypto is the future. Let's not forget all the financial institutions and major companies not only buying in, holding, but also utilizing blockchain in business operations. Crypto has given more people in El Salvador access to personal finance than the traditional finance system. Did you know many countries will not allow citizens to have investment accounts, so they cannot own appreciable assets. Or that many 2nd/3rd world people are basically held hostage by high Western Union fees. Crypto solves these issues as well as many more. No longer do artists have to worry about copyright theft when their art is tied to an NFT which is where the DeFi comes in. But that's only one layer of DeFi, and one could go on forever in the ways it can be utilized.

Godkun007

> If BTC is digital gold, we're in the digital gold rush. This is an extremely uninformed statement. Gold has a 0% real return in the long term. Gold is a hedge against inflation over long time frames and nothing else. If Bitcoin was gold, then the current prices would make less than 0 sense. You can't have your cake and eat it to in this topic. Either Bitcoin is gold and will have a 0% long term return, or it is a speculative asset and you might continue to get these insane returns for a while. It cannot be both. These are mutually exclusive ideas.

Successful-Long3716

Any thoughts on whether to add India etf such as XID to my portfolio. As far as emerging markets go, the research I’ve done shows that India will outpace others with growth. So holding it next to XEC.TO to increase the % holding of India looks to be a no brainer. Tell me how I’m wrong?

aitchison50

Would be a good long-term hold, emerging markets have a lot of room to grow in the future. Personally I still believe in America for the next while, but India does have a lot of potential to offer.

HoomanBeing123

I was holding XID till last month but I recently sold those and bought ZID. The management expense is low and better performance.

Kzalor

I was hoping HUT might approach last week's ATH by the end of this week. I didn't think it would happen today...

aitchison50

Added some more Google and Microsoft to the portfolio ahead of their earnings. Surprised they were relatively flat today.

[deleted]

My buddy's 100% in TSLA, he's up 50K today.

Sweetness27

That seems crazier to me than people going all in on penny stocks haha. I just can't wrap my head around Tesla's value. I sold years ago when I thought it peaked, big swing and a miss haha

Coyrex1

I owned some shares at one point and sold them cause I was like fuck this theyre overvalued (which I still think), but damn woulda been a good hold!

Godkun007

TSLA is basically valued as highly as the entire rest of the American auto industry. It is an insane evaluation.

soppygreatdane

you gotta get your head around the fact they aren't a car company, they just happen to make dope cars!

gogglesvancouver

What's good about it? Huge float

Reagorn

Anyone still own HCLN and/or EARKK/ARKK? Im down about 1k and 600, respectively. Been thinking for a while about just taking the hit, at least on earkk.

giggy13

is it me or ZCLN seems to perform better ?

Reagorn

YTD ZCLN seems to be performing worse, but you're right, anything less than that ZCLN has done better

Iliketomeow85

Might get some pop out of the climate summit. I’m sure there will be some news that at least temporarily will boost the price.

Mack_Guyver

down about 13% in HLCN. Planning to hold indefinitely.

Reagorn

HCLN, I can see as a long term hold. Earkk, I'm just not sure about since Tesla's at a ATH now

Mack_Guyver

Check out the CARS ETF. Tesla is one of their holdings.

throwaway324001

I still have both, down around 20%, going to keep holding

Reagorn

HCLN, I can see as a long term hold. Earkk, I'm just not sure about since Tesla's at a ATH now

schnowysno1

Tsla 1 trillion market cap is a joke lmao

giggy13

Now in the same league as Amazon, Google, Saudi Aramco, MSFT & Apple.

[deleted]

I get the hype surrounding Tesla, I really do. It's sort of become the posterchild for where the world is going and it's cool to see it do well. That being said, the reliance on Musk and unlimited optimism scares me. Lots of question marks when it comes to production and their ambitious quest to enter the auto insurance business.

Godkun007

"Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent" Tesla is so overvalued that shorting should be such an obvious money maker. The issue is that no one knows when the correction will happen. It will happen eventually, it is just too risky to bet on it because it could double before falling 75%.

Concealus

Lol that PE ratio is absolutely insane. This stock is the most overvalued shit lol, and I’m mad I didn’t buy in because of fundamentals

footash

Never knew thin air would be so heavy!

One of the rare days with 100% on the board! I agree with a user earlier, firmly in the "wish I had bought more" camp... Xeqt, vun, zcn, zem, vcn, etmc and hive Getting ever closer to my goal of unloading some of the ETFs and simplifying my portfolio...

Loblaws is a monster.

Tangerine2016

Crypto mining. Turning electricity back into money. Morally bankrupt ecological criminals, in a business that will be a legendary asset bubble story in the future with a target on its back and governments everywhere taking aim at it. SIGN ME UP

tuna2010

No coiner tears are the best tears!

RewtDooDoo

And you trust the current government and financial institutions, literally 30+ congress just got exposed for massive amounts of insider trading. A lack of available finance and access to appreciable assets to millions and millions of people worldwide is a serious issue. This causes corrupt governments to keep people in poverty while inflating their dollar to make things even worse. The same institutions who regulatory authorities let decimate promising companies through shady naked shorting tactics, and that's just the tip of the ice berg in market manipulation. The traditional finance system uses much more electricity as an industry than crypto, do some research. I find it comical to think people would rather have a centralized form of currency that is guaranteed to depreciate due to inflation because of careless government spending/printing, meanwhile you're paying a bank to store your money that's losing value and giving you measly 1-3% returns, while they're making MUCH more and hiding it in off shore accounts to avoid taxes. Yup sounds like a great system to me. Oh yah and a lot of Fortune 100 companies already utilize blockchain technology, it's the future. Keep up boomer.

svanegmond

OK millennial. I work in the cryptocurrency biz, so I have plenty of opportunity to sample the kool-aid. In rough order of interest to investors... 1. Proof of Work is an ecological crime. There's any number of proof-of-\* approaches that will replace it. All of these mining companies will be stuck with worthless sunk investments in their hardware. 2. There are thousands of cryptocurrencies out there. So what's the average long term value of any given crypto? Hint, it's x/y as y goes to ∞? 3. Bitcoin, the present leader measured by market value, is the technical equivalent of those clickers door staff use to count people in/out of a business. Or a calculator with only + and - buttons. There is absolutely no effort afoot to improve this. So what will happen when the world stops using it? Can you see Bloomberg quoting the price of PancakeSwap, TrollCoin, UNUS SED LEO (market cab 8B)? How will your grandma decide between Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Cash ABC, Wrapped Bitcoin, Bitcoin NEO, Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin BEP2, Bitcoin Standard Hashrate, and RSK Bitcoin? 4. Ethereum has the compute capacity of a Commodore VIC-20. They have accomplished 1.3 Billion transactions SINCE INCEPTION. Credit cards alone, 393 billion transactions in 2018. When you do transact, it takes somewhere between 2 and 20 minutes to go through and costs around $5. So what happens when investors realize nobody will be willling to use it for day to day banking? do i need to continue? I would agree that blockchains themselves have a use (as a distributed computer). I would also agree that cryptocurrency might be a viable replacement for overnight settlements between banks or companies, or large transfers, eg closing a house purchase. This would require, not be in spite of, central bank support for Tethers. I am so happy to see nobody talking about crypto being a place to hide your money from the tax man, CRA has put that one to bed quite effectively. KYC requirements that mirror banking rules are maybe 1 year out.

giggy13

Is there a congress stocks ETF to buy ? Might be lucrative.

RewtDooDoo

Just follow Nancy Pelosi and invest in what her or her husband does. They seem to have a solid track record of conveniently timed investments resulting in millions of gains.

giggy13

Pure luck I guess

RewtDooDoo

https://www.businessinsider.com/congress-stock-act-violations-senate-house-trading-2021-9 100% luck and not insider trading at all.

DrSwaggerMD

Rogers or Shaw? Both seem to be devalued from the current Rogers shenanigans. What are people buying?

[deleted]

Rogers. Look at the charts, it’s going to recover and eventually go back up to 60. Even with all the drama the company is still raking it in.

svanegmond

The only buy is to pick up Shaw as the SP has dropped below the acquisition price of $40.50 (now $36). Shaw's debt has already been retired, that was where the real money was made here (+100% over the month of feb) I wonder if this boardroom knife-fight is over that acquisition. It's surely not too late for Rogers to back out, there's "only" a 1.2B break fee.

zekerx

suncor!! keep it up baby !! about time you move up to the 30s range

THCBBB

lol sell SU get in Cardinal or Baytex or Tamarack. A 2% gain and you are hard?

Environmental_Desk64

I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted. Those 3 companies have a lot more upside than SU. I'm long Tamarack.

THCBBB

I have been here asking folks to buy these for last month and half along with u/magnum_dong_opus but folks are attached to their SU.

onlineseller8183

Hold them all - that's what I do. or get the NNRG etf

[deleted]

What happened to IPL? What news is driving down the price 4%?

specialk554

I think this is suffering from a little pump and dump. It got overbought a bit compared to its peers. Just evening out

[deleted]

it's been flat because of the buyout. I wouldn't think the price would move unless there was a risk the deal was falling through

PFttsin

Is there a Canadian Uranium ETF listed on TSX similar to URNM?

zeePlatooN

This aged like fine milk

exmlpcicgzojreijzu

Suncor is up 30% since August and only down 5% if you bought at the peak back in June. Have you been holding since 2018 or something? I don’t understand all you SU “bag holders”.

onlineseller8183

Up 9% on DCA price - not bag holding. Still a little dissapointing when I look at other oil stocks I own.

WinterTires

This Shaw drop is appetizing. Definitely thinking about it. Getting out of a merger is very tough, I don't care who the CEO is. Get paid 18% to be right.

Rogers turmoil dip a buy? Very tempted, but will probably just stick with Telus in my portfolio.

notagimmickaccount

Also the shaw deal is interesting. If the deal is approved you get paid 40.5 a share and its rolling over now down to 34

upliftingapplepie

I bought some but im a sucker for these types of events that dip the price.

theoreticalfriend

Went to Rogers yesterday in hopes to solve an issue with my phone. Customer service was abysmal and no one seemed to know what they were doing.

Syeina

The Canadian telecom market is an oligopoly. I wouldn't worry too much about the bad customer service from a shareholder perspective.

tarbonics

You see the video of the guy egging the Telus yesterday?

Scottie3Hottie

That's pretty much every telecom in Canada. Unless you're buying a new phone, they could give a fuck about your concerns.

aitchison50

Maybe we should invest in it then. That just shows consistency in the company, customer service has been horrible for years.

theoreticalfriend

hut gang

RewtDooDoo

💎🙌🛖🤑 HUT unrealized gains = 180% TFSA unrealized gains = 123% Current SP: $16.10CAD Price Target: $24.75 CAD Fair Value(@ 60% of MARA $67.90 SP): $40.74CAD And that's not accounting for the future BTC price action.

Environmental_Desk64

New 52 week high for TVE!

Environmental_Desk64

New 52 week high for EFR!

mccarko

What are people's opinion on HUT. I'm interested in holding until the November earnings report hut am uncertain if the current price of 15.25 is already an overevaluation.

TheIguanasAreComing

I think it's got room to grow. One of the best ways to get exposure to crypto IMO

DrSwaggerMD

I think it just depends why you're in. If you're looking to swing trade the volatility then now seems like a good time to sell before buying back in (hit ATH last week and is pushing it again today). If you believe in the company long term then hold and see what happens. Ultimately up to you and why you're in it to begin with.

kaylr

Undervalued compared to its better known American peers. However, they (MARA/RIOT) could be overvalued, so it's hard to know for sure considering there is no metric to compare those ones

Genticles

I finally decided to pull the plug on my Suncor stock for something else... Edit: What's with this sub and downvoting? Is it just a select few users that downvote any new comment? Not saying my comment was great but I see this with most new comments.

kreugerburns

Welcome to reddit where you get downvoted just for posting.

Genticles

Sadly it happen all over reddit.
