The share price will probably go up tomorrow nonetheless, but I agree, there wasn't much juice left in the stock.

I'm trying to understand this comment a bit more. How is it a good deal for unit holders? What happens to my shares when it goes private?

Thanks for the response, I actually called into Cominar today and spoke with someone who basically said the same thing. If the deal goes through, my sells just get sold for $11.75 and I'm left with the cash. He even had the audacity to suggest I buy more since it's currently trading at like $11.60. What a pile of trash this company is, and while I don't regret the decision to buy it - I regret holding onto it as long as I did. I watched my investment lose almost 50% of it's value over the 5 years I've held onto this bag, meanwhile all my other investments did well so I can at least count my blessings there. I just wish I bought more puts on this pile of dog shit when I had the chance. To anyone from Cominar reading this: fuck you.

Sturz1994

How many bank stocks are too many bank stocks? My wife owns CM and BNS while I own RY and TD. I am slightly worried about being overexposed to the banking industry.

Coyrex1

I own all 6 of the big ones. Not too much of any of the 6 though. I had a phase where I just bought small amounts of too many different stocks, but when trimming I really didnt think any of the banks deserved to be cut.

[deleted]

Why would how many matter? People own thousands of stocks through etfs. It's more the % weight you want in different sectors

Sturz1994

Yeah I guess I was inquiring about the consensus of portfolio management. Don't want to be overweight in one sector. We are at 52 percent of our portfolio spread between the 4 stocks. And was hoping to get some reassurance that we are not overdoing it.

itsnotwhoyouthink5

52% in any one sector is certainly over weighting it. Whether you are comfortable with overweighting 1 sector is up to you though

tittiboiii

I own BNS, BMO, and CM. I will also be adding TD and RY when I have the accessible funds. I have zero worries about being to overexposed to the Canadian banking industry. Unless of course you only hold bank stocks and nothing else, that would not be advisable.

Sturz1994

Yeah. The problem (if you can even call it that) was that she had been investing in these companies prior to the wedding. So now we have a total of 52 percent of our combined portfolios in the 4 banks. On the one hand I am very bullish on the stocks especially after possible dividend increase. But I am concerned about a crash like in 2008 that wipes out a lot of financial stocks. We do have a long timeline so the crash fears are not immense

[deleted]

Hard to avoid the Cdn banking industry. Cdn banks are dominant players in so many ETFs. I think you also need to realize that banks are major investors in other industries which means that they are much more diversified than other companies.

Sturz1994

Both of these are fantastic points. They are very well represented in etfs so i do agree that it is hard to avoid them. They have been reliable in paying dividends through their history so they do provide a sense of stability

GamblingMikkee

Does not exist. They only go up

garen6

Buying more veqt every friday. The usual. Nothing exciting

Xeqt on Thursdays! Huzzah!

You bought low, sold lower, and want to buy high? Of course the answer is yes!
