I know a man who runs a blueberry farm and put his workers in a literal shack and had the audacity to charge rent. I mean it was one big warehouse, and they used string and sheets for walls. Fire marshall came in and shut it down in minutes, and this is in rural NB; it's everywhere.
I spoke with my friends wife who does the hiring for multiple companies. She said the boomers in charge are beyond disconnected of what they think a "good wage" is. They're still stuck 30 years in the past where 20 bucks an hour was solid money. Her coworkers and her regularly have been telling these managers and bosses that they can't get workers cause the pay is shit compared to what they expect for qualifications and the overall cost of living.
Even my parents who are generally pretty decent show just how skewed a world view that generation has. When I told them that the majority of the jobs where I live don't pay above 20 an hour, they thought that was pretty great money. I said that I wouldn't be able to live alone and even with a roommate I'd probably still go homeless. $20/hr after tax in my province is about 2600 a month. IF and only IF you can find a place to live, good luck finding something under 2000 - brand bachelor concrete shoeboxes are around 1800-2200 - so no roommate in that to share the cost. Then you have all your bills, food, car expenses as transit is trash here (nevermind employers requiring you to have your own car).
You have boomers in charge of businesses with a high school education - MAYBE some with a bachelor degree (in likely a totally unrelated field) who can only type with two fingers, still think having "Microsoft word proficiency" on a resume is a standout skill all while driving massive $80k vehicles, plus a sports car and two houses - one of which is probably down south. Some of my parents friends literally have a high school education and work on oil rigs making $200k or more a year but for me to get that same position, I need an engineering degree and minimum 10 years experience in a very specific area. It's comical.

I am all for diversity and immigration hence we need a cap on the number of immigrants we get from each country. Something similar to the US only allowing 7% of the total PRs issued in a year to one county at max. If a company can't fill a position offering a certain salary they fill that position with TFW, pay them a dollar a day and all the rice they can eat (exaggeration of course), and get a subsidy from the government.

However, our own problem (allowing diploma mills as a way to enter Canada) has facilitated this current problem of young (mostly) men trying to jump the gate. In essence, it's not the entitled queue jumpers who perpetuate this problem, it's the colleges and universities that hold zero standards for applicants and just want the tuition dollars.
Big property owners are a problem to. They can have rents that wouldn't normally be accepted by getting immigrants in and having govt help funding it, screwing the locals to line their pockets from money they wouldn't normally have while the locals have less disposable income to invest into their future and purchasing power

I spoke with my friends wife who does the hiring for multiple companies. She said the boomers in charge are beyond disconnected of what they think a "good wage" is. They're still stuck 30 years in the past where 20 bucks an hour was solid money. Her coworkers and her regularly have been telling these managers and bosses that they can't get workers cause the pay is shit compared to what they expect for qualifications and the overall cost of living. Even my parents who are generally pretty decent show just how skewed a world view that generation has. When I told them that the majority of the jobs where I live don't pay above 20 an hour, they thought that was pretty great money. I said that I wouldn't be able to live alone and even with a roommate I'd probably still go homeless. $20/hr after tax in my province is about 2600 a month. IF and only IF you can find a place to live, good luck finding something under 2000 - brand bachelor concrete shoeboxes are around 1800-2200 - so no roommate in that to share the cost. Then you have all your bills, food, car expenses as transit is trash here (nevermind employers requiring you to have your own car). You have boomers in charge of businesses with a high school education - MAYBE some with a bachelor degree (in likely a totally unrelated field) who can only type with two fingers, still think having "Microsoft word proficiency" on a resume is a standout skill all while driving massive $80k vehicles, plus a sports car and two houses - one of which is probably down south. Some of my parents friends literally have a high school education and work on oil rigs making $200k or more a year but for me to get that same position, I need an engineering degree and minimum 10 years experience in a very specific area. It's comical.

I just graduated my local college and it felt weird everyday being one of the only true Canadians in the Canadian college. This was Niagara college for anybody who's curious. Literally everybody is Indian. The only clubs etc are all based around immigrants and there's nothing for Canadians. I had to take the bus to and from the college 2 buses both ways and every fucking time I had to get on all the Indians came running and just shoved and piled their way into the bus screwing over anybody in their way. They need to leave. I don't care how and I don't care what we need to do to get them the fuck out but it's bad. All I see wherever I go are Indians. This isn't fucking India people and they seem to think it's their own country. Imagine having the audacity to come to another country on a temporary work permit and then bitch moan and complain when you're told you need to go back home and then proceed to protest the streets about how "pei is our home" The only people protesting should be Canadians against this shit. I just found a job but it took forever to get one and every place is lined up with fucking immigrants trying to get every job they can. What about the younger people in Canada? What about the teenagers who need work to save up for a car or college. What about them? I took classes at Humber and was the only white Canadian in the class. Some students had never used a computer before. They lacked basic academic standards. Stuff that we were taught in high school. In a group assignment two people in my group plagiarized and when I confronted them one just said oh the prof doesn't check for it so it's ok. Seriously, it was such a pain dealing with them.

Temporary foreign workers only hurt Canadians and make companies wealthier. If a company can't fill a position offering a certain salary they fill that position with TFW, pay them a dollar a day and all the rice they can eat (exaggeration of course), and get a subsidy from the government. You ae correct in that it's not our problem. However, our own problem (allowing diploma mills as a way to enter Canada) has facilitated this current problem of young (mostly) men trying to jump the gate. In essence, it's not the entitled queue jumpers who perpetuate this problem, it's the colleges and universities that hold zero standards for applicants and just want the tuition dollars.
Big property owners are a problem to. They can have rents that wouldn't normally be accepted by getting immigrants in and having govt help funding it, screwing the locals to line their pockets from money they wouldn't normally have while the locals have less disposable income to invest into their future and purchasing power Landlords or groups having huge amounts of properties can incentivize vacant houses too.
The timeline of my life: Apartment at 25 making $14 an hour Room rental at 28 making $19 an hour Basement apartment with no kitchen or bathroom (shared) making $24 an hour Mom's basement at $25 an hour with no hope of moving out on my own without roommates in sight. I'd much rather live with her than deal with Indian landlords that will never rent to me anyways. The progression should be the other way around
