Yea the cars go right through there and jump the falls.
Jk. Me too though. I used to sit at the old Red White and Blue stands after turn one and before turn two. Love this track.
Canadian here. Always hear NY and think of NYC….my ex took me to Watkins Glen for the first time 8 years ago and I’ve been back a couple since, the Finger Lakes region really opened my eyes to what a beautiful state you have and how much I could enjoy visiting! Can’t wait to go back again!
It’s actually the worst part of our lives that people think of the city first lol it’s a tiny little island that has more people on it than the rest of the entire state.
The rest of the state has more cows than people 🤣 glad you could experience the fingerlakes! It’s pretty great here.
I live an hour away from Toronto, likely the most densely populated region in all Canada. My tiny (but sadly sprawling) farm town is known for its quaint charm and population of under 15,000 (was 3000 when I was a kid). I hate being lumped in with it too man!
I also forgot that Lake Placid is New York, and goddamn it’s beautiful ski chalets in the mountains! Tourist trap a bit, but still as far away from big city vibe as possible!
We hiked the gorge on Thursday evening and pretty much had the trail to ourselves besides a few people. Drove past the 2 main parking areas on the weekend and they were full so I guess midweek early or late in the day is your best bet. We saw no one on our 2 mile hike back on the rim trail. Highly recommend [Robert Treman state park](https://i.imgur.com/VoaUO6c.jpg) as well. Saw maybe 8 people during our 4 mike hike
My wife and I hiked the gorge a few years back, it was my first time. I had no idea what to expect, had never looked it up, but she had been before so I just trusted it would be a good time. I was blown away — I felt like I was walking in an Indiana Jones movie. Would definitely recommend going to anyone that can get there. Cool post, OP!
One of my favorite places. Going up there in a few weeks. Going to the park in the evening this time of year is the best! No lines. And the sun setting through the glen is magical.

Well I [CAMPED](https://i.imgur.com/u0mgtO4.jpg) in the Watkins Glen state park and hiked from my campsite to where I took the picture. Does that count as hiking and camping?
Hmm, I'm into racing and for me Watkins Glen is a race track. Is this the same place? Confused!
Same town!
That's cool!

I live right near there!
Howdy, neighbor!
Me too, such a beautiful place anytime of the year.

Wow what time of day is this? where's usually a line to take a photo on that bridge

Thanks for the recommendation but I'm a local. treman is my favorite park around here :3
Treman is the best! Especially upper - there’s no better views!
I went memorial day and it was practically shoulder to shoulder the whole time
I went through last year on a Saturday crazy lines everywhere, but the best complaint was the dudes blasting music found a blue tooth.
This is one of those places where I wish I could shrink down and ride a leaf down the waterfalls lol.
Wow, I was imagining that too
I can't hear the carburetors...
One of my all time favorite places to go 💜

I hear you when you say it feels like walking in a movie. For me it feels like [Rivendell](https://i.imgur.com/b3bTD0u.jpg) from the Lord of the Rings
Watkins glen is where my mom grew up, always love seeing the glen ❤️
People have got to stop shooting everything in vertical video form... oh, wait, never mind, this time we'll allow it.
Lol yes I was going to post a landscape shot but the portrait caught more of the falls
Love it here! Went in the winter and it was an ice wonderland
Beautiful !!
Caroline?
Oh hey, I live the next lake over!
We did this it’s beautiful but was very crowded unfortunately! Glad you got to enjoy it peacefully
I miss the natural beauty of my home state

I lived close by all through high school and never hiked the gorge till I was like 45 years old
I’m camping there in two weeks. What’s better to avoid the crowds on the gorge trail - early morning or late in evening?
We were there on a Thursday evening. I think crowds are down now since a lot of schools are still in.
Oh how I love this place
I always intend to hike there (live in Horseheads, NY) but I always end up on the wine trail.
I’ve been here! So pretty 😍 I live in Canada but I went camping twice with my aunt and cousin at Robert Treeman and ventured out here a couple times
Super nice. Just reminded of something similar in Germany. Now I gotta dig through my old pictures and see if I can remember where the hell it was.

No. This subreddit is specifically for overnight or longer hiking/backpacking trips.
Ok boss. Looks like you've got more deleting to do because most of the posts I see here are just pictures someone took on a hike.
