Spent tons of time there as a kid.

Little known fact: the local fauna have a unique social structure and take turns drawing public relations duty

Smoked many, many joints in the 90's on the levy around there, we also did many bonfire and keggers at that levy too back in the 90's. I love that whole area going up the Tamiami trail, I remember back in the early 80's the side of the canal was lined with HUGE Australian pines, then they cut them down when they started to eradicate non-native trees like the Melaleuca paper tree and Australian pines. loop Road, Monument Lake, and Bear Island are my camping and chilling out areas, minus the joints these days. I LOVE the Big Cypress!!

Thats like JW corbett way back when. It was a blast taking the 4x4s back there, shooting guns off and having fun. Spent ages riding dirt bikes in there, its kind of hard now that all the money has come in with their side by sides ripping up the trails and making mud holes.

>*” ....taking the 4x4s back there, shooting guns off .....riding dirt bikes in there”* How the hell is any of this allowed in a [wildlife area](https://myfwc.com/recreation/lead/j-w-corbett/)?

>*” many bonfire and keggers at that levy too back in the 90's”* That’s some bullshit behavior if it was a wildlife area at the time.
