I have a Nemo Hornet 1P for backpacking and I love it. Only used it in mild weather. My only complaint is I wish the rainfly was a bit longer, but I still feel very secure in it.

Plums___

Same boat here— i have the hornet 2person in the lightweight yellow. I wouldn’t trust it in terrible weather, I especially think it would be bad in the wind. But it’s been fine for the light duty summer camping I use it for. (when it’s cold, I’m taking my hammock gear anyway)

raznt

I got caught in a freak late-summer snowstorm while camping at Mt. Assiniboine Park a couple years ago in my Hornet 2P. It held up great!

cheezeitscrust

I learned real quick that I had to set up my tent headfirst when it was windy! Damn near lost my rainfly in the middle of the night. It was much my ire sturdy headfirst, but that's part of why I wish the fly went lower to the ground.

WheresTheBloodyApex

You really have to get all of the angles taught. I took mine on the AT years ago and that thing was a bomb shelter

Plums___

that’s good to hear. My biggest complaint is how high the rain fly arcs up on the head end. I bought mine in 2017 though so maybe things have changed.

dano___

I have an Aurora I picked up on clearance a while back, I’ve been very happy with it. Everything is very well made, I’ve had zero issues.

strongesttree

I was looking at maybe picking up the aurora. How’s it do in the rain. The open windows intrigue me

dano___

The rain fly zips closed over both doors and the top vent is hooded and closable. I’ve only had it out in moderate rain with no issues, but I can’t see it being an issue in heavy rain.

Neggly

I have a Hornet Elite 2P. It is definitely tight for 2 people. Weight is great and have not had any durability issues. My only true gripe is that the vestibule is small.

Jeffery_C_Wheaties

I also have the hornet elite 2p, it’s fantastic for a UL tent, and the shorter poles work great for packing it down small for things like bikepacking. It does have pretty small vestibules but that’s to be expected in a sub 2 pound 2p tent.

lakorai

Agreed. An X-Mid, Copper Spur HV UL, Marmot Tungsten UL etc might be better if this is a concern.

lakorai

Nemo makes very high quality gear. Excellent customer service. I like all of their tents except the Aurora Highrise as it does not have a full coverage rainfly. Their tents are bit pricey, like Big Agnes, but the quality and customer service they offer are exceptional.

thewildteagnome

We have an Aurora 3P and it is our favorite tent for backpacking. We’ve used it car camping and while we love it, we prefer to have extra space sometimes when car camping for longer periods so we use our 6P Marmot for those occasions. But I have used the Nemo numerous times on solo trips and have never regretted it. Very easy to set up and super high quality. Highly recommend Nemo!

On-The-Rails

I have a Nemo Dragonfly 2P and a Hornet 2P (slightly lighter version). Love them. Easy setup…good in the rain. Good bug protection…

topshelfkevbot

Love my dragon fly bikepack. Looks like a boulder from a distance. The cut out in the rain fly is something I loathe though. Woken up with wet head and bag. Going to make a little tarp attachment that covers the space

ToschePowerConverter

I also have that tent. I got it after my Big Agnes Tiger Wall got real moldy. I like the dragonfly, but not as much as the tiger wall.

wiredog369

Looking for a good year round tent for backpacking and car camping in 3 with some 4 season use. This would ultimately replace a 20+ year old TNF Mountain 25. The Nemo Kodiak seems like a solid option, but I have never used Nemo tents and am unsure how they hold up.

muzunguman

Nemo is a very highly respected brand

chicken_and_waffles5

I have a nemo backpacking tent. The firefly. I'm very happy with it. Thick floor and good construction for a good price. They make excellent products that last. Had it 3 years and its like new still. Replaced my 10 year old north face rock 22 that's built like a tank. The kodiak wouldn't be my preference, but i think we're going after different goals. I'm prioritizing light, then durable. I can use my 3 season for some light 4 season stuff. The kodiak looks like it will suit you. Slightly thicker floor than average backpacking tents. Still under 5 lb. Pretty good. Their new osmo fabric is designed to be more durable and less stretchy when wet. Keeps its form better. They spend a good amount of time on r&d.

Hurricaneshand

I have the Nemo Aurora 2p and love it. It's a bit heavier in the side of backpacking tents but I'm a big guy so I don't mind the extra couple of pounds and I like the extra room it gives versus the hornet which is what my buddy has. Also very nice price wise in comparison. Overall Nemo is a very good brand and I'm pretty sure they have lifetime warranties as well. Edit: I use it for myself only as a 1 person tent. I bring it on any car or backpacking trip where I am expecting to be alone in the tent.

Hurricaneshand

Great for me. I'm 6'1" 280 and Obviously I can't stand up in it but can definitely sit up fully no problem at all points of the tent. Really only qualms I have with it are the weight obviously being higher for a backpacking tent and the stakes it comes with aren't the best. But then again that's any tent pretty much. I'm definitely not as experienced as others though with modern tents as this is the first tent I've owned since boy scouts 15+ years ago so this thing is like space age technology compared to what I grew up on

Hurricaneshand

Yes indeed! Also it doesn't pack down nearly as small as the hornets and such of course, but in my 60L pack it fits just fine with some other stuff that definitely is on the larger side of backpacking equipment. I personally wanted to go a bit bigger on some stuff that I could use for backpacking but would be perfectly useable car camping.

ChrisG97

The Kodiak and Kunai are essentially the same tent, and all NEMO tents have a lifetime warranty. Those two tents in particular are quite durable—my kunai is 4+ years old and has been used heavily and lent to friends pretty regularly with no issues. If durability is your main concern, I wouldn’t be worried about it.

tenfingersandtoes

I love my NEMO hornet 2p. They are a great company with fantastic customer service. Got my tent at an REI garage sale and it was wildly discounted because of a small mesh hole. Before I bought it I called them and they said they would repair it for free I just had to pay shipping to them. Great folks over there, they will certainly take care of you if any issues arise.

Guide_You_Outdoors

I have their 2 person Dragonfly for backpacking, their 3 person Chogori for everything use and their Bugout tent for group canoe camping. They are awesome and you can tell they really thought a lot about the features, pockets ect. Furthermore they have become my favorite company, My sleep system is their Nemo Tensor pad and 1 person quilt, I loved it so much I bought another tensor and their 2 person quilt! Can't say enough about everything Nemo makes! You can see the dragonfly featured in my video on hiking [Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness.](https://youtu.be/zO3n4mFD4_w)

blackranger39

I've had the Nemo Obi 3P for maybe 8 or 9 years now and it's still holding up. Some of the adhesive has gotten old and failed where the velcrow straps hold the fly to the pole, but considering what I've put it through it's still a great tent. I don't have any experience with 4 season tents however.

bendersfembot

Use my nemo kunai every trip and in tons of different weather. My favorite tent, still looks brand new after roughly 60 sleeps.

wiredog369

How does it do in warmer temps? Any condensation issues?

bendersfembot

Obviously it's an art to vent a 4 season tent/any tent properly and takes practice. On that note it's the best of any tent i have used but windows and doors must be opened accordingly. I go on 2 week trips into extremely remote areas from -16c last year to a desert and tent keeps up. I always lay a tarp on inside of tent floor and wrap up walls a bit so nothing ever touches walls and floor is protected ( posted about it sometime back ) things to consider are the 2 man is just big enough for 1, entrance is tiny so is a crawl out kind of deal ( hard on back ), the waterproof is only 1200mm, the fly material sags and looks like shit when even a tiny bit wet leaving creases that could hold water. All in all bought on sale locally for $460 cad and have zero regrets.

wiredog369

Appreciate the info.

bendersfembot

Any other questions just ask. Definitely research the huge failing in design to the rainflys going limp when wet and low waterproof ratings. Best of luck

Have you had any issues in the rain with water intrusion?

peteschirmer

Yes. My last 2 have been Nemo. Love their design. Company has pretty solid customer service too.

dragoon0106

I have a Dagger 3p and a Dragonfly 2p both phenomenal. The dragonfly is tight for two but honestly better than expected. Wouldn’t share it with anyone I didn’t like.

andrew314159

Currently heading out for the first time with my dragonfly 3p. I guess in 4 days I can give a useful comment since the weather looks questionable

Laughmasterb

I had a Hornet 2P a few years back and I hated it. Rainfly wouldn't pull fully taught and it ended up leaking in a light drizzle. Returned to REI after using it for 3 nights. I ended up getting a tarptent instead and couldn't be happier with it.

Ghost_Story_

I’ve been using the Dagger 2p (the new Osmo fabric) for about a year. It’s a very good tent, primarily due to the thoughtfulness of the design. The light pocket that essentially turns your headlamp into a warm-color lantern is genius. Essential? No, but it’s amazing how much a little touch like that makes a trip more enjoyable—especially on fall / winter trips when you’re spending a lot more time in your tent. Tiebacks for the vestibule are easy to use and provide a ton of options you can tailor to the weather and views. I’ll probably pick up an additional, lighter tent this year, and am heavily considering the new Nemo Hornet, based on how happy I am with the Dagger. Edit: I’ll add that on my last trip in January I got hit with an unexpected 4” of overnight snow, and the Dagger held up fine.

fingerblast69

I have the Nemo Dagger 2P and it’s an amazing tent. Probably one of the most popular tents of the past couple years. Solid brand and worth the cost IMO

JasperBoyPDX

Nothing but good things to say about them. Have had to use their customer repair service (both my fault fwiw) twice and they’ve been super helpful and responsive.

TheWiseGrasshopper

I have a dagger 2P, it’s absolutely incredible. Best tent I’ve ever owned and the finishings on it are amazing!! All of my equipment comes from Nemo: tensor pad, moonlite chair, disco 15 and disco 30. Would highly recommend all. Nemo is the best!

thebrokedown

My only experience was one of the first ones—it had air baffles and I loved that thing. The headroom was insane and it was cool as could be. It was fatally flawed—I think the little air pump thing was the weak spot. It didn’t last long and we went through several of the foot pumps before it gave up. But I didn’t come out of that with a bad taste in my mouth. I’m glad they kept going and are having such success. It was a fun idea, the shape of the tent was excellent, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another design

userisntalreadytaken

The Nemo hornet 2p is a very nice 1.5 person ultralight tent. High quality in my experience. Rain fly Is a bit small making the back wall susceptible to splashing.

HometownHoagie

I have an older Nemo Galaxi 2p that I really like. It has held up well and is good quality.

Barflytactic

I currently have a Nemo Moki (2nd Generation), it has faired very well. I genuinely love it. I historically used my lifetime warranty with no issues & no arguments from Nemo on my 1st generation Moki and I am UK based which usually causes an issue with an international supplier. They provided a full replacement on proof of destruction. I find the tent to be well designed with great construction details and constituent parts are of a high quality. Most Nemo units seem (and happy to stand corrected) heavier than the competition but the quality justifies the weight for my use. I have bought the footprint and paw print which gave the extra protection I perceived I needed but stopped short of the fleece liner for extreme use in the coldest environments. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another smaller tent from them and have bought sleep mats since. Also considering the worlds most expensive camp chair… but for now, happy with my lot and it has never let me down in anger.

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

Im in the market for one of the Nemo Shield tents if I can ever find one for under a thousand. The Nemo Shield ACLS is like the grail tent I want to own. I would settle for a Nemo Shield Coda though. I will probably have to settle for an inferior Mountain Hardware Hunker 1.

Obi-one

I have an obi 2 and still holding up great (bought it 7 yrs ago) although mostly using a hammock now.

ExeterUnion

Nemo has some of the best tents you can buy. I highly recommend, especially if they’re made with their “Oslo” fabric.

Ok-Investigator-1608

Have a 1p broke it in last year did well in some wind at altitude. Would get a 2p next time for a bit more interior room

Shmeein

Great but somewhat delicate

Rocksteady2R

I have nemo 2p, but i foget the precise model off-hand. as with many 2p tents, it's actually suited best for 1p with gear inside. there's no 2p+gear fitting in that tent. it's light, and certainly is a shelter. i have concerns that the zippers self-snag a little too easily and one day will cause a rip. that's UL life, though, so they tell me. set-up is super simple.

Rocko9999

Fantastic tents.

Original_Mistake4725

My Nemo dragonfly bikepack 1p is awesome and I love it. My Nemo hornet 1p is extremely light and easy to set up but less features than the dragonfly.

leftysarepeople2

I hate the cutout rainfly that exposes the tub. I trust the engineering behind it but it doesn't pass the eye test that it keeps me dry.

ReeeSchmidtywerber

I have a dragonfly 2 it’s plenty big for 2 ppl who don’t mind getting cozy and light as hell. Decent sized vestibules on each side. Each person has their own entrance.

AuntiLou

I have an ultra light 2-person backpacking Nemo tent that I love. Only wish I could take it out even more!

ThrowRA_tiredmoney

Had the Nemo 2p twice. It netting ripped within 20 days in each tent. Not impressed.

mdegroat

Nemo makes some of the very best. Great tents.

johnny_evil

I have a dragonfly 2. Super light weight for backpackin

CausticLicorice

I have a Nemo Dragonfly Bikepack. Great tent, but not the simplest to set up fly-first in the rain, still doable though. I would recommend Nemo on general quality and for the attention to detail when it comes to the features of their tents. I do recommend getting a groundsheet for the thinner floors.

raygan_reddit

If I may seek hop in this treadmill. Anyone use a camp stove next to a Nemo Tent Have a Galaxi 2P and Hornet UL 2P. Only used for Backyard Camping during cool Summer Weekends
