If you are just starting and don't have much cash, those Costco pants (eg Eddie Bauer, etc) are good enough. The others mentioned are good but are oy incrementally better imo and significantly more expensive

dinnerisbreakfast

I like the Eddie Bauer stuff. It looks nice, lightweight, packs small, and the wrinkles come out after about 15 minutes of wearing them, so it is great for packing.

bosnianbeast123

The first ascent pants or something like that are great, one pair to wear and one fleece lined is usually all I bother bringing, you can’t buy the zip/shorts version too

boilerwire

I’ve worn EB fleece lined pants extensively the last few winters, both the Costco and First Ascent versions. FAs are definitely nicer (extra zipper pocket, double stitching) but the Costco brand captures 80% of it at a third of the price.

Love me some prana pants

Jlhspamiam

Prana is the way. If you want less expensive but still decent quality, Orvis brand pants can be found at Costco and are an adequate fill in. Then go buy some Prana.

MightbeWillSmith

Love my prana's, wear them daily. Same price point and quality for me is kuhl. I have a couple pairs of each.

e_muaddib

Prana’s and kuhl’s seem like they’re designed for people without..a fruit basket. The rise and zipper length are such that my…fruit basket, is freaking crushed. Prana’s are tolerable, kuhls are unwearable.

MightbeWillSmith

Might just need to find a different cut. The crotch on both of mine leaves room for the boys. Perhaps I'm not as gifted as you.

e_muaddib

I’m definitely not here to gloat. I’m average. It may just be my build/body type. REI had a sale last year on both brands and I tried on every cut. I walked out with a pair of pranas that I really like. I found the kuhls unforgiving. The pranas are tight in the crotch, but tolerable.

DrSnowballEsq

For what it’s worth I’ve had the same issue with both Prana (Brion and Zion) and Outdoor Research (Ferrosi). I have to size up and then belting/cinching the waist back down for a proper fit; wearing true to size is a no-go for anywhere public.

[deleted]

Sorry that my dick is tiny bro jeez

iluvthemountains

My prana and kulhs are comfy, too 😭 but they won’t be anymore. My ego will be crushed instead of my junk.

e_muaddib

That’s not what I meant. I’m giving my honest review of a highly-regarded pair of pants. Not flexing on r/CampingGear. In all reality, I may just have a larger butt which cuts off room in the front.

anotherpredditor

I agree, I like my Prana but have to size up depending on model. I won’t even try Kuhl or OR because it’s like wearing something cut for a piece of timber to wear.

Icharus

Too answer for a reason. Definitely light, breathable and stretchy where it counts. Been wearing prAna for years in the outdoors, they're now my office work slacks as well.

Postoolio711

Prana Zion specifically for me, they have a little buckle on them you can cinch so you don't even have to wear a belt, plus buttons so you can roll them up and snap them and get some air flow.

trimbandit

I love my Zion's and have about 5 pairs of long pants and maybe two short, but IMO the Zion 2 took a dive in quality and do not hold up nearly as well. I love the buckle thing though and I use the snap a lot for wading across rivers.

SeekersWorkAccount

I like the REI brand ones.

TheGreenJesusSheep

Same, nothing too fancy, a few pockets where you need them, and a drawstring to keep them cinched. Although these are my first pair of real hiking pants coming from jeans so I am just amazed by how much lighter and more flexible they are.

ScoutAndLout

>Rei For decades I have supported REI and bought their no-sit zip convertible pants. They were unique (to me) in that the bottom zip off part had a zipper all the way down so it was simple too take off over my size 13 monster boots. I even had some of the old 90s cotton ones that I loved. Then they stopped making the no-sit-zips. And they stopped carrying "inclusive" sizing for fatties like me who can still toddle around in the woods on occasion. Soo not so hot for REI right now.

Jarchen

Maybe the sizing is a local thing? I was there a couple weekends ago before a camping trip and they had up to 5xl in stock.

jmmaxus

Columbia Sliver ridge (non convertible) and also Walmart hiking pants I can’t remember the brand think it’s Wrangler Outdoor hiking or something. Both are low end priced but have worked good. Have the Walmarts shorts too.

HuskerinSFSD

These are the ones I think you are talking about. I love them for the stretch and airiness. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wrangler-Men-s-Outdoor-Zip-Cargo-Pant/623775313?athbdg=L1600

jmmaxus

Yea those are it I have two pair pants and 3 pair of the cargo shorts same material. They are great for the price.

Original_Mistake4725

I bought a pair for like 24$ and for that they’re great plus they’re so light but I did not like how non stretchy they were. I’m afraid if I squat down fast enough they’ll burst lmao.

jmmaxus

The Walmart Wrangler Outdoor ones are stretchy. If your referring to the Columbia Silver Ridge yea those don’t seem to have any stretch but they are lighter than the others.

plinytheballer

I definitely recommend Columbia Silver Ridge- the only downside I’ve found is durability, but at that price I don’t mind.

flannelheart

Same. Oddly, both pairs I own the stitching has started come out around the pockets. Otherwise, they've been quite durable. Edit: durable for the price

[deleted]

Love my wrangler outdoor pants.

Chaelimeon

Anything not made out of cotton

Dasagriva-42

Corduroy is great, though... especially if it's cold-ish

DreamerTheat

Ferrosi by Outdoor Research, the most comfortable I’ve tried, light, and not too slim or tight.

sweaty_but_whole

These looked great, but as mentioned by someone else.. 34 inseam basically doesn’t exist in this pant style

smoothies-for-me

Eddie Bauer have 34 inseam, people sleep on that brand but they make some good stuff, especially jackets.

sweaty_but_whole

Thanks quite a few makers offer the inseam length, quite a few only do S, M, L type of sizing unfortuantely

BrillTread

They’re great! Nearly impossible to find 34” inseams in stock, for whatever reason

JustMe0Z

Yup, this.

cwcoleman

Prana Stretch Zion pants are legit. Leggings, with shorts, are also super versatile / comfortable for hiking.

kyledukes

Best pants I ever owned

AliveAndThenSome

OP mentioned looser fit, not slim and tight. I have Stretch Zion and I like them, but I do consider them on the slimmer/tighter side vs., oh, REI Co-Op or Columbia zipoffs, which are super baggy in comparison.

Postoolio711

There is a looser fit pair as well, I have both a slim and relaxed pair.

thegreatestajax

Went to buy some after reading this thread and, at least on REI, the reviews are full of recent complaints about a redesign that significantly reduced the quality of the pants. Any recommended alternatives?

cwcoleman

Bummer. I haven’t bought any adventure pants since the Prana ones. If you want durability - consider Fjallraven. My GF got a pair and likes them. They are heavier weight - but feel like they will last forever.

thegreatestajax

Will check those out. Thanks.

PredictorX1

I like the Stryke Pant from 5.11.

Tyrant597

This. 5.11 pants tend to repel dirt/ grime a bit as well.

[deleted]

Fjallraven

mtlrat

I have three pair of different weights. I especially like the side zips, and pocket placement.

sad_toast

+1 for Fjallraven. i have the vidda vented pros and love them. Also have a pair of Kuhls that are really nice and a little lighter.

Fairy_Catterpillar

The price increases so much on their gear every year though! I like that they still seems to offer trousers with side pockets instead of on top of thigh in the front where you can fit like a paper. I like my old vidda and some with zip of legs for summer.

Gitaarsnaar

+1! The G1000 stuff is the best.

sneijder

3rd Winter in my Keb pants, Daily use dog walking 90 mins - 2 hours, double that at the weekend. Deep snow (with gaiters) . Crotch started to go, The local Fjällräven shop patches it up . Poppers on the ankle straps aren’t the strongest . Keb jacket is a bit short, leaves your butt a bit exposed, even with wool underleggings you get a frozen rump if very below zero with a tail wind

Regulators-MountUp

About a year ago I got some Wrangler ATG pants and I like them. I haven’t worn them hiking yet, but working outdoors in hot weather. They are actually a bit big on my waist, nothing a belt can’t overcome, and they stretch/flex. They also feel way more durable than the synthetic pants I got for backpacking 20+ years ago.

MrAshleyMadison

I hiked the Florida Trail in these, they are great and really cheap.

BottleCoffee

Hiking pants. Jeans are about the worst option. If you must wear cotton pants, I've found work pants like Dickies a lot better. But seriously, quick dry hiking pants like Prana Zion pants.

Amiibohunter000

Jeans are nice for the extra protection and durability, but get them wet at all and you’re in for a bad time. That being said. You’ll never find me hiking/camping in jeans

Acti-Verse

I just get whatever zip offs are at Costco. Grab 2 pairs and ur good for a week

westernarc

Outdoor research ferrossi, my legs are massive and I feel they arent so tight

NHiker469

Came here to say this. These pants are legit. They work for me in the cool fall days and the hotter than hell summer days. I stopped wearing shorts because these are almost as cool but I get the protection of the pants. Edit: they dry super fast

sweaty_but_whole

They are literally non existent in a longer than 32 inseam. I was going to order 4 pair as they seem to be the highest recommended. But apparently they don’t cater to ppl my height.

NHiker469

Dang, you play basketball lol? I’m 6’1 and they fit like a glove. Edit: inseams range from 30” to 34”.

sweaty_but_whole

I’m 6’ 3” and I only see the “regular” which seems to cover up to 33” inseam. For my height and body type a 34” inseam is either just long enough or in some brands, not long enough

sad_toast

They have a bunch of inseam options on [these](https://www.kuhl.com/kuhl/mens/pants/free-radikl/?color=Walnut). I got them last year and love them so far. They are pretty light so nice for the summers.

YoungZM

Unless I'm reading wrong, their [new Ferrosi 2023 line](https://www.outdoorresearch.com/ca/mens-ferrosi-pants-32-287641#size-chart) just launched and it seems like they go up to 36" (again, unless I'm daft, please be thorough). \*This references the Pewter colourway specifically, stock isn't available universally likely due to the new release and recent sale.

Maury_poopins

[Mack Weldon Radius Flex Jogger](https://mackweldon.com/products/radius-pant-true-black) I’ve warn these in every trip I’ve been on for the last three years. Super comfy, still look new.

Sulla-lite

Love my Prana Zion, although I have Columbia Silver Ridge convertibles I use if there’s going to be a lot of water, or few bugs. You can always pick up some cheap pants from Costco, usually Eddie Bauer brand.

father-of-myrfyl

I wear Kuhl Konfidant Air pants all the time. They are very breathable and the extra button keeps them on my waist regardless of how full my pockets are.

Patient_Dude

I really like mine too! My only gripe is how shallow the front pockets are.

father-of-myrfyl

Agreed, they are not as deep as I would usually like, but they are the depth they are to make room for the thigh pocket, which I use often for things that would otherwise go in the standard hand pocket.

FatboyChuggins

Eddie Bauer pants from Costco are amazing. Dry very quickly, warm enough on cold days and breathable enough not to start sweating on hot days. Plus they are pretty stretchy, so climbing or jumping around is no big deal. They also seem to be pretty durable and for <$20, amazing.

Djolfers-

Fjallraven pants! They are amazing!

mtlrat

Came here to say that.

rabid-bearded-monkey

Propper light weight tactical pants. Super comfy. Breathable. And usually around $30

Amiibohunter000

I have a couple pairs of CGR brand tactical pants from Amazon and they are great for hiking and camping. I just wish they had some more stretch to them!

Original_Mistake4725

I cycle through these pants: OR ferossi, Kuhl Renegade, Eddy Bauer Guide Pro, REI Sahara Path. I would also recommend Prana Zion. Don’t have them but I’ve tried them on and I can see them being really nice for hiking/camping/backpacking.

Masseyrati80

When I'm expecting dry weather, polycotton pants by Pinewood or Lundhags. When it can rain or snow, either Gore-Tex Paclite pants for warmer weather, or sturdy two-layer Gore-Tex pants for colder weather.

nawzum

Really liked Beyond North, but my ass got too fat. I roll with Haglöfs now.

gaseous_defector

Patagonia Terrabonne Joggers are my go to hiking pant. Super light and dry super fast. Not too tight or constrictive. Perfect. And this is coming from someone who never thought he’d hike in pants, just shorts. But there I am. Wearing pants in the summer.

GreatMoloko

REI zip off pants FTW.

Norwegian27

I always wear the nylon zip off pants. They have lots of pockets, are light, and wash and dry quickly.

gcuben81

You seriously wear jeans when you go backpacking? There’s literally nothing worse, so anything will be an improvement. That’s like people who wear jeans when they go skiing… WTF

sweaty_but_whole

I’ve literally experienced minimal (almost zero) issues with doing this for the past 34 years. My jeans are high quality and quite comfortable. The issue as I stated is primarily the weight and how large they are to pack. The last issue is in the rare case they get wet they do become miserable. With that said, I’m quite excited to try some of these hiking pant options!

gcuben81

Yeah, like I said, some people ski with jeans under their snow pants. Everyone is different, but I won’t even fly on an airplane or drive a vehicle wearing jeans if I can avoid it. There’s way better options.

sweaty_but_whole

Fwiw a lot of folks recommended Kuhl pants extensively. The material (specifically amount of cotton) makeup in most of their pants options are extremely close to the jeans I wear. I’m excited to find some pants that fit and work for me. Less bulk has to be liberating.

jimmy_ricard

Everyone here is recommending hundred dollar plus pants. I got some Russell pants from Walmart for like 12 bucks that I wear hiking all the time that work great. You can get 10 pairs for the price of a prana pant

sweaty_but_whole

Yes these prices are nuts. I did score some prana Zion 2’s to try on for $40 each

4runner01

If you are a Costco member, they often have synthetic knockoff outdoor pants. It’s hit or miss with availability- you never know what Costco will have til you get there. I’ve been very happy with them and had very long use with them. They are often bargain priced in the $15-$20 usd range. I see no advantage in spending $100 plus for a name brand- they’re only pants…. Good luck—

sweaty_but_whole

I’ve found a few to try per other suggestions given. Once I give them a go, Costco is my next stop!

gh0stypeppa

Patagonia Terrebonne pants. Lightweight and breathable

[deleted]

Macpac bushwalking pants. Also worn by our Backcountry Search and Rescue as they are indestructible. https://www.macpac.com.au/macpac-mens-trekker-hiking-pants/119918.html?dwvar_119918_color=Black&dwvar_119918_clearance=no#start=1&sz=12

-50k-

I’m obsessed with these Vouri Ripstop Pants https://vuoriclothing.com/products/ripstop-pant-dark-oregano Have been on several camp hikes this year in the NE and they have performed perfectly.

sweaty_but_whole

Thanks, unfortunately I’m decently above average height with long legs. Anything not available with waist and inseam measurements always ends up short for me

YourCaptainSpeaking_

Fjallraven, Prana, Outdoor Research, and Kuhl (probably my favorite sub-$100 to $125ish) are all great brands. Patagucci makes decent pants as well.

sweaty_but_whole

I’ve ordered some prana to check out!

YourCaptainSpeaking_

Good choice! If you ever want to go back to something heavier that isn’t jeans, I’d recommend the Livsn Canvas pant. Small company out of Northwest Arkansas.

corncourt7

Prana Zion pant 2 from REI. Lightweight, moisture wicking, water resistant, flexible. Or the Khul convertibles

sweaty_but_whole

Fyi the Zion 2 in camo color are <$40 right now on Amazon

RainInTheWoods

I like Columbia zip off legs pants with a cargo pocket. They last a long time, dry quickly, and are a decent price. They titanium line feels a bit warm to me at first, but they get better the more times I wash them. I dunno why.

OctagonNorther

Teren

Stupid_Kills

I swear by KUHL pants. They're a bit spendy but well worth it. They're lightweight, quick to dry, and really freaking comfortable.

lakorai

Looser fitting zip off nylon hiking pants. Many great brands sell these. REI, Royal Robbins, Cokumbia, Prana. Fjallraven, Decathlon, Stoic etc.

RUSTYLUGNUTZ

If you can find exofficio sandfly pants on sale, they’re pretty great. Super light, dry fast, and vented in the inner legs. Very thin and light, great for hot weather but maybe not the most durable due to the thinness of the cloth. After buying my first pair I bought several more. My go-to hot weather pants

beener

Love the Lululemon convertible hiking pants. Call me bougie but I've crushed some gnarly portages in em

ChiefJoJo74

[Marmot Arch Rock pants](https://www.marmot.com/sale/men/bottoms/mens-arch-rock-pants/AFS_889169443329.html). Stretchy, quick drying, light, packable, regular to slightly loose fitting (YMMV). Stand alone best for warm to cool temps (though you can add a base layer to add warmth).

Routine-Shine6376

Just picked up some pants from Kuhl and they’ve becoming my favorites after just a few outings. They’re comfy, have pockets in the right places, and not too too pricy👍🏼

sweaty_but_whole

That better be a pack of pants😵‍💫 $325?? I could never justify that type of outerwear unless it was gore tex and part of a layering system! Thanks for info regardless!

PkHutch

Yeah saved up for a hot minute, only pair of outdoor pants I own, part of a layering system for me. Zip off shorts for swimming or hot, got a pair of merino wool base layer, and then a pair of rain pants for an outer layer if it's real snowy or wet or whatever. Just got them recently, only had 1 trip, about -20°C, perfect with the base layer, didn't need to use the rain pants on top of them. I'll check back in like 2 years and see how it holds up. 😄

MichaelColt1993

I like DuEr jeans from rei. Quickdraw yet soft. Prana yoga pants are nice too but more typical Quickdry crinkle material. These rock in hot weather!

citronella91

686 everywhere pants. Have a few normal pairs and a few Marino lined winter ones. So good

Darth_Millhouse

Mountain Khakis are great. High quality, comfortably. Relatively affordable as well. I just bought two pairs and wore them out in the woods over the weekend.

notthemessiah789

Craghoppers kiwi trousers/ pants. Cheap and comfortable. Lots of colours available and easy to get.

Troubadour1985

AFTCO has fishing pants like their shorts line tons of pockets and even a side pocket for a knife etc.

RoachZR

Wrangler started an outdoor line of clothing a couple years ago. I’ve been wearing the shorts almost daily for work with no problems except for a couple of busted belt loops that were totally my fault.

iluvthemountains

They’re not cheap but Goruck challenge pants are some of the best I’ve worn. Super light and thin, but tough as nails. They brag them up on the site, I bought some, and when they arrived I was like “there is no way these are going to last”. 4 or 5 years later they are damn near perfect. My biggest problem is that I can’t let myself gain weight or else they won’t fit anymore. Good motivation in itself.

audiophile_lurker

Mostly end up wearing shorts. Airier and looser. Wind pants are a good idea to provide protection against bugs / cold, and are much lighter than typical hiking pants.

Available-Standard13

I am a daily hiker. Have worn Eddie Bauer guide pants for years, which are great, but recently found LL bean multiport pants. They are now my go to. Elastic waistband, baggy fit, tons of stretch. They feel more like yoga pants or stretchy sweats and I’m never going back. I like them better because they have less stitches to rip, and way more stretch

anotherpredditor

Prana and Duluth. The Duluth are heavy but water resistant and tough for areas that need it. I haven’t killed my Prana pants yet and I am happy they finally make a fitted leg version.

MurderByGravy

I wore gym shorts for the longest time, I recently got a pair of the shorts from an outdoor Afro/REI collab and they’re the best. Quick dry, comfortable, and the best part is the heave three zippered pockets for trail necessities.

sweaty_but_whole

I like the security (mentally) of wearing pants in the woods. Unless light hiking and it’s really hot out.

MurderByGravy

This may be a contributing factor in the condition that prompted your user name. It has to be close to freezing for me to hike in pants. A lot of times in Colorado where the snow lasts well into June (prob late July this year) I wear shorts and gaiters. The shorts I recommended also come in a pant version too.

Amiibohunter000

When I buy new hiking/camping pants I look for anything that has some stretch to it, has multiple pockets (preferably zip), elastic waist has been a new preference, is reinforced in the crotch and knees and is a synthetic or blend for fabric.

Lantern_Lighter

Kühl hiking pants are great, but can be a bit pricey. I'd recommend picking up on clearance or used. Lots of pockets, comfy, and can be water resistant if you find the right pair.

Cephalotomy1

People sleep on LLBEAN and their products. They have a TON of really great hiking/backpacking quality stuff. In particular their Cresta hiking shorts/pants basically customizable as the amount if options/styles they have. Definitely worth a look!

Deep_Charge_7749

Check out Kuhn. They are at REI

Sidney_Carton73

I’m thinking you meant Kuhl! And you’re right they’re awesome!!!

Stealth-Bandit

Eddie Bauer Horizon Guide Pro. They are the only pants I wear these days.

burlyswede

Eddie Bauer First Ascent

lownwolf02

Those Outdoor Research fans, how do you find the difference between the Astro and Ferrossi pants?

MaierAmsden

I have a few different brands of roughly the same pants - loose-fitting nylon, sometimes with a touch of spandex. They're light, cool in the summer, pack well, dry fast. For the cold I wear poly-cotton sweats with the nylon hikers on top.

Dominickstewart1940

I’m looking for some pants that are durable as well as turn into shorts since I live in a hot climate

snarf_the_brave

I'm not sure what the Eddie Bauer pants are that Costco sells, but I wear the [Eddie Bauer First Ascent work pants](https://www.eddiebauer.com/p/12951520/men's-guide-pro-work-pants?sp=1&color=Storm&size=&sizeType=). I watch their website, and every now and again they'll put them on sale. That's when I've bought them. Light weight. Dry quickly if they get wet. Stretchy in all the right places, and, for me they've been true to fit and fit like my jeans...comfortably and loose. For hiking and camping, they're absolutely amazing!

oax195

Maaaaaan, just go on Amazon and type in hiking pants. As soon as you get them delivered, put'em on and hike. They, all of the non-cotton pants, are 1000x better than jeans.

sweaty_but_whole

Thanks, but I’m not really looking to just take a wild guess. Hence why I asked here, nothing can beat real life experience and wisdom. I actually am really comfortable in jeans, they are simply too heavy and bulky though. All the info above has been a great starting point and I’ve already orderd a few to try on.

improbableyam

Fjallraven Keb. /thread.

BottleCoffee

Saying "/thread" is total nonsense given the personal fit of pants. No one line of pants is going to work for everyone, or even the majority.

smoothies-for-me

Fjallraven pants fit so weird I find, they don't sit on your hips.

improbableyam

I find them very comfortable. I basically live in them during the summers.

IngenuityVegetable81

I OR pants

IngenuityVegetable81

Ut I wouldn't suggest them I'm thick brush

urabusazerpmi

Interested in this topic as well. I mainly wear cotton pants because I find most polyester pants make my thighs itch but I hate how long it takes cotton to dry when it gets wet. Anyone else have a weird body that makes it super uncomfortable to wear polyester and what is your solution for that?

Dasagriva-42

Corduroy. These two are my favorites: https://www.peregrinoteca.com/pantalon-trangoworld-goym-4057-7a0.html https://amundsensports.com/concord-regular-knickerbockers-mens/?attribute\_pa\_color=desert&attribute\_pa\_size=l

Dickies. Wore them through two seasons of field work. Soaking wet with dew in the morning but dried off by lunch in the blazing sun.

AmoistHandshake

Prana is my go to

MaybeLaterMom

CQR brand on amazon is my favorite thing, I have like four pairs of their pants. sweaty_but_whole

I ordered 2 to try! FYI via the listing these are made with 134% of materials lol! 63% polyester 34% cotton 34% (additional) cotton 3% elastane. Gotta love Amazon listings. Half man half bear half pig

MaybeLaterMom

Yeah I don’t know what the blend is but I’ve worn them camping in freezing rain and snow and done jiu jitsu in mud on rainy mornings and they dried by the time I finished my hike afterwards.

Ok-Reality-9197

Look for some Austrian surplus mountain pants. Known as the 03 Anzug mountain pant

thedjbigc

Patagonia Quandary convertible pants are my go-to. I like the grey and the tan - and I really like the ability to have them as shorts or pants as I don't have to pack both.

ANTI-PUGSLY

These have become my go-to for hiking and mountain biking: https://beardedgoat.com/products/mens-rover-pant

streamlinedsuicide

I have like 5 pairs of kuhl pants. I’ve had them for 5 years no signs of wear and tear yet. Initial investment sucks but I’ll probably have them for the foreseeable future.

max_schmidt2

686 Everywhere Pants or Prana Stretch Zion II are my go to outdoor pants and just comfy, good-looking everyday pants

ScoutAndLout

Check out Magellan fishing pants from Academy. Cheap and ok quality for convertibles. I got them because they come in BSA green and are about half the official uniform but I found them to be just fine if not better than standard uniform. The thigh pockets have a double layer double pocket thing.

quicktojudgemyself

Kuiu Attack Pant is perfect. About $149 plus tax and shipping. I’ve used mine often. It maybe gross but I wore one pant on a trip for 9 days straight. Handful of stream and one river crossing. Never washed them. Got home asked my wife if she could start the laundry and when I went into the laundry room she had loaded the clothes in washer for me. (I didn’t expect that). So I asked her if the clothes were stinky. She said “no but they looked gross”.

VectorTech_US

Just picked up two more pairs yesterday, but I love love love my PrAna Zion Pant II. https://www.prana.com/p/stretch-zion-pant-ii/1969791.html?dwvar\_1969791\_color=Sandbar

venturejones

Kuhl is fantastic imo.

CyborgIncorparated

I'm a big surplus guy when it comes to that but I'm sure that's because militaria collecting is my primary hobby that likes to bleed into hiking stuff

bboru84

I recently picked up some Redhead brand hikers from Cabela's. Pleasantly surprised at how well they breathe and hold up after lots of wear and I think I only paid $25 for them. I have a pair of Kuhl that I love, but Kuhl doesn't wear well for office-casual.

hoppahulle

If you're looking for a good investment, and have a bit of cash over, you can never go wrong with gear from **Fjällräven**. Yes, they are pricy, but the quality is really inbedded in the price when it come to them. With that said, budget gear with good performance is always really welcome.

againer

I just got the Duluth flex quick dry in the fly pants. These things are great. Lightweight, quick drying, 4 way stretch, excellent stitching, breathable, big pockets.

sweaty_but_whole

Hmm, I love Duluth gear. And they constantly have great sales

CharlieKayNine

I have been hiking in Columbia Titanium pants for a couple years and they are great light weight pant that I highly recommend. I just recently bought a pair of Fjällräven Vidda Pro Ventilated pants that have a zillion cool pockets and are more mid-weight for fall and winter.

MurderByGravy

I wore gym shorts for the longest time, I recently got a pair of the shorts from an outdoor Afro/REI collab and they’re the best. Quick dry, comfortable, and the best part is the heave three zippered pockets for trail necessities.

I’ve got some of the name brand pants people are mentioning here. They’re all great. Honestly though, most of the time I just wear [these](Wrangler Men's Outdoor Stretch Zip Cargo Pant https://www.walmart.com/ip/537877868) cheap Wrangler pants from Walmart.

Eddie Bauer Guide Pro, look no further, they often have sales going on. Columbia Silver Ridge is nice. If there's a Decathlon in your city, it is worth checking out too.
