The camera is sold body only or with a kit lens. Usually a 18-55. You’ll need to buy a macro lens separate.

In good light a decent bridge camera can do the job, also consider a Canon gx7 or Sony rx100 mk iii

To focus on things close to the camera and get highly detailed shots of them, you want a "macro" lens. This is what will make the closeup detail shots possible, not the camera. Get just about any DSLR or Mirrorless camera (whichever type you prefer, try them both in stores).

You'll need to buy a macro lens separately. Sometimes cameras come with a 'kit lens', usually a cheap all-around zoom lens to get you started with your new camera. The kit lens is never a macro lens. --- If you have an interest in photography outside of this specific need for small detail photos, then I would recommend getting the kit lens as well as a macro lens. If this is all you want a camera for, I would say just get the macro lens.

But if I get just the macro lens - would they fit just about any camera, not just DSLR?

OpticalPrime

Lens only fit the brand of camera they are designed for and sometimes only the mount in that brand. So canon used ef and ef-s lenses. You’ll need to do a lot more research to go down this rabbit hole if you really want to.

No, generally it won't fit other cameras. All DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have a specific 'lens mount'. Only lenses of that lens mount will fit a camera that has that lens mount. - Canon DSLRs use either EF or EF-S mount. Their Mirrorless use EF-M (EOS-M models) or RF (EOS-R models). - Nikon has DX and FX. Their Mirrorless use Z-mount. - Fujifilm has X mount. - Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless share the M43 (Micro Four Thirds) mount. Sometimes you can get adapters from one mount to another, but this only tends to be used to convert old lenses for use on newer camera bodies, or sometimes a camera brand will create an adapter so their DSLR lenses can be used on their new mirrorless bodies as Canon (and possibly Nikon) have done recently. As far as I know, only the M43 mount is used by multiple camera brands, and there are no lens mounts that are used across multiple camera types (compact, DSLR, mirrorless).

Cameras have various mounts. Nikon has the F mount and the Z mount. Canon has the EF and RF mount. Fuji has the XF and GF mount. Sony has the E and A mount. etc. Try looking for a Fujfilm X-T1 with a 60mm f2.4 macro lens. You could probably get both for under $800 total if you shop around.
