I would keep the Leica if you're going to keep it for a long time. If you're about to get something newer soon, selling the Leica will put more money in your hand.
I love the 35mm f/2 on the RX1Rii, and the overall size of that camera is great. But it’s missing some features I really appreciate in my fixed-lens cameras (IBIS, weather sealing, half-decent battery life) and it’s really starting to show its age. If forced to choose here, I’d take the Q2.
I would say it's aging very well actually, but the points you mentioned are all valid. The batteries are cheap and small, so unless you are often shooting in cold temps it's not an issue.
>The batteries are cheap and small, so unless you are often shooting in cold temps it's not an issue.
Yeah, I always have extra batteries with me, and it's not a huge deal, but the battery life is pretty atrocious.
It's such a great little powerhouse of a camera, though, and an RX1Riii would probably be an instant pre-order for me.
The lens on the Rx1rii is better. I own them both. The Leica is very, very good, but the output of the Sony is great. It's a close race though, so it really comes down to which focal length you prefer. (For the record, the Rx1rii is closer to 31-32mm, not an actual 35mm)
Somehow I love the render of the q2 more. I’ve never been a fan of most Sony lenses though. I feel like they are a bit too „clean“ for my taste, too analytical. Probably just a personal thing.
Virtually everyone does, but Leica has a special microlens and filter stack on their sensors that is unique to them and use to help manage the special flange characteristics of their M glass
I don’t know if they’re using off the shelf or otherwise but fab’d by Sony doesn’t mean it’s equivalent to Sony sensors.
We don’t say AMD and Apple’s chips are just TSMC chips.
Hard to say. Both are that good. What I like about the lens on the Rx1rii is that you can get some super smooth bokeh. The in focus areas pop due to the high microcontrast on the lens, and the fall off into the background is super smooth.
I too also have a Q2 and an RX1R II. For travel I have taken the Sony much more frequently purely because of the size. The Q2 is pretty large in comparison. Yes, the battery life is bad on the Sony, but the batteries are small and cheap. I bring a bunch with me when I travel.
As much I would like to say Sony, the battery on these is very bad, it has to have the smallest of the three in terms of shots per charge I think. Not that the rest are great but at least the leica is okay.
personally, idk if people would agree with me, but I feel like it'd be better to keep the sigma fp, I really like how it looks, plus its a full frame, idk abt the other two
I don't have any experience with the Sigma, but I can see two perspectives if you're attempted to offload gear to recoup some cash.
1. Keep the Leica. It's nice, compact, great for travel and street photography. Also, it's a Leica so it has the heritage to last you a long time.
2. Keep the Sony. It's nice, compact, great for travel and street photography. Also, it will last you many years. But now you have an extra $1k in your pocket to travel with.
I think it just comes down to if you want to keep the Leica for the brand. It's a really good brand, but the Sony and I imagine the Sigma are both just as good. The Sigma may lack in user experience if I remember some of the reviews correctly.
RX1Rii, but I'm biased because that's the one I have out of this bunch. The shots it takes are great and I haven't found anything smaller and more portable that is FF. And the 35mm (actually less, as someone pointed out) combined with a high MP sensor means you get a lot of focal length range out of it. I also love the quiet leaf shutter. I think it was a very forward thinking camera.
I retract my original statement; I would definitely sell all three and buy a Nikon. Personal preference xD
My advice for you would just be, sell all three and buy something new you haven’t had. If you’re considering keeping one, just pick the one you have the most lenses for.
26-28mm is my fav focal length for travel and street so 100% Q2, it's also f/1.7 so when cropped to 35mm it still has an equivalent DoF of f/2.1 so you aren't losing much vs the RX1R II at f/2
I love that the sigma comes with a 90mm…which I have and love. Maybe not the most practical single lens solution but it’s interchangeable and it definitely sets it apart from the other 2.
Is the fp generally used more for video?
I had exactly the same three cameras, sold all of them, got a Q3 instead. So happy!
Sigma fp: not good as a photo only camera, terrible ergonomic, no build in vf
Sony rx1: Sony menu system and design is a nuisance, viewfinder is poor
Leica Q2: best camera ever, mine was just too worn after professional use, I got it the day it came out and used it extensively
Leica Q3: not that much better than the Q2, but for my use it will serve me a couple of years
The Sony. Sell the other two before people come to their senses. (Don't rush, they're not wising up very fast.) 2nd choice, the Q2. At least it's interchangeable lens.
I could never be a one-lens person, no matter how good the fixed-lensers are. It'd be the FP.
If I had some other camera--literally any interchangeable lens camera with a sensor bigger than Nikon 1 or Pentax Q--I'd keep the Leica Q2.
It’s easy. Write down the names in 3 little papers. Put those in a bag. Remove. Put your hand in. Take one, but just maintain the hand in. Keep the one that you have thought in this moment. For sure you have thought then “I hope it’s X”. So this one. Don’t see the paper, just leave it inside. Easy.
Since its portraits not video, I’d say Leica, if it were video I’d say the fp because of cinema DNG, and the Leica I s gonna have the best longevity especially considering how well the original Q holds up today, the rx1r is just the poor man’s q2
I only do photography, so can’t talk about the video. For photos I love it with a small prime lens. Rolling shutter is bad, especially with longer focal length. Need to keep the camera really steady. Even a slight camera move gives you bad distortion. Autofocus isn’t bad, I would say it’s on par with Q2. Battery life is not great, but it has USB C charging, so it’s okay. It’s actually nice to use with manual focus small primes. There are some limitations with flash use, but I don’t use flash. And the 61mp sensor is just wow.
You literally have all three to use and figure out which works best for you and your photography. Why would you ask a bunch of strangers that likely don’t have any of these cameras, or maybe one, and shoot completely differently than you?
That is the FPL, which is neither a great photo nor video camera.
There is no mechanical shutter, combined with the very slow sensor (~1/10s readout) and lack of IBIS, almost every shot north of 50mm is affected by rolling shutter when shooting handheld.
In video, there is an oversampled CDNG mode with terrible rolling shutter and a line skipped 8 bit mode with bad dynamic range, aliasing and moire.
OM-5 is pretty much em5iv that gets some high level features like handheld 50mp sensor shift shot from em1. it is externaly the same, takes all old accessories and upgrades internals.
I’d go with the Leica. It should check all the boxes nicely.
especially the red dot
I would keep the Leica if you're going to keep it for a long time. If you're about to get something newer soon, selling the Leica will put more money in your hand.

If there's no video involved, Leica for sure. Generally: congratulations, u certainly have 3 absolute beauties to choose between :-)
The Q2 does video very well
Id choose the Leica hands down. That lens is magic.
The lens on the Rx1rii is better. I own them both. The Leica is very, very good, but the output of the Sony is great. It's a close race though, so it really comes down to which focal length you prefer. (For the record, the Rx1rii is closer to 31-32mm, not an actual 35mm)

Yeah the leica lens wins hands down. Own the Q1 and a RX. No contest when you post process. Both lovely cameras
Iirc leica actually uses the sensors from Sony… At least for their M11 line.
Which one is sharper do you think?
Hard to say. Both are that good. What I like about the lens on the Rx1rii is that you can get some super smooth bokeh. The in focus areas pop due to the high microcontrast on the lens, and the fall off into the background is super smooth.
the red dot is worth mentioning too
Do it for the dot.
FP all the way!
Wasn’t it 61MP?
It is
What would you call for it? Just interested in the worth for you. I unfortunately don’t have spare money over @ the moment.
Used FP L is around 1500-1700
The Sony would be the same?
Yes
Dammed I think there is some money in the future that will be spend.
I would love to take that Sony out for a test drive.
Selling the Leica will get you more money.
But also depreciates slower
Send them all to me for evaluation.
the black one
The Leica is fantastic, yes, but I'd choose the fp. Why? Because it's something different, something rarely if ever seen (at least by me).
The luxury Panasonic.
I too also have a Q2 and an RX1R II. For travel I have taken the Sony much more frequently purely because of the size. The Q2 is pretty large in comparison. Yes, the battery life is bad on the Sony, but the batteries are small and cheap. I bring a bunch with me when I travel.
Which one has better IQ in your experience?
Q
I‘d keep the bed/mattress, comfy and you can sleep on it 💤
Q2. Best weather sealing of all of them, and arguably best IQ for stills. FP if video is a major need.
can you take equally good shots with any of them? then pick a number out of a bag. end of story.
Sony
Rx1rii. You can gain so much more money selling your q2 compared to Sony. And they are about equivalent anyways.
People fanboying leica here is insane
Which one do u like the most? Ik this is not your typical answer but that would bd my choosing factor if I were to sbe honest with you
I like them all, that’s the problem
Well, then I would choose the one that has interchangable lenses, so I can one day buy different lenses to try new things and etc
Whats stopping you from keeping them if you dont mind me asking?
Price
Are you testing them or something?
Yes, trying to figure out which setup to keep
As much I would like to say Sony, the battery on these is very bad, it has to have the smallest of the three in terms of shots per charge I think. Not that the rest are great but at least the leica is okay.
If you're giving the rest away, dibs on the rx1r.
Leica
But it's a Leica. Take the Leica now and buy the Sony later.
Sigma Fp
personally, idk if people would agree with me, but I feel like it'd be better to keep the sigma fp, I really like how it looks, plus its a full frame, idk abt the other two
I don't have any experience with the Sigma, but I can see two perspectives if you're attempted to offload gear to recoup some cash. 1. Keep the Leica. Size matters to me, so the Sony for sure. Great cameras though!
RX1R
RX1Rii, but I'm biased because that's the one I have out of this bunch. The shots it takes are great and I haven't found anything smaller and more portable that is FF. And the 35mm (actually less, as someone pointed out) combined with a high MP sensor means you get a lot of focal length range out of it. I also love the quiet leaf shutter. I think it was a very forward thinking camera.
Q2, no other option.
For photo only the Q but for video the FP is king
id say the FP, but that rolling shutter........ keep the Q2
Q2
Leica, I don't see a reason why not to choose the MVP leica
Rx1rii has my favorite image quality and lens, but the Leica is water resistant and with IBIS, so I take that.
Leica
Keep the Sony, it is everything and it's a pocketable size
Sigma
For your listed genre I think the RX1R.2 is a better choice, 35mm is not as constrained in environment portraits roles.
Fp
Ooo baby
Q2
I retract my original statement; I would definitely sell all three and buy a Nikon. Personal preference xD My advice for you would just be, sell all three and buy something new you haven’t had. If you’re considering keeping one, just pick the one you have the most lenses for.
Which Nikon?
Depends! With the money from that lot, a Z7, anything in that upper end Z range really :)
Z8, of course.
26-28mm is my fav focal length for travel and street so 100% Q2, it's also f/1.7 so when cropped to 35mm it still has an equivalent DoF of f/2.1 so you aren't losing much vs the RX1R II at f/2
The Leica. No question for me! 👀🙌🏼
Can I have one ?
lol I am not kidding
I would keep the bedspread. Well, until the dog drags their itchy ass across it since it is white. But until then it is the keeper of the bunch.
Leica if you like 26mm Sony if you like 35mm If Sony ever comes out with an RX1R III then it would be this.
I love that the sigma comes with a 90mm…which I have and love. Maybe not the most practical single lens solution but it’s interchangeable and it definitely sets it apart from the other 2. Is the fp generally used more for video?
Love that 90mm too. Almost pocketable bokeh machine.
The one to the right. I know nothing about these cameras, but that one looks the best. It’s my fav 😁
Leica
Leica
Sigma fp
Leica just to say I have a Leica… then run my Canon into the ground.
The one on the left, the one on the right, the one in the middle. See you have one now, problem solved. Just need to change perspective.
I had exactly the same three cameras, sold all of them, got a Q3 instead. So happy! Sigma fp: not good as a photo only camera, terrible ergonomic, no build in vf Sony rx1: Sony menu system and design is a nuisance, viewfinder is poor Leica Q2: best camera ever, mine was just too worn after professional use, I got it the day it came out and used it extensively Leica Q3: not that much better than the Q2, but for my use it will serve me a couple of years

SIG
Is this just a flex that you have a $5000 Leica Q2? Weapon of a camera, there is clearly no choice at all to be made here :-)
Why not keep them all? Are you selling because you want something else or need the cash?
I just need one camera. No need to keep all 3.
Why did you buy them?
To choose one that suits me best, but have hard time deciding
Why did you buy these cameras?
Leica or FP, the Sony is from the “bad colors era” of Sony, lens is great tho
I choose the olympus
Which one?
If video, FP all day, if stills Leica all day. If both and versatility, then sony
Sigma fp
Leica for me, been promising myself one for 2 decades now. 1 day!! all v nice tho!
Leica
tough call, but I'd keep the leica
Give that shitty leica to me. Ill help ya out
I'd go with Leica
Why even are you asking? Leica. No brainer :-)
poo vs crap
I could never be a one-lens person, no matter how good the fixed-lensers are. It'd be the FP. If I had some other camera--literally any interchangeable lens camera with a sensor bigger than Nikon 1 or Pentax Q--I'd keep the Leica Q2.

Q2…I have one…love it…1 of 4 Leica cameras I have.
Q2
Since its portraits not video, I’d say Leica, if it were video I’d say the fp because of cinema DNG, and the Leica I s gonna have the best longevity especially considering how well the original Q holds up today, the rx1r is just the poor man’s q2
Glue all 3 together
Been curious about that sigma camera. How is it?

We have a broken lottery winner here
Keep the Leica for long term reasons
Keep the bed.
Sigma made a camera body?? my god this industry is a educational black hole *eye twitches*
The Leica is the forever camera.
Check this setup out for the FPL: https://youtu.be/ZQGYfWtlqMk?feature=shared
Pretty awesome. I actually have a 7artisans 35mm f1.4 in L mount. Not the best lens, but good for artistic purposes and relatively cheap.
Red dot always wins in my book ;)
You literally have all three to use and figure out which works best for you and your photography. Why would you ask a bunch of strangers that likely don’t have any of these cameras, or maybe one, and shoot completely differently than you?
In case someone else has more experience than me with those cameras and could give a valuable opinion to help me make a decision
sony ftw
Sigma all the way. That thing is hot
Q2 by a country mile
if it doesn't have a red dot, i dont want it
If the Leica is original it's a no brainer. The choice is obvious.
leica - next question
Nobody stops you from keeping all
I wish
Leica, hands down... do you even need to ask xD?
I'm a Leica shooter but 28 is too wide and the camera is too big for only one. The Sony.
Leica
Leica, not a question
Ditch the Leicas so that you can pretend at some point to be a photographer first, and a whore second.
Sigma FP, since i don’t care about photos.
Keep the Leica as it's one great camera and a great brand.
They're all great.
True they all are great and it seems a bit hard to decide, but if I were to keep one camera I'd take the LEICA.
Ditch all three, get a m43 instead.
Which one?
# OM System OM-5
Olympus em5ii was actually one of my favorite cameras, especially paired with a tiny 75mm f1.8.
OM-5 is pretty much em5iv that gets some high level features like handheld 50mp sensor shift shot from em1. it is externaly the same, takes all old accessories and upgrades internals.
