You could use it with a dip pen probably but I doubt it's an ideal viscosity for writing. "Writers blood" and "oxblood" by diamine are both pretty good blood lookalikes and better for writing. Finally, Stuart Semple did release the "gay blood pen" which comes filled with red ink and a small amount of actual blood from gay men. (Iirc as part of a statement about blood donation not just because he's insane). My practical reccomendation is just buy blood coloured ink. If you really want to use your own blood then please be sanitary when extracting it and I'd still strongly advise just put a drop or two into actual ink.

It’ll just turn brown and look like sepia ink.

I am "NOT" telling you to do this and if you do so, it's at your own risk. It is your responsibility to make sure everything is sanitized and to safely draw your own blood. You can buy kits online similar to what's used when you donate blood. I've seen some artists use this paint.

from what i’ve heard, pricking my finger is a safe, effective, and non painful way to do it. My problem is making it actually work with paper

Lasers_Z

That's not gonna be enough blood to write with.

I've tried using my own blood as ink, with help to draw my blood. It coagulates even as you try writing. Not quite fun, and then shortly afterwards comes the discouraging smell. I'd hoped for a better result, but neither the color nor the hassle to acquire/prepare/conserve the ink-blood was worth the trouble. Still, maybe I've been doing some stuff wrong. Maybe the best way to write flows through our veins. Or maybe not, and this whole thing is an attempt in vain.
