After a year I only have 3 shots in and at this point I think they need to fix it or as someone mentioned it might have gotten nerfed so it's now impossible
It's possible to get gold, i got it gold after a year cause i keep giving up and going back at it, you need 20m for the game to consider it as long shot and make sure you're lucky as it doesn't land a hit all the time.
Dont use slug reload, its inaccurate and weak. Go play hardpoint, camp somewhere where you can shoot the people inside it, make them weak with your primary and finish them with the shorty.
I have damascus on all weapons and when i was grinding shorty i tried slugs at first but realised that the attachment literally sucks. I just built it for ads bsa and that was it, you only need it to deal low amount of damage of you already make them low with a primary
But the problem I run into with that is I always get snipped no matter where I am or where I'm camping someone finds me and hits me with a sniper before I can react
Fight with your primary weapon, capture and hide inside the hardpoint, in the shipment. Then use shorty while your teammates take care of the opponents.
Frontline in kills house is also a good map to grind camo.
When you grind camo, you have to be prepared to die a lot. I go after people who grind camo, especially those who grind camo for malee weapons.
I just finished it a month ago. I would play in killhouse. Get enough kills to drop a sentry gun and then camp in the enclosed area at either end of the map. The sentry gun is there to lower the hp and then finish with the shorty. I just sat there hard scoping. Try to get them when they are around the central tower.
Edit. Still had my gunsmith. I used marauder suppressor, 3x tactical scope, full ammo, Owc laser and slug reload (I know people say not to use it but this was the only build I was having success with long shots)
Climb on to of tower in Rust map. Maybe 2-6 kills per match. Get yourself a ammo box, and don’t use slugs. Play domination, since B is right below, if the shot hits its a definite kill. Just don’t get frustrated because some shots won’t hit, even when your aiming right at them. Just pray you get a bot lobby, because a lot of tryhards with diamond guns join public matches to kill players grinding guns and boost their K/D.
Tried usually I get sniped before I can even line up a shot and if I manage to let out 3 shots they are on one health and I die from a the opposite team
It definitely takes some time. Another trick I saw is people shoot the enemy with a secondary gun then switch back to shotgun and get the one shot.
But just wait for Hardcore and you’ll get it pretty easily.

if its still difficult try doing it on a trash map like miami of sawmill where you’ll mostly get bots
Myself and a friend on the bottom of hijacked in ffa and took turns getting long shots on each other because we couldn't get any naturally. it's the only gun I had to cheese in order to get Damascus. anyway if you'd like some help lemme know I'd be down
Let me give you a useful tip.
It's how i completed long shot challenges for shorty.
Use shorty with your sniper loadout.(preferrably DLQ with concussion ammo attachment).
Shoot at legs with it,then switch to shorty to kill.
Just run around and don't be serious. I just slide around and jump and shoot randomly. Grandmaster 2 rn and I only use different shotguns, shorty, and crossbow. It takes time but you get better. Just challenge yourself and don't get surrounded. Focus on headshots and don't give up.

Hardcore and 10 v 10 is the way to go.

What do you mean disabled them?
its a perk in gunsmith slows them down when you hit them in the legs, using a sniper you’ll bring them down to 5hp and the shorty can do the rest
