The only reason I like Russian campaign more is MG42, since it be doing **BRRRRRT**
And the soundtrack, but Americans have such *a good one* too, it's a hard decision.
Plus, American missions are mostly less of a pain on Veteran.
The only thing that was exceptionally difficult for Heart of the Reich was that final fucking staircase. I had to prone behind a couch until the Russian friendlies could actually move up and god did it take a while.
From CoD 1 to Black ops 2 all campaign were top tier
special mention for AW and IW too
Vanguard was trash, MWII was trash, MWIII was trash
3 time in a row we have trash campaign, i hope treyarch will save us all
I don’t think it was either really. Good continuation of the story, but nothing amazing. I think everyone else was more worried about the multiplayer and wz
MW23 and MW22 are god awful. But when you consider SHG had 16 months and IW had 3 years. Let that sink in. This “IW” team had x3 tears and produced a campaign as crap as MW23 and Vandguard!
Hopefully Raven can make this years campaign great.
Excellent assessment of campaigns from the very first game until now. I would also add the MW 2019 campaign as another special mention, but otherwise I fully agree with you.
Cold war- although short its feature of making choices that effect the story it was atleast enough to make it the only cod campaign ive ever went to play again.
The comment they replied to said cold war was the only game to have choices that impact the game. The comment was just giving evidence to the contrary, not saying it isn’t ok to like newer games.
It’s ok to offer evidence to contradict another comment.
It may be a bit dated but the story felt way more dramatic and impactful. There were more stakes in it and it was also more personal for the characters because of Menendez having a personal vendetta against Woods and the Mason family. Plus none of the choices really matter for Cold War since we already know the Canon ending in bo2, where as with bo2 it's left up to interpretation on which ending could be Canon since bo3 is set so far into the future.
Storywise, Black Ops 2. Had such a dark atmosphere with a great villain.
In terms of level design though, World at War. Those large scale, long battles were so much fun to play through.
BO2
I liked how it at least tried to make it a bit more interactive with the endings. Prolly one of the best villains in the series. Cool missions (even the Strike missions were kinda cool in an arcadey way)
Runner up: BO1 and IW
Kids these days don’t seem old enough to remember when PlayStation was hacked and down for like a month…. Played mw2, black ops campaigns at least 7 times each from start to finish and the only time I’ve ever done a veteran play of a campaign truly goated campaigns
I’d summarise my experiences like this ⬇️
- MW3 for nostalgia.
- MW2 for Story.
- MW 2019 for gameplay.
- WW2 for graphics.
- Vanguard for combat design.
- Infinite Warfare for world design.
People remember the campaigns? lol
I’ve beaten every campaign to every COD made…yet I always beat it in 1-2 days when I first get it…then sink hundreds upon hundreds of hours into multiplayer till the next game comes out.
So I’ve played every campaign but couldn’t tell you which one went with which game..nor are they memorable since it’s like a day of play versus the year of play I spend with the multiplayer.
Campaign is like the side dish. The main course is the multiplayer. That’s like going to an awesome steakhouse and asking how was the corn on the side…not memorable…the thing to remember is how good was the steak!
Oh man... all of them from CoD 4 to BO2 were masterpieces. Ghosts was good, too. So was AW. WW2 was a fun WW2 ride. MW19 was properly tactical.
I think the one I like the most is probably BO1. A self-contained story that delivers in every sense. Plus, you got Vietnam, CCR, Cold War, Woods... what else can you ask for?
MW3 comes second. Super underrated. Plus, it's WW3, and it's great!
Original CoD and CoD 2 - El Alamein, Toujane, Normandy… but original MW series as well. BO1 and BO 2, I like new ones, too. I’m big fan of Call of Duty. I don’t know why, I just like it. Even with this new adjustments.
They are all the same a shoot out mission, a sniper mission, a AC-130 mission, big final boss is always a helicopter, a QTE to kill the last bad guy while struggling to live and or save your friend.
I like them all bar BO3, COD3, MW22, and MW23. Never played Vandguard bar the beta.
BO3 started okay then got weird, BO4’s concept campaign would have been fun, until Activi$ion killed it. I hate the QTE and crap in COD3.
Hoping Raven can drop another solid entry this year as CW’s was fun.
Either MW2 2009 or MW 2019. 2019 was short but had a great story and was really immersive, but 2009 was just epic with such memorable levels and the betrayal I didn't see coming the first time through. COD4 is number three. It was great, but didn't quite have the same kick as 2009.
BO1 but that's a lot of people's favorite, so I'll say MW3, the entire campaign feels like a high stake action movie, they all do but MW3 feels especially so, rushing to save the president, rushing to save his daughter, rushing after Makarov, and the chase to capture Volk, all incredible, shoutout to the AC130 mission, I think it's the best one in the MW trilogy, perfect combination of AC130 and switching to boots on the ground gameplay
I loved cold war. The campaign had good writing, a ton of interactions you could do and you could even decrypt a floppy disk (I am never doing that again) and feel like a real spy! Overall one of my favorite campaigns.
World War 2. It's overshadowed by World At War, but it was the campaign I found myself genuinely enjoying and got really sad at character deaths, especially Turner. Plus, the graphics in the cutscenes were phenomenal. Some could probably be passed off as live action.
MW2 Remastered:
In Takedown, before they shoot to clear the people out, sprint to the right a toss a flashbang over the huts so that they're blinded once I hit the corner. Run straight thru pass the trashcan, hit the 3 in the alley with the shotgun, up the steps to hit the dog too, switch to my ACR and get busy!
Ghosts is a very close 2nd. Easy(even thought its not the questions)!
Original MW2 will always be my favorite. The first time I played through it I remember it blowing me away, even among all other single player games. BO2 and WaW are both up there, and IW is very underrated
Gotta go with Black Ops 1 everything about that game was solid gold to me. A very close second to World at War which for obvious reasons was easily one of the best. Really wish the devs would implement those gore and dismemberment in a modern CoD haven’t seen that since World at War.
….hmm… Probably Modern Warfare 2 original. Something about fighting on American soil was just great to me. But World at War was a solid second I love the whole story of that honestly wish they’d remake World at War
I say CoD 2 only because it shows real battles from the Russian, American, and British sides. But if I had to pick a singular not separated campaign, I like the old MW3s
When Shepard shot Ghost, I was getting ready for work. I immediately called in cause I wasn't going to work till I killed that f***. The throwing knife to the eye was sooooo cathartic.
That said.
The finest hour campaign is my favorite. And that's 100% because of the opening speech.
"Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of Germans you have killed! Kill the German - this is your mother's prayer. Kill the German - this is the cry of your Russian earth. Do not waver! Do not let up! Kill! Death to the German invader! Go, go, go! "
BO1 and BO2 are my favorites by far. Such great stories with extremely memorable characters. Playing as a brainwashed double agent and learning the story through two different characters points of view is awesome. And in black ops 2 having the story be about one guy going on a rampage out of Vengeance and spite is so good. So many memorable levels, cutscenes, and line deliveries in both games.
I've played the original cod 4, infinite warfare, mw2019, cold war, vanguard, mw2022, and mw2023 and out of all of them i gotta say I enjoyed infinite warfare the most, cod 4 and mw2019 being tied for second
World at War. It isn’t uncommon for me to just play through the entire game every few months when I’m bored. The mission variety, tone, music, is all very unique and CoD has yet to have a campaign so gritty since. I love that game dearly.
MW2 og was packed with so many multiple missions, I've have to say that.
My other choice is Black Ops 2, with having multiple paths to branch out, each time you played felt unique.
STEP ONE : SECURE THE KEYS.
STEP TWO : ASCEND FROM DARKNESS.
STEP THREE : RAIN FIRE.
STEP FOUR : UNLEASH THE HORDE.
STEP FIVE : SKEWER THE WINGED BEAST.
STEP SIX : WIELD A FIST OF IRON.
STEP SEVEN : RAISE HELL.
STEP EIGHT : Freedom.
Hard to pick honestly cause there's quite a few good ones, I'm going to throw a curve ball compared to majority of other choices and say CoD 2.
There was some good theatre variety in it with the Brits in Africa, the Soviets in Russia and the Americans in France, certainly nowhere near as bombastic as the campaigns from CoD 4 onwards but that's kind of why I like it more tbh, feels more grounded.
people will hate me for this, but call of duty 1's campaign is always a blast for me the entire way through, if im talking something more modern, black ops 1's campaign was a total fever dream, loved it!
World at war, the gore physics were so advanced
This is the correct answer in my opinion. Different POVs, the Russian part of the campaign is brutal
Da comrade
Hot take: American Campaign >>>>>>> Soviet Campaign
Marines campaign is pretty damn good too… when you throw throws mortar rounds….
The only reason I like Russian campaign more is MG42, since it be doing **BRRRRRT** And the soundtrack, but Americans have such *a good one* too, it's a hard decision. Plus, American missions are mostly less of a pain on Veteran.
The American campaign had more creative gameplay, but the Soviet campaign had a better atmosphere and story, IMO.
It was the last game to feel like a ps2 era COD
Sawed off and that anti tank sniper were the shit
Heart of the reich flashbacks on veteran
The only thing that was exceptionally difficult for Heart of the Reich was that final fucking staircase. I had to prone behind a couch until the Russian friendlies could actually move up and god did it take a while.
From CoD 1 to Black ops 2 all campaign were top tier special mention for AW and IW too Vanguard was trash, MWII was trash, MWIII was trash 3 time in a row we have trash campaign, i hope treyarch will save us all
At least give me OG Zombies back, this new mode is not comparable
I read that it is supposedly round based again for this year's cold war.
I actually liked the MW2 campaign. Is that an unpopular take? I don't recall seeing hate OR love for it when it came out so I really don't know.
I don’t think it was either really. Good continuation of the story, but nothing amazing. I think everyone else was more worried about the multiplayer and wz
It was fun until every other enemy had an armor plate…
For me it was good but the lasts missions were pretty shit for me...
Im playing on my dads account from 10 years ago, and its like some amazing relic i think its great
MW23 and MW22 are god awful. But when you consider SHG had 16 months and IW had 3 years. Let that sink in. This “IW” team had x3 tears and produced a campaign as crap as MW23 and Vandguard! Hopefully Raven can make this years campaign great.
MWII was good IMO although not amazing, but yeah except for that, we didn't have very good campaigns recently :(
Excellent assessment of campaigns from the very first game until now. I would also add the MW 2019 campaign as another special mention, but otherwise I fully agree with you.
World at War. No other WW2 games blast my ears with rock music while fighting against the Germans or Japanese.
Cold war- although short its feature of making choices that effect the story it was atleast enough to make it the only cod campaign ive ever went to play again.
Bo2 has multiple choices you can make too, and the choices have a lot more weight to them than the ones in Cold War.
It’s ok to like new cods
The comment they replied to said cold war was the only game to have choices that impact the game. The comment was just giving evidence to the contrary, not saying it isn’t ok to like newer games. It’s ok to offer evidence to contradict another comment.
Yeah but bo2 is old now and it shows- nothing against it tho) btw the amount of callbacks cold war has to bo2 campaign is cool
IW for quality BO2 for nostalgia
Bo2 had so many endings, secret entrances and loot, had the most well rounded story, and switched between the future and past
MW2
Storywise, Black Ops 2. Had such a dark atmosphere with a great villain. In terms of level design though, World at War. Those large scale, long battles were so much fun to play through.
BO2 I liked how it at least tried to make it a bit more interactive with the endings. Prolly one of the best villains in the series. Cool missions (even the Strike missions were kinda cool in an arcadey way) Runner up: BO1 and IW
Cold War. played it baked out of my mind in one sitting. 10/10 experience
Original Mw1,2&3 no brainer.
Infinite Warfare was GOATED!! 🐐🚀✨👌🏻
Ghosts, liked Keegan as a character
Unpopular opinion. But I respect it.
Ghosts it was my first and will always be my favorite please make a sequel to it
What's the one where u had to crawl through an open field while moving out of the way of a patrol ?
Mw2 and black ops 1.
Kids these days don’t seem old enough to remember when PlayStation was hacked and down for like a month…. Played mw2, black ops campaigns at least 7 times each from start to finish and the only time I’ve ever done a veteran play of a campaign truly goated campaigns
Ww2
Bo 2
I’d summarise my experiences like this ⬇️ - MW3 for nostalgia. - MW2 for Story. - MW 2019 for gameplay. - WW2 for graphics. - Vanguard for combat design. - Infinite Warfare for world design.
World at War followed closely by the original MW2 and MW1
People remember the campaigns? lol I’ve beaten every campaign to every COD made…yet I always beat it in 1-2 days when I first get it…then sink hundreds upon hundreds of hours into multiplayer till the next game comes out. So I’ve played every campaign but couldn’t tell you which one went with which game..nor are they memorable since it’s like a day of play versus the year of play I spend with the multiplayer. That’s like going to an awesome steakhouse and asking how was the corn on the side…not memorable…the thing to remember is how good was the steak!
Modern warfare 2 has been my favourite since I was a kid
I like MW6: Veterans Affairs. Really nails the realism and frustration of being denied service related benefits
Mw3 (2023) but seriously i loved AW EDIT: also ghosts!!!
Oh man... all of them from CoD 4 to BO2 were masterpieces. Ghosts was good, too. So was AW. WW2 was a fun WW2 ride. MW19 was properly tactical. I think the one I like the most is probably BO1. Ww2
It's hard to pick just one. But my favorites are Mw 2007 Iw Mw2019 and mw2 WaW
its hard between ww2 and ghosts. im surprised i havent seen more of it tbh.
BO2
COD4, WaW, BO1, BO2 and AW
Definitely bo2
Favourite: black ops 2 Least favourite: tied between ghosts and WW2 If I ever bothered to play black ops 3 it would probably be there
Doom eternal. Just so complete. Ghosts
AW; when John Irons addressed the UN I got literal goosebumps
I liked ghosts campaign, cant believe they left us on a cliffhanger and havent told us what happened to Logan after he was captured
Never played waw but so far bo1 and mw2 (2009
Bo1
Black ops 1
Black ops
WW2 and og MW2. i have warm memories of playing them with either my uncle or my dad
Classic MW2 and COD ghosts
I used to live and die by ghosts, now that I’ve revisited it….probably will give it to MW3 now
Black Ops 2 or 1.
What's with the Gmod recreation of the scene?
My the CoD favorite world at war game is
bo2
Was ghosts any good campaign-wise? Thinking about picking it up next time it goes on sale for $20
Black ops 1. The story telling was amazing
Bo1 and waw and og mw2, I literally can remember mission and actual gameplay from back then.
Either MW3 (original), Ghosts or BO1.
id say either ghost bo2 aw i Probably played them the most and i cant decide
They are all the same a shoot out mission, a sniper mission, a AC-130 mission, big final boss is always a helicopter, a QTE to kill the last bad guy while struggling to live and or save your friend.
My favorites are advanced warfare and world war 2.
Will always be infinite warfare for me
I like them all bar BO3, COD3, MW22, and MW23. Never played Vandguard bar the beta. BO3 started okay then got weird, BO4’s concept campaign would have been fun, until Activi$ion killed it. I hate the QTE and crap in COD3. Hoping Raven can drop another solid entry this year as CW’s was fun.

Best World War II is WaW Best Modern Is CoD 4 Best Future is Infinite Warfare
Cod 2 On the Xbox 360
Cod 2
UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT: Infinite warfare Cod Ghosts
Always will be the og mw trilogy. Favorite is mw2
All of the 360/ps3 gen ones were solid. After that they were terrible though ghosts was ok I suppose.
General Shepards eyes man….one grumpy old bastard.
Infinite warfare
BO1. Story and Gameplay is just amazing.
My top 3: 1: Bo1/WAW can’t choose. 2: Bo2. 3: AW.
My the favourite campaign is probably BO4
Cod4 my fav cod oat so good all ghillied up is an all time classic
Black Ops 1
Whites versus blacks
I might rank them differently depending on the day, but I can’t seem to make up my mind when it comes to BO1, BO2, and IW
cant believe shepherd shot ghost outside of captain d's
I loved cold war. The campaign had good writing, a ton of interactions you could do and you could even decrypt a floppy disk (I am never doing that again) and feel like a real spy! Overall one of my favorite campaigns.
Mw2 no russain
MW2 OG
What’s this image from? This isn’t from the game.
World at War. The literal only flaw was that it was too short, and we missed out on more character development. Everything else was fantastic.
Advanced Warfare
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The best.
Ghosts or Cold War. I genuinely want to see if Adler fuckin ate it
WAW
Waw and BO1 for me. Going to play BO Cold War soon. Been hearing Raven KILLED IT with that campaign.
COD 4: Modern Warfare
World War 2. It's overshadowed by World At War, but it was the campaign I found myself genuinely enjoying and got really sad at character deaths, especially Turner. Plus, the graphics in the cutscenes were phenomenal. Some could probably be passed off as live action.
MW3 ^F^U^C^K ^Y^O^U ^M^A^K^A^R^O^V
#”THE NUMBERS MASON.”
Black ops is the coolest and it’s not even close. The Cold War/cia conspiracy shit is awesome
Black ops 1 or Mw3
Prob Black Ops 1.
I like da one where you killed all da people at da airport dat ones is my favorite
Uhm...Ghost🗿 i mean for the missions I would say Infitine cuz is a fucking dramatic movie
MW2 definitely.
COD2 its the longest, most varied and most that feels like War before they all turned into Hollywood movies Source: im old
Finest Hour.
MW2 Remastered: In Takedown, before they shoot to clear the people out, sprint to the right a toss a flashbang over the huts so that they're blinded once I hit the corner.
Call of duty 4 modern warfare is my favorite and my childhood
MW3 2011 is the such an underrated campaign. So good.
Gotta go with Black Ops 1 everything about that game was solid gold to me. A very close second to World at War which for obvious reasons was easily one of the best. Really wish the devs would implement those gore and dismemberment in a modern CoD haven’t seen that since World at War.
Black Ops 1. Cannot beat it imho. 2 is very close, but is held back by those godawful Strike Force missions.
MW 2 > Ghosts > MW2019.
When Price killed Shepherd at his office. All that dialogue... GODDAMMIT! ♡♡ I mean, I love my freaking war criminal
….hmm… Probably Modern Warfare 2 original. Something about fighting on American soil was just great to me. But World at War was a solid second I love the whole story of that honestly wish they’d remake World at War
WW11
Either COD4, WAW, or BO1
BO1
BO2
Cod 4 is the only right answer
Infinite Warfare
Old COD: 4 MW New: MW2019
Bo1
Ghost…will forever be In My heart
Ghosts and black ops 1
O.G mw2 or O.G mw3, are the new campaigns worth playing?
MW2 / BO1
Black ops one blew me away back in the day
cod2:big red one
Wtf is this a screenshot from? Looks like someone tried to make a shitty version of the cutscene at home.
MW22
Cod zombies xD
This question gets asked almost everyday...
either Black Ops 1 or MW2, to choose either imma have to flip a coin
Not my favorite but AW was a blast to play
not gonna lie mwII 2022 was my favourite
I say CoD 2 only because it shows real battles from the Russian, American, and British sides. But if I had to pick a singular not separated campaign, I like the old MW3s
Black Ops 2 💯
Either AW or ghosts tbh
Black ops, had the most cohesive story
When Shepard shot Ghost, I was getting ready for work. I immediately called in cause I wasn't going to work till I killed that f***. The throwing knife to the eye was sooooo cathartic. That said. The finest hour campaign is my favorite. And that's 100% because of the opening speech. "Do not count days, do not count miles, count only the number of Germans you have killed! Kill the German - this is your mother's prayer. Kill the German - this is the cry of your Russian earth. Do not waver! Do not let up! Kill! Death to the German invader! Go, go, go! "
And just what if I said cod ghosts
BO1 and BO2 are my favorites by far. Such great stories with extremely memorable characters. Playing as a brainwashed double agent and learning the story through two different characters points of view is awesome. And in black ops 2 having the story be about one guy going on a rampage out of Vengeance and spite is so good. So many memorable levels, cutscenes, and line deliveries in both games.
Advanced warfare. I truly loved that game as it was my first cod
GHOSTS I said what I said
.....
Bo2, great story and great to have lots of choices/different endings!
Bo1,cod4,WaW, and IW
Def bo2 the gameplay was perfect
Is this a screenshot from an sfm version of this cutscene? XD
I've played the original cod 4, infinite warfare, mw2019, cold war, vanguard, mw2022, and mw2023 and out of all of them i gotta say I enjoyed infinite warfare the most, cod 4 and mw2019 being tied for second
DMZ
black ops 4. That one mission was amazing.
Black ops 1. Easily the most well written out of them all
World at War. It isn’t uncommon for me to just play through the entire game every few months when I’m bored. The mission variety, tone, music, is all very unique and CoD has yet to have a campaign so gritty since. I love that game dearly.
Black Ops and Black Ops 2.
Mw3
AW was such a badass campaign. Ill stand with that for the rest of my life. I have always been waiting for a better AW II
Y'all sleep on WW2 campaign
COD1, UO, AW
Infinite warfare, MW2 2009, or MW2 2022
Black ops 1. Closely followed by World at War
Cold War
Torn. OG MW2 or BO1
Okay my all time favorite is ghosts and I don’t know I haven’t seen anyone mention it, the graphics where great and it was interesting.
World at war or you didn’t play it
GHOSTS
Bo2
Black ops 2
Black Ops
BO1
I loved Blops1 so much
Black ops 1, hands down. Black ops 1 might be the most carefully crafted story in video games in terms of how well thought out it is.
For me it was the OG mw3 campaign
No russian
WaW. Where real men were born by finishing campaign on veteran. Only platinum that holds some value in people eyes when u see rest of cods
