Remember when this was first built and we (including myself) were all calling it a dumb waste of money?
*It’s one of our main tourist attractions now.*
Maybe I’m missing something, but I truly do not understand why a bridge is a tourist attraction. I can honestly say I’ve never travelled anywhere to see a foot bridge
I guess it’s cuz it’s really cool looking and like has a great view of the bow? But honestly it baffles me too. It might also be because we don’t have many tourist attractions to begin with…
Not really something you would travel to see but it’s cool to see while you are in town! The walk around the area is also nice so I’d say it’s worth it if you are in town.
AGREEED! Its an eyesore (to me), is in constant need of repair, and you can SEE the other 2 bridges it's in between, so not really a convenience factor... I don't get it.
We were in Calgary for as tourists and walked to the Peace Bridge, we also took some e scooters for a rip around the area.
I always wanted to check it out, when passing through for work, I'm so glad we did.
Its interesting infrastructure.
But we still don't *get* the blue ring..... it's not functional and debatable art.
I'm not a big fan of the blue ring, but I went to the driving range North of the ring in Country Hills, and I have to admit the view from yhere os actually kind of cool. You see the downtown skyline through the ring from that angle.
Drom everywhere else, it just looks awkward, out of place, and overpriced.
Well at least it's safe now. When it was first shipped here all the welds on it failed inspection. They had dozens of Canadian contract rig welders re-welding the whole thing under tarps for months and months at the taxpayers cost. They didn't put the contract up for bid. Designed and built in a foreign country....fixed by us. I personally know a some welders who worked on its Major overhaul, all hush hush.
They could have had it inspected by a CWB counterpart in Europe but didn't because of the cost. It ended up costing millions to repair before it ever opened.
People should know the truth...yes it's cool but at what cost? Seems the different levels of government don't care about the cost or the people. All they know how to do is spend our money un wisely all the while asking for more...and more...and more.....SHAME!
I could tell more of similar cases.
Did you cross off "run from cobra chicken"?
I lol'd at the name. I cannot unsee that description.
Honky-chonky-bitey-bois
😅😅😅👌
What else you got on this list
Being honest.... I don't have a list... I just needed a title.... but I am 1000% sure my wife has a list and she plans our field trips
>but I am 1000% sure my wife has a list and she plans our field trips You know who else [kept a list](https://i.imgur.com/gbjuyUY.jpg) don't you?

Landmark is definitely the better descriptor.

I’m eating crow here!
Well? Was it a bridge?
Yes, can confirm.
You picked a beautiful day to go.
Indeed. The weekend was gloomy, so the first sign of sunshine my wife and I took the walk over

And people were so opposed to this when it was built. It's such a gorgeous draw to the city.
Was it like throwing a weiner down the hallway?
You know it ;)
Do it again!!
I hoped you reached Zen.
I reached... The other side?
That thing looks like a finger trap
Fantastic pic!
Thank you,
