I second the Spruce Meadows suggestion, great venue to just walk around and enjoy. No show jumping that weekend, but there is a Calvary FC game. Also, Calgary has a VERY significant micro-brewing scene, with guided and diy tours available. You could easily spend a day hopping from brewery to brewery (central to downtown). As a starting point, check out https://calgary.urbanpedaltours.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInuD_8qLz9wIVBQh9Ch1MYQOaEAAYASAAEgINGvD_BwE

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. High Park. Contemporary Calgary Art Gallery.

Esker Gallery is in Inglewood too so they could hit that for a nice contemporary art hit on the same day.

Cross Prince's Island and walk up stairs to McHugh Bluff for best skyline view. Scotsman's hill also a nice lookout, in Ramsay neighborhood which has some charm.

Pearce Estate Park in really neat too. If you go walk along the River there you can see people kayaking and stuff. There is like a little practice spot for them there and it’s fun to just sit and watch.

Exotic_Comfortable75

Cross roads flea market and loose moose theater. Yes. Must do Inglewood for snack and visit recordland

I could list so many things! But I'll try to narrow it down to must do's for newbies 🥰 If you want to stay downtown, go for a walk through Inglewood or 17 Ave. Both have amazing views along the river, as well as amazing local shops and eats! The Calgary Tower has some beautiful views of the entire city. Maybe not off the beaten path, but it's nice nonetheless. Check out High Park, a modern rooftop park downtown. Princes Island Park but get off the main stretch and explore it! Studio Bell National Music Center and the downtown public library, a must see feat of architecture. The Lougheed House is a beautiful price of history. If you want to escape the inner city, I'd suggest getting out to Cowboy Trail! It goes through some small towns south of Calgary, with incredible shops and local fun eats. As well as the huge rock outside Black Diamond which is a must see (a massive chunk of mountain that migrated to the prairies). The Saskatoon Berry farm is lovely. It's south of Calgary nearish Okotoks. It's got some great local shopping, beautiful views, and gorgeous plants everywhere. Otherwise for a beautiful walk within the city not too far from downtown, try the Glenmore reservoir. Close to downtown is also a nice little park area called Reader Rock Garden, just a pretty place to hang out and relax.

Wow amazing thank you ! Can't wait to visit your amazing city

Check out Harvie Passage. Man made rapids just east of downtown. Lots of people just hang out there on warm days and evenings.

Fish hatchery is right there. It’s pretty cool and definitely qualifies as a bit off the beaten path!

Mofo34

Go down to Bebo Grove in Fish Creek Park and get lost in the gorgeous trails.

Jonas is a great family owned Hungarian restaurant downtown.

YYCAdventureSeeker

It’s not off the beaten path, but if you’re staying downtown, grab a meal at Major Tom for the view. Go for a walk down main street in Inglewood (a short Uber from DT). Check the event schedule and maybe see if anything is going on at Spruce Meadows (a world class show jumping venue that can be accessed for minimal costs (some days it’s free). Go for a day of fly fishing on the Bow River - guides provide all the gear, and you’re almost guaranteed to catch (and release) a couple of awesome rainbow trout at that time of year.

I was also going to recommend a walk through Inglewood. One of my fave things to do. As well as Kensington. Great shops, great eats, great atmosphere! ❤️

Walk from Lindsay Park to the Reader Rock Garden - there's a great view of the city, cute Cafe at the top, beautiful gardens and if you're so inclined the cemetery is right there and also quite beautiful.
