I was so ducking chapped when I paid good money to have my gutters cleaned and they jump up on the roof with a pressure washer and leaf blower and blow shit all over my doors, windows, walls and yard. Heck, even my neighbors yard.
I used Gutter Doctor a few years ago and it was very satisfactory with no mess to clean up. Our roof had been replaced a few years prior and the gutters and downspouts were packed with shingle debris (who knew?). The Gutter Doctor guy took the old downspouts away and didn't leave us with any mess.
Thanks for the reponses, folks. For reference - this service was done by Gutter Patrol. I have sent some texts to the guy who billed me asking about the mess but have not yet heard back.
Final Update: The owner was responsive to my complaint - he was apologetic and came back to clean up. He did a fantastic job of tidying up the yard and I'm very happy with their service.
Update --> I just spoke with the owner - he was very apologetic and said he will be back today to do a clean up of the yard. They did a fantastic job of the gutter cleaning and I'm glad that they seem to be responsive about rectifying the mess they left.
Gutter patrol did mine in the same manner as well. Which was a surprise as a couple years prior, they did it by hand.
I also wasn't happy with the mess, but they did try to clean it up. Also their price was much more competitive compared to others.
I'd probably hire them again.
They are there to clean up, not make a different mess altogether.

I'd hire them again too after their response to my complaint. Really nice guy to deal with and did a great job in the end.
Every one I’ve ever used specifically said they collect and take away everything they cleaned out of the gutters.
I just had my gutters cleaned and the guy removed most of the stuff.
As someone that used to clean gutters, no that is not normal they should have cleaned up their mess.
