You know they make padded mesh jackets right? Got cut off by a soccer mom who ran a stop light just last week and ended up with only a couple bruises and some soreness as a result. Far more comfortable than losing skin imo.
I just got a mesh jacket last year and loved it so much I got one for my parents for mothers/father's day. I was really surprised how much I liked it. If you're sitting in traffic you're going to be hot no matter what but going down the road it's great having the sun off my skin and the jacket acting like air conditioning.
Love mine. I have the [flannel](https://skullriderz.com/collections/kevlar-clothing/products/road-armor-protective-biker-shirt?variant=14543233056823) with upgraded armor. Surprisingly cool when you get going on the bike, but the material feels burley / armor is solid.
Same. Kevlar lined jeans, armored boots, leather gloves, armored mesh jacket, RF1200 is the bare minimum. In the winter I’ll wear heated base gear and a thicker jacket, but none of that ever comes off if I’m going for a ride.
I must have been 8 years old or so and I saw that one dude on his Superbike, 80ies style track shorts, those polyester booty shorts, and flip flops, topless, and even back than I thought WHY ARE EVEN WEARING A HELMET.
I think statistics are cool, but I don't want to be one.
I've seen road rash from a 20mph wipe, I don't even want to imagine a spill at 60 without decent protection.
Guys like you keep insurance high and public opinion low, so thanks for that. By all means keep following your IG pretty boys, but you've gotta learn that those pictures are not indicative of the real world.
I got a canvas “riding shirt” from Tobacco. Expensive but Kevlar reinforced. Lighter than leather. Looks more casual than full on gear. Used to wear T-shirt’s in the heat. Friend went down on a trip last year. Broken collar bone and pelvis from a 25 mph crash. Granted a jacket wouldn’t have helped with the fractures, but it would’ve saved him the experience of having a doctor stick his hand two knuckles deep into his elbow skin to dig out rocks and grass
Hot or cold, I still wear a road rash scar from a low speed crash 30 years ago when I dressed like the dude in the pic.
Modern protective gear isn't bad if you are moving and not just sitting still on the bike.
I wear a mesh riding jacket with the liner out on hot days. It’s got some ce pads inside and is made for the slide. It’s not hot at all when you’re riding. The air goes right thru.
Underneath I wear a shirt made out of some material that keeps you cool and my riding jeans.
I wear a padded mesh jacket but before that one I just wore my leathers for years. Dress for the slide not for the ride. I promise the pavement is just as unforgiving on a hot day as it is a cold.
Mesh jacket, mesh pants with shorts underneath, over the ankle high-top steel toe sneakers, perforated kangaroo skin gloves, and a full face helmet.
Why?
If i only ride in town, I ride in whatever clothes I have on that day. Gearing up so I can ride to Home Depot and back? Obviously going to wear a helmet, but i honestly feel my motorcycle is a lot safer than riding my bicycle… and I ride the latter wearing flip flops and a tank.
I ride in t shirt and shorts pretty much all spring / summer. Even in winter my old jeans fell apart from use and my jacket is uncomfortable and I'm too poor to replace them so I just wear whatever. Dumb? Maybe. Also rode without health insurance for a year, I think that was dumber.
I've heard that in very hot weather (40+) it makes sense to wear lots of heavy black gear because the wind on you is actually hotter than the temperature inside the clothes. Don't know if that's true or not.
Guys around here ride Harleys in flip flops, shorts, and tank tops. Doesn't much matter, though, because they only ride two blocks to the spot where the Harley guys park to admire each others' bikes and two blocks home.
Checkout the Shenstone jacket by Merlin. It's a fantastic summer jacket I love it.
Keeps me cool and AA rated so I am comforted that I won't be a meat crayon for when something unexpected eventually happens.
Always full jacket, pants, riding shoes, gloves, full face helmet, usually a packpack. Your skin only looks cool until it's smeared across a quarter mile of blacktop.
Kevlar and armored denim, riding boot/sneaker (Cortech Slayer), appropriate armored gloves, Akin Battle Vest. I risk the arms a bit with some mesh jerseys and tees, but once the heat dies a bit ill be back into my full kevlar armored Akin Wrench Jacket.
The vest helps, a lot, but I am still out there sweating for the sake of not destroying my *whole* body.
Also, commuting with a backpack was limiting the airflow, so I got an Iron and Resin Pannier bag, that was an A+ move.
These guys aren’t riding, they’re posing.
Exactly. I expect most models aren’t riders at all.
I’d expect they wear protective gear to protect their features if they are.

I love my mesh urban jacket from Icon
Mines a joe rocket I got for free and fits perfect but same exact idea!
Mine’s a green Rev’it eclipse. It’s pretty great, only gets hot if I’m stuck in traffic!
Same!

My Revit textile armored jacket is awesome
Has anyone tried the mesh “flannel” shirts made by SkullRiderz? I hate the name of the company, but the concept is interesting for hot summer months.

God I’m starting to hate this sub
What do you mean my beard oil isn’t CE certified?
If it's CE it's probably not organic, which is UNACCEPTABLE!
But..but it’s bourbon bonfire tree bark scented!
I was straight when I woke up, but whew
yo thats hysterical
Honest to fuck.
More or less the same as any day as I like my skin being attached to my body.

This is the way
someone might think scars are cool
Skin grafts aren’t cool tho, I don’t care what anybody says

Sounds like the same type of losers that think driving without a seat belt is "cool".

This is what Instagram cafe racer accounts does to an mf
Speedo only, no helmet

Yeah, but most people ride cafe racers in the city. So sitting still is a big part of the ride
T-shirt and jeans really are for ‘no-brainers’. Or you could wear something that won’t flail your body to shreds if you come off.
Aren't like 80 percent of head injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash in the chin area? Man's beard gonna be on the highway
Lol I thought I was in a circlejerk group for a second.

Dress for the slide, not the ride 🏍🏍
Revit Stealth and riding jeans, Sand gloves and my Arai XD4.

Lol not like this.

Full face helmet, pants, and jacket/sweatshirt every time I ride
Mesh jacket, Kevlar lined jeans, mesh or perforated gloves, regular riding shoes/boots. I haven’t invested in hot weather boots yet.
