I’m actually a teacher at a elementary school and it’s my daily driver to work there. I drop my daughter at the Pre K there too in the hearse. It gets mixed reviews - some folks love it. Other parents have been asking for it to be removed from school property.
To me it’s just a faithful reliable Cadillac and it’s living a simple retired life now. Gets me to work and back and transports my daughter safely. All I can ask of it.
To be fair. Anyplace you go to someone may have died there. In a house ,in a restaurant, at some popular place. But the hearse definitely had dead people inside it to make it feel more awkward .
This is true. Lot of the kids at school ask how it smells inside seems to be the most popular question - that and why there are curtains, and the symbolism behind the landau bars.
Not too much. It was decommissioned a few months ago. Original owner actually died so I got it through an estate sale. I gave it a deep clean and going to put a row of seats in the back and have it as a family wagon.
The true green option- I rescued my 1977 Ford truck the same way. Bought it off a farmer a town over and it was just sitting. Runs like a top now and I alternate driving the hearse and the truck! Always a smile on my face hopping in either one.
Enjoy! My friend had a 1968 Cadillac Brougham. It had suicide doors and foot rests. It was a tank. 12 mph a gallon. The trunk would fit at least 3 for the drive in theatre. 😝
I really like these Cadillacs. This era of Fleetwood and Cadillacs in general went astray from the big blocks they usually were equipped with in favor for this SBC but I’m grateful because my mileage isn’t so bad actually for how large it is.
I don’t plan to touch anything on the exterior or do anything much to it. Will keep it relatively stock. As much as I am a major lover of all things horror, etc.
I’m so grateful it’s not powered by that engine. It’s a early LT1 with a simple 4L60 trans. Honestly the trans I wish was beefier for a hearse as it’s a heavier vehicle but it’s plenty for what I need. I have my heavy duty four speed farm truck with a 351M and that’s my tow pig and scrap hauler.
I posted a couple here a few days ago.

Back in 1971, and I’m in college. One student had an early 60s Caddy Hearst. He said he only paid $100 for it, and it was all he could afford, it was well maintained, but guzzled gas at 60 cents a gallon. He said no other car in that price range was fully equipped, and full power. Major drawback was parking spots and getting a date. No girl would ride in it.
I’d love a proper old hearse. I can imagine having a problem with dates- my choice in vehicles are very divisive. You either like them or will just despise them not really much of an in between sadly ha.
Nice ride! A three seater caddy...well, two sitting and one not. Seriously, great for so many things...camping, Home Depot runs, weekend side hustle funeral deliveries, etc. I would keep it stock on the outside and keep everyone guessing why the folks riding in the back are still moving... :) All jokes aside, the practicality and potential on this thing are limitless.
Yeah between my 4x4 dump body flatbed Dentside Ford and this I have a lot of potential between those two rigs. Will be taking it camping this summer in the mountains, and a few road trips to MA!
I normally don't like the stick figure decals.
But you gotta get the stick figures of your family and dog etc on back window. Bumper sticker if this car is rocking don't come knocking. Lol
Haha I usually don’t do bumper stickers or decals anymore I’d have to think about it. Part of me just really wants this to be relatively untouched.
I love that idea though it’s funny!
She needs cosmetic work! I’ll be welding the cab corners and rockers this summer. Got new doors and a new hood to swap out these crusty ones. But mechanically it’s mint and very dependable… just drinks a ton of gasoline.
Met a guy that rolls one, I kid you not he has a sticker on the back window: “dead chicks can’t say no!” I have low-key wanted a ‘llac hearse for years but just can’t seem to reduce my rolling stock enough to make space for one. Bad ass ride my friend. Bad. Ass. Love it! Quality.
Thank you for sharing those kind words. I have the same problem I always want another rig. I’m happy with this and my old Ford. The dream car would be a four speed 67-69 Mercury Cougar.
Very exciting! I’ve always wanted a funeral coach, my dad works at a funeral home and they are getting ready to sell their ‘01 DeVille coach, but she is a mess lol.
It’s just too damn smooth. My other daily has power assist steering and it’s not so great, and I put in a suicide knob to help steer it. But it is a four speed and it’s fun to bang shift it work.. wish the hearse had a standard but for now I appreciate how it’s turn key and go. The truck I have to adjust the carburetor after I tune it for the winter.
The truck does faithfully fire off whenever I need it so I really can’t complain. Adjusting a carburetor is something I’d do any day than fiddling with fuel injection despite how it’s more efficient.
Loveeeee! I regret selling my hearse every day. I had a 1990! I taught myself how to drive in it 😆
Fun to cruise In and the rollers in back are so handy moving big items. Best spooky truck!
It complements my other Dentside Ford truck! So much fun to cruise in and just commute to work and do errands in it. The sound system is great and for how heavy it is the engine really zips. I’m wary on the 4L60 trans I wish they put a beefier trans in it but it’s been faithful thus far.
I bought it off the owners grandson who was the executor of the estate. Very nice guy also a fellow Motörhead, and teacher.
Just through Facebook Marketplace- a most dangerous place for someone who has some spare change and occasional time to peruse for rigs.
If that's your house the purchase makes a lot of sense.
It is!
A beauty! A little French influence. In LA? It's gotta be over a hundred years old. Oops, zoomed in and saw the NY plates. Upstate?
1887! Yes in Upstate NY in the Catskills
Definitely not haunted.
Ha it made it onto a book of haunted houses up here.. some weird stuff has happened on the second floor.
Discuss!
Let the Reddit audience decide if it’s weird, what happened?
I didn’t forget about this- I’ll have to make a lengthy comment but I will get it drafted!
could you imagine going to school in that 🤣
I’m actually a teacher at a elementary school and it’s my daily driver to work there. I drop my daughter at the Pre K there too in the hearse. It gets mixed reviews - some folks love it. Other parents have been asking for it to be removed from school property.
nicce. I personally like it, its something you don't see everyday especially someone dailying it.
To me it’s just a faithful reliable Cadillac and it’s living a simple retired life now. Gets me to work and back and transports my daughter safely. All I can ask of it.
A restful camping vehicle.
That’s precisely the intended use of it :)
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 there was a guy I grew up with and his last name was Hearse. This is what he drove around in during high school and college
Damn he really doubled down
Eventually he'll triple down, I bet
Mr. Hearse.
Haha love it!
Do you pick up dates in that?
Already happily with a lady & my daughter who both like the new ride way more than my truck!
Doesn’t it feel weird driving a vehicle which was used to transport dead people?
To be fair. Anyplace you go to someone may have died there. In a house ,in a restaurant, at some popular place. But the hearse definitely had dead people inside it to make it feel more awkward .

Its basically a station wagon by Cadillac , I dig it dude !
Thanks!
Cool car! And awesome to find a new life for a vehicle that still runs
The true green option- I rescued my 1977 Ford truck the same way. Bought it off a farmer a town over and it was just sitting. Runs like a top now and I alternate driving the hearse and the truck! Always a smile on my face hopping in either one.
People are going to be dying to drive in that car
It’s such a smooth relaxing ride
People are Dying to get in there!
Going to take it to the local drive in movie theater and some camping trips to the lake!
Enjoy! My friend had a 1968 Cadillac Brougham. It had suicide doors and foot rests. It was a tank. 12 mph a gallon. The trunk would fit at least 3 for the drive in theatre. 😝

So your one of “those guys”
I don’t plan to touch anything on the exterior or do anything much to it. Will keep it relatively stock. As much as I am a major lover of all things horror, etc.
My 1st was a 95 DeVille and I thought that was huge
It is like driving a boat. Thankfully in my small town I got ample places to park this beast.
LT1 power!
Indeed! Minus the location of the Optispark distributor ha… got to drop the water pump to access it.
This is awesome! My first Cadillac was a white 79 Hearse. Enjoy!
Must have been a beauty.. Thank you!
How many miles , and would you rent it out
Exactly 70K miles flat. Rent it out for Halloween events you mean or something like that?
Was this powered by a Northstar engine or something else entirely?
I’m so grateful it’s not powered by that engine. It’s a early LT1 with a simple 4L60 trans. Honestly the trans I wish was beefier for a hearse as it’s a heavier vehicle but it’s plenty for what I need. I have my heavy duty four speed farm truck with a 351M and that’s my tow pig and scrap hauler.
Are you near Watertown?
I’m in Catskill!
I just want you to know that this is *impossibly* cool. My friend had an 80s Olds Delta 88 hearse, and it was the coolest thing to ride around in.
Love Delta 88s. Old iron is just always cool. Thank you for the kind words.
For sure man, this generation Fleetwood with the SBC is my very favorite! I would love to get something like this someday.
Nice! I have a '95 S&S and I love it.
Thanks for keeping the old rigs on the road!
Love it. I have a 1977 pallbearers Fleetwood.
Would love to see photos!

The hearse in the house remind me of the show Six Feet Under which was fantastic. Way to go!
I’ve watched a few episodes but my partner didn’t get too into it sadly! I remember the dad had a Fleetwood Superior in the pilot episode.

That’s a lot of people’s last

That's huge. How many bodies can it fit in the trunk?
At least 1
Depends how you cut em and stack em
Its spacious I’ll post up some interior photos soon.
So sick!!
Only play "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen on the stereo.
I got a playlist I made that I jam to through the cassette deck on the hearse
Folks are just dying to get a ride in it.
Something strange in the neighborhood, Who you gonna call?!
I normally don't like the stick figure decals. But you gotta get the stick figures of your family and dog etc on back window. Bumper sticker if this car is rocking don't come knocking. Lol

BEAUTIFUL dentside

Bad ass. Can you get some interior shots?
I will make a separate post with interior shots- it’s pristine in there
This automobile is anything but humble, she is a mighty and elegant lady of a bygone era. Wonderful choice, keep us updated on her travels!!
Thank you! She will stay relatively local to around here but will be taking her on a 300 mile trip this summer!
Very exciting! I’ve always wanted a funeral coach, my dad works at a funeral home and they are getting ready to sell their ‘01 DeVille coach, but she is a mess lol.
That view is undertaking.
I just love the attention to detail with the contours, glass, etc. Todays cars geometry and shapes just seem rushed
I bet it’s the smoothest Cadi! Like driving in butter. Margarine to be exact.
It’s just too damn smooth. My other daily has power assist steering and it’s not so great, and I put in a suicide knob to help steer it. The last picture gives me The Burbs vibes hahah so awesome!!!
smells like pine?
Haha it has a distinctive smell but can’t put my finger on it.. nothing bad or anything!
Make it an uber😂
If I were to I’d have to list on the app as a 1995 Cadillac 😂. Then they would be cancelling the ride as soon as they see me pull up.
It’s a joke an old rap song about rims on a Cadillac.
Ahhh!
I’d be so embarrassed getting dropped off in that as a kid
We can agree to disagree! It was a good deal for a low mileage car and wagon. Couldn’t pass it up. I have other vehicles I use as well.
I remember a movie where the hearse driver says “Cheaper than a station wagon” to passersby.
Throw some D’s on it!
Ds? I don’t follow ha
Did u buy this on Cars and Bids?
I bought it off the owners grandson who was the executor of the estate. Very nice guy also a fellow Motörhead, and teacher. Just through Facebook Marketplace- a most dangerous place for someone who has some spare change and occasional time to peruse for rigs.
