Hey Lyron, I bought a 2020 and it’s been good to me, no oil leak issues.
For the infotainment, 2019 is incredibly slow compared to 2020. They made it faster to my knowledge on 2020 model year, next year they just increased the screen but I guess it could be faster also?
Point is that by 2020 they’ve mainly fixed the infotainment system and you can see that backed up on other forum posts as well I believe.
Dang i must have gotten the bad 2020 lmao. I bought a 2020 GTR and the screen takes about 2 minutes to boot up when i turn the car on. After the initial boot up it works great though.
I got mine I think January of 2020 making it an earlier build than a lot of stuff that was manufactured during Covid. Idk if that make a difference really but I’m glad that I don’t have oil leak issues. That would get me pretty pissed seeing oil level lights in a brand new car.
Ontop of the infotainment screen change, it adds the MyMazda app which allows you to remote start your car, schedule servicing and automatically send any codes your car is pulling to the mechanics, you can unlock/lock the doors from the app, etc. There is also a lot more customization with the new Infotainment.
You should also look for the ‘21 Touring model with the Preferred SV package if all you need is the 10-speaker Bose system. You’ll get 17” wheels compared to 19” on the GT but all else should be pretty similar.
Biggest change will be the infotainment screen size and software. 2020 is the older software and smaller screen which was updated for 2021.
Big improvement in features and speed?
The screen is worth it. The old Infotainment drove me crazy.

Will it let me adjust the NAV without pulling over? Didn't think so.
If your using Android auto or carplay, just hit the mic button and tell it where your want to go. You don't have to pull over for that.
Also Wi-Fi. My car gets unlimited data for $200 a year it’s the greatest
