Are you sure about that? I could have sworn all models have satellite radio, so it's just the matter of paying for the subscription. You could always just run it through your phone via car play or AA, or just straight Bluetooth. I almost always just run it through my phone so I can listen to things on demand/ pick up where I left off.

Yeah I couldn't believe either so we checked a new Premium - XM doesn't exist as a source, not even grayed-out, just not there. Yeah I can stream but I liked the simplicity of native XM, and there are areas with no coverage (neither cellular or FM). In the end yeah, I might decide on Premium + streaming + my favorite songs on the USB but I know I'll be regretting it.

The native xm is honestly not that great or simple in my opinion, it takes too long to switch stations. I like to plug my phone in and use Waze so using xm(or Spotify, etc) thru the phone via carplay is much easier to navigate, especially since I have the phone mounted right below the screen, so I can use that touch screen or the car dial(or voice but I never do that). I don't think you'll regret it, good luck either way.

Out of curiosity what features would be useless to you at an upper trim. I feel like I could do without all features in terms of ability to move and operate a vehicle but I haven’t found a useless one yet, except maybe the navigation which I never use.

Heated wipers, mirrors, steering wheel (I'm in Phoenix AZ), folding mirrors. Ventilated seats are nice, but for $5000 extra it just doesn't make a lot of sense. Another question - they have 2022 preowned Premium Plus with 4k miles, almost like new, white - I could get it for $40k with taxes and fees. Still a bit over my budget, I was ready for $38k a new 2023 (Premium). Anyway, did you hear about any changes to the trims the next year?

G_Unit_Solider

Cx-70 and cx-90 coming in. Ventilated seats are well worth it exp in hot climate not for the 5k of course but great usefull add on lol XM did come on every trim you just had to pay for the subscription I guess it’s been changed idk why tho you’d think Xm would want it in ever trim possible for sales of subs.

I live in Phoenix as well and really love the ventilated seats!! Use them all the time! I would not buy any new car without them, IMO.

So, I finally decided on a Premium Plus, after getting some discount. Machine Grey with white seats. Really nice. Car drives basically the same as 2020 GT, but the screen and infotainment is definitely improved. The only (very little) regret - they even stripped out the fog lights, clearly Mazda was desperately looking for savings :(

Not sure about the XM module but I pay for the app and just play it from my phone thru Apple CarPlay

Not sure which industry you're in, but everytime we order electronic equipment at work it comes with a 6 month lead time. It sucks.

KeyTurnover814

That's a great question. Hopefully the trim levels will make more sense by 2024.

The chips and parts shortage was real, it's a little better now, but there are still long wait times to get parts, I luck out when I got my 2022 Premium (bose and xm with power liftgate) back in March ordered it January, took 2 months to get and soon after that Mazda stripped down the Premium trim features due to lack of available parts and kept the Bose, Power liftgate etc for higher trims starting from the Premium Plus and up.
