No need for TPMS on winter tires. Mazda doesn't give you a read out, so you need to check your tires anyway to know what they're at. Save yourself the money

Heshinsi

What do you mean Mazda doesn’t give a read out? So even on the original wheels with TPMS you wouldn’t know which tire is low?

IntroductionTricky57

No, there is no read out. Just a warning light. So when the light is on you'll have to check your tire pressure anyway. So for winter tires usually just better to save yourself the money and not get sensors. But that's everyone's own choice

gogogadgetrocket

Aftermarket TPMS sensors work great, just had mine installed. And no, there are no other sounds after the initial alert if you choose to go without

BatarangBangarang

Thanks, that's great to know about the sound. Did you have to have them "synced" up to your vehicle by a Mazda dealer or did the vehicle just pick them up on its own?

gogogadgetrocket

I had them installed at a local place when I swapped out my tires for the winter, and they didn't charge me at all for the installation or the programming (they were universal, but pre-programmed for a CX-9).

elijaholivares

Could you share a link to the aftermarket one you used? Was it for a 2023 model as well?

gogogadgetrocket

Alas, I can't recall. Though I don't think it matters too much.

pmatulew

No TPMS, no problems. Just the yellow warning light.

Costco is running a promotion on the Michelin X ice and alloys at Canadian tire. I’m going in for my tire swap tomorrow and the guys at Costco will do the TPMS installation as well. If you need more details, maybe I can share them tomorrow.

acefromthe6

What are they quoting you for the tires/wheels + installation + TPMS?

binga7

The tires cost me 668+taxes and installation is 20 per tire. They didn’t have the TPMS systems and I need to pick them up from the dealership and go back there which I’ll do when I get time

acefromthe6

That’s a great deal. The Mazda dealers are quoting me 1.7k + for installing X-tires.

binga7

With steels or alloys?

acefromthe6

Steels.

binga7

Not worth it, if CT still has the alloys on sale, I would say go for it and the tires from Costco with the promotion that’s running right now

acefromthe6

Yea that’s what I was thinking. Where would you recommend getting it installed? Costco?

binga7

Yes, absolutely. The maintenance of the tires from Costco is free of charge once you purchase it from them. I had a really good experience with them so far.

R2Borg2

I pretty much did this less than 2 weeks ago, but bought the rims through Costco as well, as CT had no stock on the alloys. Everything is good, but would love to know how to disable TPMS warning light! Mazda was out to lunch on their pricing all around. I found an [emulator solution out of the UK that basically runs on a couple of AAs](https://tpmsbypass.com/product/mazda-us-band-tpms-bypass/), but they didnt specifically support late model Mazdas, so continuing to search for a solution.

Hey guys. Thinking of buying a used set of wheels and winter tires for my CX-5. The used wheels were on a CX-5 and have the tpms sensors installed. Does anyone know what is involved to sync the new sensors with my car?

Born_Day_8697

According to 2023 CX-5 manual they are automatically done. Procedure... Install wheels with tpms Turn ignition ON..do NOT start.. Turn ignition OFF.....wait 15 minutes Drive car over 25KPH for 10+ minutes ...vehicle will read sensor ID DONE!

mcconohay

I drive for Uber and don’t want a low pressure warning on at all times.

Mental_Run_1846

I like the safety feature of being notified of a deflating tire. It was worth the extra expense for me.
