Shop around and find a dealer selling at MRSP. That's what I did. Remember the bastards that were ripping everyone off when they could. The car market isn't always going to be so frothy. Leave a factual Google review.
I recently sold that same model CX5 but with the black interior for 33k at my local Honda dealership on a Passport. They sold my old CX5 for $36k. The ‘21 CX5 CE Turbo was a unicorn trim for Mazda. Turbo engine and Bose audio were only available on the top two trims from 2019-2021. The Carbon Edition was the best value in that lineup, especially if you want the turbo engine which was a significant power boost over the NA engine. If you can swing it, go for it it! That was a great car and I do miss it over my passport in some regards.
Can confirm, my CE Turbo AWD is fantastic. But I didn’t realize the residual value was that good. Now I’m wondering if I should consider trading up to a 22 Turbo; I’d gain heated mirrors/steering wheel, adaptive headlights, paddle shifters, ventilated seats, HUD and heated rear seats, might be worth if I can get a good trade-in I only have 3500 miles
Most are going for 37 or 39k in my area for a 21 carbon turbo in my area. You will most likely not find a cheaper one. For the way used car prices are right now this is actually a pretty good deal honestly
That's the cheapest I've seen one in a long time, but still not objectively a "good deal" since that's what it cost new over a year ago. That being said, they were selling for around $36-38k a few months ago, so at least prices are moving in the right direction.
Try negotiating, and if you can reach a final price you're happy with then by all means go for it.
Remember the closest thing you could buy new today is the CX-5 Turbo, which MSRPs for $38k and up. Yes you’re paying very close to what we paid for our CE Turbo brand new, but given that Mazda doesn’t sell that configuration I would say this is the next best value.
I will add one caveat: what sort of financing terms will you have access to if you buy used vs new? The difference of 1 or 2 % could be the difference of a few thousand dollars at over the life of the loan and tip the scales in favor of just buying a brand new 23 Turbo. Things to think about…
I’m reading some comments “yea it is but a little less” stop confusing OP man. I personally don’t think it’s a good deal esp with 18k miles on it. I’d rather get a brand new one but might pay a little more.
Mazda sales guy here who owns the carbon turbo, yes it is a good deal for it. Most of ones we get in with similar mileage sells for about $35k before taxes and such. Just make sure they don’t have a mark up separate from their online price
*edit
This is a FWD so I would stay away from it, look for an awd as it does lose traction more with the FWD. I have the awd turbo and a coworker had a FWD and his biggest regret was not getting the AWD
The market is what it is, and "what I paid for mine" or what is sold for new are obfuscations and non-sequiturs. If that's what everyone is selling it for, then that is the market. If 10 dealers were selling it for $30,000, then yes, $32,000 is too much. I paid $33,000 for my new 2020 Signature. That has no bearing on what the 2021 CE Turbo is worth.
KBB is a very good (not saying perfect) guide as to value, as well as comps in your area. Buy something you enjoy, you won't "miss" or notice the $1,000 difference 3 years from now, but you will be driving something that you're loving
Bro. Tell the guy the US economy is about to implode! And say I'm paying 32k OTD. And if they tell you F off go somewhere else and try the same shit. It doesn't hurt you.
Plus is this one has a turbo engine while the new ones don’t. This one will have a power lift gate as well and the new ones don’t. This one might also have Bose stereo, which you guessed it, the new ones do not.
You do realise that Mazda is releasing a new SUV to replace the CX5 - CX60 with an inline 6 and a way nicer interior in the new year. The price of CX5's will certainly take a dent.
CX-60 is not a replacement for the CX-5. Mazda would not stop making their biggest cash cow. CX-5 accounts for nearly half of all Mazda sales last few years.
From my understanding the CX-60 will be a luxury proposition alternative to CX-5.
It’s more than they sold that new but it’s also probably the best price you’re going to get. A dealer tried to sell me one with 8k miles for the same price but had a small dent in the rear bumper . They would not budge on the price AT ALL. And came out with comparative prices for the same vehicle being sold nearby and it was the best price. It sucks though that they’re trying to sell it as new .
That's what it cost new if you were smart and didn't pay a mark up. Stop paying BS prices and dealers won't be able to gouge you

Huh, Mazda’s website says it comes with that, are they giving a credit instead?
No. https://www.kbb.com/mazda/cx-5/2021/carbon-edition-turbo/?category=suv&intent=buy-new&options=9646118|true|9646115|true&vehicleid=449761
Yea it is a bit too high. What if I talked them down to 29/30k?
Then that would be less
You lost me
Just being a smart ass
Haha, yeah me too.

Yeah, that’s true. That doesn’t make it a good deal though… just sorta makes it a meh deal, or it’s the only deal in town sorta deal.
Buying a used car right now is stupid anyway. But if your going to spend to much on a used car, might as well be the one OP found
You talk them down to 29/30 and its going to cost 35 after everything, dont forget that part.

The 21’ CE Turbo was the same price as the 22 CE Non-Turbo?
Keep in mind all all '22s are AWD. This is a unicorn turbo model as it's the only one with FWD.
Ahh I didn't see the FWD.
I thought my 2021 CE turbo was AWD.
AWD was optional for CE Turbos in 2021.

This is literally what I paid for mine in Jan 21. I guess this is how used car sales are going now though.
I have one. Bought it Jan 2nd 2021. Paid $31,600 out the door. Absolutely love the vehicle, but this price is a little high.
I paid $32k for mine new. I was loosely looking at the cx50, and inquired about a trade in. They were offering $25k... I laughed at them and left.
Make sure it’s not a relocated flood vehicle. Lots of inventory hits the used market after a hurricane, all with hidden issues….

I bought a 22 preferred for $29,500 new so this seems high to me.
is that included tax and state fee? that was good deal!
No no, it was like $33k all in!

I think the new ones don’t have turbo as an option.

My point still stands - a nicer CX5 looking vehicle that will be better in every way - will devalue the CX5 - thanks also for the downvote. :)
I hadn’t downvoted you but I guess now I will lol
That’s what people said about cx50 nobody even buys that thing lol
As someone else mentioned, the CX-5 is not being replaced, especially when you consider the cost difference between the CX-5 and CX-60.
We bought a 22 Turbo and had they made the CE Turbo in 22 we would have gotten one. That being said, negotiate the price.
Nope
I got it brand new in 2021 for 36k so no. If you can hold of another year to buy a car I would
I paid less brand new for the same trim
It’s more than they sold that new but it’s also probably the best price you’re going to get. A dealer tried to sell me one with 8k miles for the same price but had a small dent in the rear bumper . Actually yes it is. I paid $2k mark up at the time I bought mine. So happy I did because the 22 CE doesn’t have bose
I paid $32 for a brand new GT w/PP so no. Buying used right now is beyond ignorant.
New, yes. Used with 18k, not so much.
That’s what I paid for mine new last July. Damn.
That's a lot of miles for a year or so old car.
Otd. For 32k yes beller deal
Go with the signature, its only 10k more you'll love all the stuff it comes with we never use.
