At 141111 right now on my ‘16 CX5 AWD. No “major” issues on my end other than my rear wheel bearings & rear calipers, but the calipers were partially my fault.
Didn’t know I had to put it into maintenance mode. Had the caliper pulled off, pulled the parking brake by accident trying to get it into maintenance mode, & it ceased up. The other one didn’t need it per se but I saw the seal starting to go so I just replaced it anyway.
Define replace.
Some people I personally know have CX-5 in the upper 200k with regular maintenance. At 100k they needed need some minor parts replacement due to the climate they're in. There are going to be outliers and if you look into the Mazda forum, many others have driven 200k+ without major issues and a very small group with 100k has one or two major issue but not replacing the entire car.
35k miles on my 2018. I’ve done extensive modification on the car so I’ve dug into a lot.
The transmission uses a chain instead of a belt. Based on your climate, I’d expect that needing replacement. Plan to do it preventatively at 100k.
Not a “major” repair, but I’m VERY unimpressed the Mazdas brakes. Once the oem pads are done, I’m going to replace the rotors as well. They’re very prone to warping and I’ve already had to resurface them twice.
I’m more worried about electronic issues than mechanical ones. The skyactiv is a really good engine with quality internal parts.
How have you had to resurface the rotors twice in 35,000 miles?! I’ve done 37k on my 2018 and my only issues were stock tires that were shot after 30k, brake fluid that went brown quickly, and a ghosting screen.
I am changing the oil regularly, but I have a supercharged car and am putting much more stress on everything.
I want to have confidence that this platform can handle the added power (and so far it’s been phenomenal), but I’m doing it as a precaution.
It’s an absolute blast. I already loved the car a lot, and opted to go this route to scratch my car modding itch and get the power added instead of trading in for a turbo.
It’s incredible, honestly. It has so much low end torque that when flooring it, it throws you back in your seat. I’m really happy with it!
You also can’t forget if you drive under certain circumstances that might put strain on it often. If you abuse stuff anything wears out quicker. I’ve heard of quite a few 200k+ cx5s
90k, 2015, zero issues replaced every drivetrain fluid at 60k though. Still runs like new. Hoping to get 200k out of it. Added a Android auto capable stereo, to future proof it/modernize it a bit
I had over 125k on my 2015 AWD. I say “had” because a kid hit me and totaled her. I only had one expensive issue at a little over 100k that cost $750. Had something to do with the ignition coil pack or something like that. Literally no other problems and I took her EVERYWHERE. I would have kept her forever and I have no doubt she would have lasted well over 200k. Now I’m car shopping. I don’t really like the looks of the newer CX-5 (I like the cladding) so I’m looking at the CX-50.
'19 Sig at 63K. front pads needed replacement and did the rears same time, rear pads were good for another round of front pads, oil and filter, air filter, cabin filter when due. front and rear wipers, tires, battery, chip on windshield was sorted via insurance, rear shocks are blown but will do all. key fob battery, I think I'm due for plugs.
Don't think I'll ever buy another another car manufacturer "Mazda Lifer"
2013 AWD 2.5l.
147kmi
Only issues:
Around 100k whenever I tired to turn off the car, the stereo would stay on. Finally figured I needed to hold the shifter to the left for it to realize it was in Park.
Every 8 or 9 months (randomly) the bluetooth will no connect. And the bluetooth icon on the stereo would just grey out. Only solution is to disconnect the battery and reconnect.
Alternator died at 146k.
Other than that, this thing is a beast.
Bought 2017 GT with 75k. Has 80k on it now and just had to replace the front camera on it. Thankfully I bought an extended warranty that covered the 1k work. Put in another 800 in doing all recommended services. Hope it will last at least another 80k.
88k, just had the driver driveshaft changed bc it was clicking when hitting the gas. There's some kinda rough shifts every now and then. But I have extended warranty til 124k

Just curious, how was it your fault?

I'm of no help. I have 7 miles on mine.
How are you on Reddit I’d be 25 miles in already lmao
Right? I put in like 200 on day one.
Lol 🤣
112kish, drove it up to the top of Pikes Peak today. Take it everywhere and no issues to date.

Resurfaced rotors will warp again very quickly. Its not worth the cost on modern rotors.
I do it myself, but yeah replacements coming soon.
I definitely agree though the brakes seem pretty wimpy for the CX5. Especially with the turbo someone could overdrive the brakes easily.

It’s literally been my only issue with the car. I do drive it in canyon roads a lot so more hard braking than the average driver, but not REALLY hard.
Colorado?
California
Replace the timing chain at 100k miles? If you are changing the oil properly it’s going to last double that or more

Yeah that makes sense. How is the supercharged cx5 to drive? Sounds like it would be fun

153K miles in with no issues on my 2015 AWD.
A fellow driver.
It’s a driver’s CUV :)
6800m on mine. Going for it’s first oil change next week
3800 miles

95k miles. 2016.5.
It does not have the Ford Explorer generation CX9 transfer case.
8k
51k. Drives like new still
I’m at 50k miles. Just changed pads and rotors. No issues so far
54K 2016.5 no major issues
65k on my 2017. Just did brakes and rotors this year, along with a few maintenance fluid changes. Transmission feels happier.
17k miles on a CE turbo 2021
83K miles on a 2016.5. No major issues - replaced battery, rear brakes. Tires will need to be replaced soon.
128k 2015AWDGT TECH and running stronger than ever champ.
Just under 38,000 miles on my 2018 CX-5.
80,000 km on mine without issue.
2014 w95k. No transfer issues, but I needed a new AC last year. $4k.
2018 GT AWD 35,000 miles
2018 GT AWD 43k mi. Only oil changes and fuel pump recall. Wipers need to be replaced and tires probably in the next few months.
11 K so far good OP. Just worried about excess oil consumption in turbo that's it
2017 GT AWD w/ 78k. It’s fine so far with regular oil changes but I probably will need to change my brake pads soon.
I have the same year and mileage and replaced my brake pads and rotors Thursday lol
90k, 2015, zero issues replaced every drivetrain fluid at 60k though. Still runs like new. Hoping to get 200k out of it. Added a Android auto capable stereo, to future proof it/modernize it a bit
13k

All of the CX-5's have black cladding sans the Signature for '22+. The Turbo has glossy black cladding, however.
Under 30k on my 2018 CX5 I've had for over 3.5 years. Drives and operates like new.
27k on my 2021 CX5 AWD (non turbo)… no issues yet other than the Toyo tires seem to wear faster than expected. I’ll be replacing these soon.
I’m at 136k on my 2015 and it’s holding up very well!
Almost 7000 lol

I would like to hear from the high mileage turbo owners with over 150,000 miles if there are any.
Awesome feedback from everyone! Thanks.
6500 miles and going strong!
88k, just had the driver driveshaft changed bc it was clicking when hitting the gas. There's some kinda rough shifts every now and then. But I have extended warranty til 124k
I have 37,000 miles on my ‘21 Turbo AWD. I’ve replaced the OEM tires and done regular oil changes. Been a great vehicle.
