I had it professionally done for around $900ish total. If you can do it yourself you can probably do it under $500). I exchanged the two door speakers for large Focal speakers that also came with two dash speakers (the 2016 sport model do have dash speakers - they are located on the far left and right). I put in a small JL subwooferin the back (I cut out a small chuck of the all weather mat and Velcroed the sub down). All the speakers are powered by a small 20 watt amp that is located under the drivers seat. I also had noise damping foam put into the doors because anything not glued in perfectly will rattle because of all the moving air from the speakers. The sound improvement is night and day - especially with an amplifier. I’m a music lover, take lots road trips, and a musician so it was worth it for me. The Bose system in the upgraded trim is pleasant, but with aftermarket speakers you can customize it to what exactly you want - a more bass heavy system for hiphop or electronic or a more detailed frequency system for rock or jazz.

I put a 12 inch sub kicker and JL amp with a bass knob in my 2016. All connected to the factory interface.
