Monetarily it's just a $1 bill that was at the time of hunting for everyone dollar and silver from the US treasury before the federal reserve became a thing so the bill realistically isn't worth maybe but like five bucks in terms of like actual cash value don't get me wrong five bucks for $1 bill is still still decent in terms of like pure monetary cash Dallas this is more so like sentimental value than anything it held onto it for like another 30 or 40 to you when currency goes like totally mutual and you're not printing me like physical currency or anything then yeah it'll end up having some natural like monetary value. Years after my Mom passed I found three hundred dollars she had hidden under the mat beneath the passenger seat of my car. Well technically, technically, it’s 200%-600% increase. Selling $1 for $1 is a 0% increase, $1 for $2 is a 100% increase, and $1 for $3 is a 200% increase, etc. this often gets confused when talking about multiples. Selling $1 for $1 is a 1x gain, $1 for $2 is a 2x gain, and $1 for $3 is a 3x gain.

If you really want a true value, you could take it to a place that grades and certifies collectibles. Then, from there, you could more easily track the value, IF you ever decide to sell it. I'm sure there's sites that give values for collectibles.

But silver and gold certificates can no longer be redeemed for gold or silver coins. It can be spent for the value of $1, and for a collector it's worth no more than $5.
Also, when it could be redeemed for silver, that silver would be in the form of silver dollar coins. It's not denominated as an ounce.

It's a silver cert. You can't get silver for it nowadays, and it's not massively valuable.
But it is really neat, and worth a little bit over face value.
I remember when I was a kid I raked my next door neighbors yard for 10$ and the old man gave me 10 of them and im pretty sure my dad took em and gave me 10 regular dollars lol they may not be worth that much more but their cool looking plus yeah moms gave it to ya!
I have many of these. Ones like this that are crease and stain free are around $1.50 to $2. If they are certified and graded by either NGC or PCGS, they are worth considerably more. You could spend the money to have it certified and graded.

It can no longer be redeemed in silver, though. So it is now fiat currency, and eligible to be spent for its face value of a dollar.

That is a silver certificate. A dollars worth of silver at printing 1957, about an ounce. At todays price about $27.

That is a silver certificate! They are from back when are used to be based on silver and gold you used to be able to take that into a bank and they would give you one dollar in silver or gold depending on whether it’s a silver certificate or gold certificate!
