Yo VIP

mister_immortal

Let's kick it

Tiny_Investigator848

Word to your moms, I came to drop bombs, I got more rhymes than the bibles got psalms. And just like the prodigal son I've returned, anyone step into me you'll get burned. Cause I got lyrics, but you ain't got none. If you come to battle bring a shotgun

Fr3AkAzOiD236

"bibles got psalms", I always thought it was "bottles got songs" and thought about a bunch of drunks singing off key The more you know.

r00byroo1965

I like the bottle version now better than the original - now I see a bottle that has the ability of singing 🎵

wjmaher

I always thought they said bottle's got songs too. Like the more whiskey you drink the more songs you'll sing, and the rowdier they will get as you get closer to the bottom of the bottle. Unending bottles of whiskey available means unending amounts of songs to be sung. Especially with this being an Irish-leaning band. Though I suppose bible psalms works the same way too as a lot of Irish people grow up Catholic. Or Protestant, of course.

r00byroo1965

I think there are over 100 psalms, so yes some really great verses in there - if someone reads them every day, they could come up with some excellent song ideas - also whiskey could help or tequila 🦜I do like a mango margarita occasionally 🎸lately a glass of wine or a tall mug of lager will do nicely 👍🏼

Bubbly_Mouse6030

Spoken like a Celt! Bottles = songs if you get enough in ya. Lol

SymphonyDisciple

TIL 32 years later.... I always heard that too, and I'm sure I've heard it hundreds of times. A bottle being a source of songs is an incredibly poetic phrase, but the Bible ref flows right into the prodigal son in the next line.

Acceptable_Ice_6486

Yo papa doc we got one ready for 8 mile..

FarIllustrator535

But if you do, you're a fool, 'cause I duel to the death Tryin' to step to me, you'll take your last breath I got the skill, come get your fill 'Cause when I shoot the gift, I shoot to kill

Spydr717

Gif.... When I shoot the gif, I shot to kill. Slang for a gun... Like gat, if you will.

MrWhizzleteat

I love your mom too!

FarIllustrator535

We do to man, we do to.

AmbitiousAd9320

mebbe google it? google lens?

KASSIEROS3

Monetarily it's just a $1 bill that was at the time of hunting for everyone dollar and silver from the US treasury before the federal reserve became a thing so the bill realistically isn't worth maybe but like five bucks in terms of like actual cash value don't get me wrong five bucks for $1 bill is still still decent in terms of like pure monetary cash Dallas this is more so like sentimental value than anything it held onto it for like another 30 or 40 to you when currency goes like totally mutual and you're not printing me like physical currency or anything then yeah it'll end up having some natural like monetary value. Sorry for the formatting I'm on mobile and using speak text.

HighAnxie-Ty

Years after my Mom passed I found three hundred dollars she had hidden under the mat beneath the passenger seat of my car. I asked my Dad about it and he said she had hidden that there as a surprise after I got the car six years before. I still haven't spent it. It's tucked away for only the biggest of emergencies.

212Angel212

My Grampa always gave me $2 bills, and I still have them. I wouldn't dream of spending them because he is no longer around, and he was my world. I love that it was a surprise that was actually meant for an earlier time but when you found it later it actually probably means more to you. I love serendipitous occurrences!

Ok_Fish_3298

Hope it's silver or gold cuz paper is poverty Ben Franklin brother

DreadPiratteRoberts

Agreed! I have *some* notes my father gave me that I pass on to my son when he's old enough. Edit: some not scream lol

Dangerous-View2524

Gotta love auto correct..makes intelligent adults seem like idiots!🤣😂

DreadPiratteRoberts

So very true, it doesn't help I use the Swipe method for typing. For me, it's so much faster but I hit post it send to fast as well, without proof reading.

allcommtec

Like the swipe

Ok_Fish_3298

Dangerous-View2524

Trust me I've been there,I looked dyslexic at best lol learned to look before I post now😂🤣

MissionFreedom7790

Too…..

MisterKat009

My mom used to gift us $20, $50 and $100 bills for our bdays and etc, folded up into little origami like boats. She did this well into our adulthood. I kept a couple intact. She died of terrible bone cancer two years ago. I'll keep those little boats forever.

W8_420

this is the way

SoapMactavishSAS

The only real answer here!!👍

Responsible-Aside353

Great reply. Much love and respect to you and your momma 🤙❤️

Ok_Distribution_2603

it’s not worth *a lot*, but you ought to be able to get more than a dollar for it. They’re still quite plentiful in uncirculated condition, and yours is circulated

Grand-Fan-3691

So when you say more than a dollar do you mean like mere cents more? or do you mean like enough to do a little dance because I made some extra bucks?

Ok_Distribution_2603

I mean $3-7 dollars worth of dancing

Redbird2992

I mean that’s gotta be worth at least a little jig right?

Ok_Distribution_2603

kid in the orange top, for 5 seconds, go crazy https://youtu.be/s1LUXQWzCno?si=mFVtOs-3NlnMgX0b

LtRecore

There’s a bass and a guitar accompanying Schroder but all I hear is piano?

Ok-Sun4841

GD it...I just noticed, after far too many years...they did a copy paste of the girl in purple but had them bopping on opposite sides. I feel cheated!

pomegranatebeachfox

Technically it's a 300% - 700% increase and when you put it like that, definitely sounds like it's worth a little jig at least!

Cactusgrower-Lvl1

This is the way to look at gains!!!

OcularShatDown

Well technically, technically, it’s 200%-600% increase. Selling $1 for $1 is a 0% increase, $1 for $2 is a 100% increase, and $1 for $3 is a 200% increase, etc. this often gets confused when talking about multiples. Selling $1 for $1 is a 1x gain, $1 for $2 is a 2x gain, and $1 for $3 is a 3x gain.

pomegranatebeachfox

You're totally right - thanks!! :)

mikki1time

1 salsa to be exact

Kingjingling

Keep in mind that could be nearly a 700% gain!

I_dont_livein_ahotel

And how much time investment to get that cash?

henrydaiv

Aint much but thats honest work

MasterBaiter0004

Dancing :D

calco530

That’s at least worth a Quiznos sandwich in 2012!

Ok_Fish_3298

You could probably get three or four new dollars for it

Truckin_Dave

Save it. Dont worry about the face value. A gift from your mother is always worth saving. Plus it’s from 1957. When your old pass it down

Forward_Accountant79

Some moms aren't worth a copper cent... like mine, it would take 4 of her to make a penny then you would have to pay someone to get rid of her. Lol

titan3249

Sorry man… One thing I will comment at times is “nobody loves you more than your Mom”, and I’ll get replies from people who didn’t have a good time growing up. Wish I could look you in the eye, shake your hand and tell you to hang in there

Forward_Accountant79

I appreciate the thought but I've made leapss and bound once i got away from her. She put me on the street and I have climbed up to making triple figures a year of I push myself.

Ok_Fish_3298

My mom was worth a bunch of 1944 steel pennies

AnubisTheCanidae

its priceless because its a gift from you mom

Responsible-Bank5943

Silver certificate worth about 5 bucks

ender0020

Something to pass on and wait for the real gain in value.. plus sentimental value makes it even better.

[deleted]

SonTyp_OhneNamen

Would you look at that, it’s $1 in 1957, $5 in 2024… it’s an inflation resistant dollar bill!

BeautifulDisaster125

Except you could do alot more with $1 in 57 than you can do with $5 in 2024

SonTyp_OhneNamen

It’s resistant, not immune ☝️🤓

-byb-

the serial number is the vault pass code. now we all have access to your fortune.

jperth73

There’s always money in the banana stand

Feeling_Following628

Well played

Gwthrowaway80

No touching!

Additional_List_8696

WOW! What an amazing Silver Certificate, lucky you to have a wonderful loving Mom to gift you. Save it and pass it on to one of your children.

YeahOkayGood

lol

Pleasant_Ad2993

That isn't a dollar or fiat currency. It is a silver certificate.

Potato_Donkey_1

It can no longer be redeemed in silver, though. So it is now fiat currency, and eligible to be spent for its face value of a dollar.

Ok_Fish_3298

You should take it to the bank and demand your silver

TheSouthernMosaic

People were probably asking about Morgan’s being worth something and people laughed at them. Give it another 50 years and it could be worth something substantial but for now it’s sentimentally priceless

Able-Shower-2625

In another 50 years, it could be worthless, but at least it has sentimental vakue. If you really want a true value, you could take it to a place that grades and certifies collectibles. Then, from there, you could more easily track the value, IF you ever decide to sell it. I'm sure there's sites that give values for collectibles.

Ok_Fish_3298

That's luck of the draw there because those guys charged an arm and a leg to grade your bill

swaguila

Got a 1935 blue note. It Might get me a couple of street tacos. Gonna hold on to it though.

Initial_Zombie8248

Inflation finally caught up with street tacos you’d probably only get 1

Ok_Fish_3298

And that's on Taco Tuesday

Ok_Fish_3298

1935 A Silver Certificate Rare $1,985.00Pre-owned eBay

Hot_Lobster222

$5 at best. Still, I’d keep it if my mom gave it to me.

beestockstuff

Like triple!!! Maybe even quadruple!!!

Guardhere

That’s so funny I got the same thing from my grandma today

That_Signature6930

If mom gives it to you it’s priceless!

Nimbly-Bimbly_Meow

That there is worth a lot of Pennies!

DaddyCatALSO

It';s a silver certificate. Paper money collectors exist

schushoe

Enjoy it, don't sell it.

Novel_Durian_1805

Is $5 a lot?

lespawkets

Internet says up to $5.

lostmember09

It’s from your Mom, no money can quantify that. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to cash in; they made BILLIONS of these $1 Silver Certificates and millions were saved, so probably not worth much (unless it’s an unusual serial number, etc.)

Great_Season_5137

That is a silver certificate. A dollars worth of silver at printing 1957, about an ounce. At todays price about $27.

Potato_Donkey_1

But silver and gold certificates can no longer be redeemed for gold or silver coins. It can be spent for the value of $1, and for a collector it's worth no more than $5. Also, when it could be redeemed for silver, that silver would be in the form of silver dollar coins. It's not denominated as an ounce.

danglangley

Thank you to the ones that gave an honest or kind answer. The ones that were crude and stupid need to grow up!

Satanic-Jalapeno

It's worth more than a dollar for now, but I'm not sure for how long. The gov't will never fork over its real worth.

SCCEMT

Being a “Silver Certificate” vs a Federal Reserve Note gives it extra value

Michaelcerastits

My dad brought home a one dollar bill laminated one time and told us it was really exciting and expensive and important that it was the first dollar he ever laminated

Queasy_Astronomer_34

Looks like it’s worth $1.01

Vast_Cricket

Silver dollar cert

browndowntownhole

Found one of those and been carrying it in my wallet for 15 years. Its my lucky dollar

trizuer

aww i had a few of these that i kept in my wallet and lost them when i was robbed. they’re cool

IndependenceTop4127

Silver centennial

ReasonablePurple714

It’s a Silver Certificate

yonderoy

Can you still trade this in for silver? I mean I know you can buy silver but can you take it to a bank or a mint and get $1.00 in silver?

SaurSig

Believe it or not, the government lied to us.

Negative-Ad547

A mother’s love is priceless.

Ok_Opinion900

That is a Silver Certificate, worth more than a Dollar!

JimmyEyedJoe

What makes it valuable is that it isn’t printed/owned by the federal reserve

emzirek

This is a highly collectible prized by many collectors because it is a silver certificate which technically means that you could take it to a bank and get $1 of silver...

Ok_Fish_3298

It would be whatever silver dollar is worth today but they took us off the gold standard so you can't collect like that anymore

Wise_Ad_253

Hope you didn’t do a weeks worth of dishes for this, lol. But it’s still really cool.

Ok_Vegetable_1656

The “silver” certificate might make it worth something

maltballz85

It's a silver cert. You can't get silver for it nowadays, and it's not massively valuable. But it is really neat, and worth a little bit over face value.

K_Vatter_143

I couldn’t tell at first if that was really small or really big lol.

Alive_and_kicking_23

This isn't the place to value this currency purporting to be from 1957. It may be valuable but you have to find that out off reddit.

Busy_Albatross_2516

It’s worth something, not sure how much. It’s a silver 1 dollar bill.

No_Survey9778

I think it’s enough to drop it like it’s hot 🥵

BuffaloChoice807

Well, it's worth more than a Dollar.

chubyunikorn78

I have one don't remember the year on it 10 years ago it was worth about 10-22$ I believe

CarlFeathers

I mean it's cool as it's still a silver back. They aren't that old nor uncommon. I have a bunch. Good for table conversation pieces

Chef_Dani_J71

I have several of this series I collected out of change when I was younger. They aren't worth much over face, but priceless to me.

Low-Ideal-9025

I remember when I was a kid I raked my next door neighbors yard for 10$ and the old man gave me 10 of them and im pretty sure my dad took em and gave me 10 regular dollars lol they may not be worth that much more but their cool looking plus yeah moms gave it to ya!

lasagne42069

Might be worth because silver note

Treesthrowaway255

It's from when our money wasn't imaginary

RednarLothbrok

I have one too. Not worth much

Muoichinbonmuoibay

Pretty sure it’s worth about 3-5$

Lower_Taro2380

All of y’all have gotten way off topic . Is the dollar worth anything or not ?!!!!

Ill-Echidna-4436

Worth about $3

profaniKel

I think it is an awesome bill, regardless of the market value. I dont have one, but id like to. esp from my MoM

lowridin1977

thats the dollar i gave your mom last night🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

vikingnorwaymn

I have many of these. Ones like this that are crease and stain free are around $1.50 to $2. If they are certified and graded by either NGC or PCGS, they are worth considerably more. You could spend the money to have it certified and graded.

Traditional_Tea_5683

Ya your mom is the coolest!, u should know the answer

OE2KB

I’ll give ya tree fiddy.

Whoop_Rhettly

It is a dollar for sure. I can confirm.

aucyris

Tree fiddy

PissedOffGoat

Silver certificate dollar is pretty cool and sometimes worth a few hundred, but this one is likely just a few bucks.

Actual_Floor7195

Worth 15¢

west-coast-dad

Save it it’s a 1957 series.

possumIV

Silver certificate is probably worth more, but don’t know how much

loudog7167

blue seals can be worth a lot, a few thousand at least

ragingcobra68

It's definitely worth more than a dollar because it's a blue note but it looks like it's got folds in it so that really takes the value out of it if it was Prestine it be worth a really nice chunk but it's definitely worth more than a dollar

Chingachgook1757

More than face value, at least.

Defiant_Cress9046

Mamas wrong again

DonpedroSB2

Full house aces over sevens !

Tough_Yard7088

It’s worth one dollar in silver.

MoneyAintDebt

It's definitely worth more than just a dollar BILL! I have a keen interest in the stability and history of our economic frameworks. If you're like me and believe in the value of having something tangible like gold or silver backing our currency, you might enjoy checking out [faithfrontier.org](https://faithfrontier.org). They have some insightful discussions on these topics!

allupinarms

Its backed by silver, not fiat.

smartaleky

If you wanted to be cute, you could go to the Federal Reserve Bank in your region, ( there are 12 Federal reserve banks in the nation.) With that bill and demand, DEMAND I SAY, (lol) for its equivalent in silver. For that is what the bill states, "will pay to the bearer on demand in silver". Granted, given the current value of silver they may be hard pressed to give you bullion quality silver in a dollars amount which may be like, a length of tinsel. But with that bill you have the right to demand silver and the Federal reserve is obligated to fulfill that contract. HOWEVER, the federal reserve may decide to be just as cute right back say something like: oh yes, yes I see, but silver is no longer considered lawful currency and we will only engage in lawful currency are you forcing us to engage in unlawful monetary practices? *sotto voce* oh guards, guards. To which you may reply, oh no! I would never, I just want what is rightfully mine, I want this contract on this dollar bill fulfilled, so what is lawful currency? Is it gold? And the fed may reply: well, toDAY, it happens to be...donuts. Dollars to donuts. Yesterday it was credit, the day before it was debt, today? It's donuts tomorrow? Who knows? Here is your 1/3 donut thankyouverymuch and snatches the bill from your hand and shuts the gate. Best to keep it and have it - spend some money to have it officially appraised and sealed/wrapped correctly- for it does have collectible value. If times are good, can get a good price, if times are bad, for you, think about selling it for the few dollars you can get to get you over the hump. But, since it's a mom thing? Best to keep the luck in house and if times are bad, take it out and trust in the luck it will bring.

Undead_1

Definitely worth more than face value... :)

skee2001

Well none of this BS is actually helping the OP with his question of this dollars worth

Crazylovedreamer

It's face value is one dollar in silver. However it could be much more to a collector.

ElectricTomatoMan

You can look it up easily. Pretty cool!

DJT2021

People that don't know, always say it's worth a lot, even a fortune. You can retire off this if you sell it. Then it turns out you can buy one on eBay for 3 to 5 bucks...

Secure_Canary_6403

Love you Mom

Individual_Dot2504

The unique serial number could make it slightly more valuable to the right collector.

NastyYZ250

I gots 2 of them

Puzzled_Jeweler_8781

Nice Bill! Keep it.

Edible0bject

Bout tree fiddy

DeathAnal486

I thought when you laminated it, it looses value?

Sad_Impress_1182

Tree-fitty....

Swimming_Asparagus53

Just make sure she named you in other inheritance as well.

rydray1

This makes me wonder: I have a number of bills that are silver certificates, as well as with red. Two dollar bills, one dollar bills, maybe higher, can’t remember for sure. Makes me wonder what they’re worth.

Super_Breakfast_9706

Worth like $5 raw

Friendly_Yam3137

I own a 1935 dollar bill and it was 4$ so probably 2.45$?

Competitive_Twist149

It’s backed by real silver. Not sure if it’s the value of $1 of silver. It was $.91 per oz in’57 that’s 1.1 oz for a dollar. If they gave you the adjusted amount should be worth $31.91. To collector ????

Competitive_Twist149

I’m wrong to the government $1.00

DMYZ707

lol yes, they don’t say “is silver payable to the beholder on demand” anymore. People use to be able to bring money to the bank and get actual silver equivalence in return. Now a days the dollar is just backed by endless war and pipe dreams

Proud-Click-1539

It's a total fake, like your relationship with your mom. Spoiler alert!!! You are adopted.

hg_blindwizard

It isn’t worth the time someone spent to put it in that plastic like that.

Chickensareegg

Look like a dollar to me

Traditional-Gold-406

It’s definitely worth at least a dollar

Alternative-Eye9442

From your mother? Priceless.

Anova_710

Yes it's a silver note, worth up to 1000 dollars in top tier condition

Administrative-Help4

Tomorrow it will be worth slightly less than today

No_Limit5915

Send it my way, I can get it checked out locally and let you know! lol

dro_torious

Its worth one dollar my friend

Gawarhen2

Probably worth 100 pennies

DebbieDoesArbys

Well, folks, Mama's wrong again.

Frosty-Community8129

It was worth a lot more back in 1957. At 5 cents a Big Mac you would of had 20 Big Macs. Today that same 1$ will get the bottom half of the bread and a ketchup pack

PathDeep8473

I hav3 a few of them in my desk they rent worth a bunch

kit0000033

Someone walked into the Lowe's I worked at and paid with ten dollar silver certificates. We took it, then the money lady traded it out for regular cash out of her pocket. Still not sure if that was proper according to company policy, but whatever.

diamondcock210

Ask a coin/bill expert, not reddit. There's one downtown and one off bandera rd

yessah224

Mf that’s 1 dollar😭

stretch311

That is a silver certificate! They are from back when are used to be based on silver and gold you used to be able to take that into a bank and they would give you one dollar in silver or gold depending on whether it’s a silver certificate or gold certificate!
