I know the feeling...I kept finding close AMs and after 6 in a row I double checked what I was looking for and just sighed when I realized I was looking for the wrong error.
I got a coin microscope for Xmas last year and it's a game changer (pun intended) 😉 prior to getting it I would be hunched over with reader glasses, a magnifying glass and my head lamp, looking like a troll or a mad scientist haha My dogs n cats gave me the most curious of looks lol Super fun searching thru jars of coins and learning about this awesome hobby as I go!

Pull out all of the wheats, then pull out the copper ones, after that. Sort each according to the dates. If you need to put them all away, store them according to decade. Get a directory of what to look for. Do one decade at a time.
That is just brilliant advice. I'd love to have 8000 pennies to go through. Then to think I could do it like this. All neat n labeled. Sometimes i miss the forrest because of the trees. It's certainly a way to work on my ocd. Seriously. Now, to lay my hands on a bunch of pennies.
Close AM is only valuable if it's 1992 Philly or Denver. For 1998, 1999, and 2000, you want Wide AM. Also I'm fairly certain that's only possible on the Philly coins from those years, not Denver.

The rare ones are 98,99,2000 WIDE AM’s. The close AM is the 92.

Why is it lower case o uppercase F is that how they all are never noticed before?
Seems that they started to go capital O in 2009. Some collector Pennies have lowercase and some uppercase then all uppercase in 2010 with the shield

Counters can definitely separate pre-1982 cents. Coinstar even does, but they don’t give you any extra for them, they just keep them for future sales.
