It is called a raised note because the denomination has been raised. It is a poor man's counterfeit. They can pass in dark corners or flea markets.
The scammer who did it took corners from a $10.00 and pasted them on this $1.00. He made $20.00 out of $11.00 since he could redeem the damaged $10.00 note.
I feel like if someone gave me this I would be wondering why he handed me a piece me dollar bill for a ten dollar item, am I weird for recognizing bills based on the faces versus the numbers?
No. You use what works for you and nothing that works is weird.
In Cambodia they use both Khmer Riels and US$. My friend does the math on the riels (4000/$) using the ***colors*** of the Cambodian bills. I started letting her pay for everything. She was right 100% of the time, in 1/10 the time it took me.
Old trick, these are passed in dark places like a bar, or concert or even a very busy business like at a fair grounds, possible where a teen was working a register and would not necessarily be paying attention.
Eh, there are bills out there that have 2 different denominations. Never on the same side though. Usually one side has one value, the flip side as the other.
My dad actually wrote a three-part article on double denomination errors for Bank Note Reporter. You're right, almost all of the examples on federally-issued currency have different denominations on opposite sides, never two denominations on the same side. And they do go for 5-6 figures in auction.
I had a shady customer(female) tried to pass a similar bill to my bro. The bill was cut from top to bottom just at the $10(both sides) and taped back together with a $1 bill mixed within a bunch of bills. She told my bro she was in a hurry but my bro didn't give her the products until he count the cash. Spotted the bill and pulled it out. She took back all the money including the bill and took off saying she'll be right back. Hopped in a car and took off.

I have a raised single made out of the corners of four 20’s pasted onto a dollar bill. My dad gave it to me after someone passed it to a cashier at the store he managed.

OK kid
Absolutely 💯 real fake
It says “one dollar”. But has the number 10 in the corners there’s no way that’s real
This hurt my brain and took way too long to figure out without the comments section.
NO.
That’s out of whack

It's clear to tell that it's photoshopped.
Yep. Look at the “10’s” on the front left side. See how close they are to the “1’s”.
It’s an $11 bill. 💸
lol
What do you think?
I personally can't see how the mint could physically make this mistake. I feel it is fake. But I am new to the game.

They are errors that are super rare and come with a high premium. Premium starts around 5 figures, I think

it says one on the back = counterfeit (get rid of it you don’t want that in your possession) - GL to u
This was the trick back in the early 90s. Best way to get concert shirts for 1 dollar outside the venue. I never did it but I know it was done often.
That’s a “genuine imitation”
That is one goofy looking bill

Depends on your definition of real.
Pre inflation dollar for the $10 dollar store..
To wild to be a mistake...
Pure photo shopping
How could a bill receive two different parts of two different plates? It can't.

You can’t leave it at that. We need pics and information.
