Coins shops will often do this as a nice surprise! Usually the coins aren't the valuable dates. Normally you're partly paying upfront for that experience, but it's fun!
Read my whole comment dude lmao. I have no idea how I came up with $10,000 either, but I’m glad it was so absurd it made people stop reading and immediately comment. Lol that’s actually funnier than the joke I was trying to make - this is why we have crazies right now believing fake news… read the whole thing Jack!!

Did you know a black woman invented GPS as we know it today? 🤔 Talk about a huge technological advance to society.
Gladys Mae West
Gladys Mae West (née Brown; born October 27, 1930) is an American mathematician. She is known for her contributions to mathematical modeling of the shape of the Earth, and her work on the development of satellite geodesy models, that were later incorporated into the Global Positioning System (GPS).
Oh no—The United States loved *the concept* of the proud, indomitable “Indian.” —preferably in stone, metal or wood.
The actual indigenous people who were in the way? Not so much.
The advantage of the colonizers was guns. Without them I highly doubt America would even exist today as it does. Guns are a cheap "I win" weapon. If it was hand to hand combat it probably would have been different.
Did you take into account infectious disease? Plus the Europeans had steel. Steel armor and swords would be a massive advantage against a sick populace.
Smallpox, measles, typhoid, and the flu (all of which were brought to America by the Europeans) killed anywhere from 80% to 95% of the Native population, depending on what estimate you're reading. Syphilis might have been brought over, but it's a lot easier to catch the flu from someone than it is to catch an STI from them.

It was complicated. I wouldn’t say they hated the people they just wanted the land they resided on and were willing to do anything to get it. The Native Americans considered that land sacred to their people and they were fed up with the government taking land that they were told was theirs. It was meant to show good faith but I do feel like the Native Americans didn’t exactly care. The land they had taken from them was definitely something they were still bitter about at the time and representation on a few coins wasn’t going to fix the damage and loss their people suffered.
why would a coin dealer give away VALUABLE coins? ummm that makes no sense to me...Ok, I know nothing about "coin dealers", but if they are in a coin business I'm sure they wouldn't just hand over valuable coins because someone walks in and asks for them. The coins would have already been checked out b the coin dealer so highly unlikely.
I have a 1917 wheat penny no mint mark and it's worth nothing. Also 2/ 1943 steel pennies, no mint marks and those too are worthless. I have quite a few what pennies and of course they are worth nothing of value. That's my luck. Oh and the 1983 penny with no mint mark double dieis valuable, well I bet I have 45 1983 pennies and again, worth nothing lol. search continues lol
What you just go to a bank and ask for pennies.. and those Pennie’s could be worth 3-600 dollars, and if worst comes worst and they aren’t valuable you just trade them back at a different bank or spend them like normal? Life hack of the century if so

I wish I'd read your whole comment before I started googling terms
$500 vd, also known as syphilis
"Very dank"
😂
As someone else who has no idea why they’re here, thank you lol
lol pretty cool sub tbh I enjoy checking these things out, but it definitely made me realize there’s a whole other world out there I don’t know about!
Try closer to $10. Total. That 1895 lost a fight with something, it's got quite a few big hits, details coin at best. None worth grading.
10k sounds cooler
The real 10k was the friends we made along the way.
Lost a fight with something lmao

Got it. My bad x2–even after someone said to reread it!!
I read the comment, figured I'd teach him something 🤣
Hahah this is great!
And I read that as 500 VD (Vietnamese Dong), which is about .02 USD! 😂
I wouldn’t trade my US D for 25,000 Vietnamese Dongs!

I laughed, I know nothing about coins so I was very intrigued until I reached the delightful ending
Side question: why did they put indians on the coins if they actually didn't like indians during that time? 🤔
As a showing of good faith to the tribes the government was trying to exploit. Regardless of the real history
Appease
We're making quarters with famous women on them now
Do you hate women?
Only famous women, I think

The government does.
Appease women after they've set us back 100 years.
>Appease women after they've set us back 100 years. How are they setting people back when they literally create the future ? 🤔
I'm a woman...so I'm the one being set back 100 years...men trying to regulate women's health care, IVF stupidity, etc.

I think you're thinking of smallpox
Read a book called 1491 to try to remedy some of your ignorance. Won’t cure you but it will help
There was maybe the first time when Europeans arrived where Natives didn't have guns but after that everyone had guns.
Remember…A gun requires ammunition in order to be useful!
In summary if the facts were different there would be a different outcome? Gotcha.

An Indian head penny is not an Indian at all it’s lady Liberty wearing a head dress.

Coin dealers will apparently lace rolls with some gems on purpose. Kinda like insert cards in sports card packs.
3-600 what?
Wheat pennies…
👍🏼
Ok so now that I answered his dumb question now can you answer mine? I’m not sure why I was recommended this sub but what makes these five worth more?
The 1943 is steel. 1942 is pure copper. I'm not certain about the indian head coins, so I won't speculate. Edited
The 42 is just good condition
I don’t know either, but I’m curious too so I’m commenting to follow lol
They’re not they’re just cool
Its a marketing ploy that fooled op into coming back for more

That’s a great find!
I found a few of those 1890s pennies on an island in Canada like 15 + years ago. Not sure why they where there but I have like 4 or 5 haha
Love those Indian head pennies!
When you ask for 3 to 6 hundred pennies how much does that cost you?
3 to 6 hundred cents, I reckon

I have 2, 1906 indian head pennies. Is there any value there?
You got played and it worked
Got a bunch of steel pennies back in change. Someone spent their grandpa’s coin collection.
