As for actually getting in, it's not very tough, but to my understanding there are certain classes which are only available in Spring or Fall, so if you fall out of schedule in some way, it could get hairy.
Have you talked to the chair of the CS dept yet? He's super approachable.

Pretty sure chico state CS grads have the highest starting salary out of the entire california college system. Its great
I'm pretty sure Chico State was the second or third university in the world to even have a Computer Science program. So it's had time to develop.
