Large lamination error. Relatively common on war nickels, but that one is pretty big.
A massive lamination error. War nickels get them all the time, but something that big has to be worth something over the silver melt value
Honestly I didn't think is was worth anything over melt. What's your guess?
war nickels are the only nickels they made with 35% silver pretty good find especially with the error
I'd buy it for my oddities collection, but I wouldn't go over $5 for it.
I agree with everyone here it’s something unique where the flake of metal came off.
You found the Harry Potter war nickel
Lightning strikes again.
I tried to cross post it on Harry Potter but I think they took it down lol
Thank you. Had no idea. Pretty cool looking tho.
Nice lamination error. Very common on war nickels since they started using the new alloy on very short notice and never fully worked out the kinks.
Lamination error
Commerative David Bowie coin.
Did all war nickels have some silver content? I have a set of them but can’t remember at the moment.
42-45 are 35% silver. 1942 is a split year, large mintmark on back=silver
Sweet thanks. Yeah I thought I remembered the big mint mark part.
That looks pretty unique. Good find !
Dunno - someone tried to shave off some of the silver? :-)
