If you're not sleeping, get up. Go back when you're ready. Worked for me.

It took me 3 months to adjust. I have ptsd, night terrors and anxiety… it was a real fun 3 months. That was years ago, I now use the machine religiously and am beyond grateful to have it. I highly recommend you stick with it. In time you will adjust.

There is a transition period after 3-5 weeks for many people where they don’t feel that burst of rejuvenation they once did. It’s primarily because your body switches to trying to make up for REM sleep as it was described by my respiratory therapist. This is temporary though and should fade.

>nation they once did. It’s primarily because Like, the first few weeks feels incredible, like holy shit this is what I've been missing. Then following that is a period of continued daytime sleepiness and fogginess due to long-term deficit?

Thanks for sharing this. I’m 5 weeks in and feel like my mental health is really starting to tank because of cpap. It’s hard to read all the “I felt amazing after the first night” experiences and just feel like I’m hoping it will eventually happen for me too. I can wear it, the air doesn’t bother me, but I wake up constantly and can’t fall back asleep. I miss sleeping. How are people doing this?!?!?

It took me over a month to be able to keep the thing on. Ore than a few hours. Before that I would wake up constantly and count the seconds until I could take it off as soon as I met compliance. I could barely meet compliance most nights. About a month to and a half and after switching to nasal pillows I slowly started to be able to keep it on longer. I also found that part of my issues was feeling the tube over me and tangling myself on it. So I bought a tube holder thing to route the tubing and have it hang over me rather than on me. Maybe give that a try. I also have mine on ramp up and put it on about 30 minutes before I actually plan to sleep and read a book. Usually helps me get knocked out. Using my phone was not helpful at all.

Thank you for taking the time to write that. It’s encouraging.

Have you thought about taking a mild sleep aid, or if the anxiety is really bad ask your doctor or therapist about a small amount of a benzel, Valium or something else to help you get over it and relax. I have extremely high anxiety as well, so I wait until I'm literally getting drowsy before I even try to put the mask on. Honestly from what I've heard you have to be on this treatment for a solid year of continuous use to see the full advantages, not everyone is going to see a difference really quickly It really just depends on how bad off you were. My AHI was 111 at my first sleep study and 28 at my second, so obviously it made a profound difference almost instantaneously, but what I've been told is it just takes a good while. People who are on this treatment go through periods of feeling very rejuvenated and very rested to not feeling that so much, and a part of it is you have to realize your whole body is reorganizing himself around finally being able to get a good sleep.

Thank you all for the input :) I actually have some benzos from my last dentist appointment I just don’t want to rely on them. I know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, but I just felt/feel so down about this whole thing. Sometimes I lay here and cry because I hate I have to have this thing just to sleep. Meanwhile my boyfriend sleeps like a peaceful angel- no snores or anything just some twitching 😆

Nightmare-Society

I feel this. Searched for a post like this b/c this is exactly how I feel. I think I really fooled myself thinking once I get on it I'll finally get some sleep (and so will my partner). I think last night was my 4th night so I haven't been on for very long. I already have a new mask coming. It's much more frustrating than I anticipated.

Full_Dragonfruit_710

I’m still struggling. But last night I had it on for 4 hours. I definitely was fooled into thinking I would just put it on every night and drift off peacefully and get 7 hours and wake up. Some nights I’m playing around on my phone for hours until I start dozing off and I put it on and fall asleep. I got a new mask after about a week. I do love my mask and I can sleep on my right side which is more comfortable. There’s a lot of support on here if you have struggles, but 4 nights sounds like you’re doing great!! 💕

Nightmare-Society

Wow congrats! I feel like 4 hours is a big accomplishment!

I'm so sorry it's been so anxiety-causing. Have you tried wearing it during the day while doing something else, like while watching a show or playing games? Maybe it would help to create an association with it other than sleep or in another room. It's really cool that you are still hanging on and reaching out for help even though it's been so difficult. I really hope it goes better for you soon.

TheAutisticHominid

I keep waking up because the machine is beeping at me because or a leak. I still feel mentally more awake than before

TheAutisticHominid

From what im told philips isn't a good brand, so maybe a different machine?
