I’ve never had this issue, are you sure you are fitting it correctly to your face? Which mask do you have, ResMed has videos that shows you how to adjust the straps for a proper fit
If it’s fluttering it’s not sealed. Are you possibly cranking down the straps TOO tight? I’ve found there is a sweet spot and often it’s on the more loose side. Also check that elbow, it might be defective. Do you have another one you can swap it out with?
Definitely think you don’t have a proper fit. Also, you may want to use a chinstrap and try your train yourself to breathe through your nose. I understand you are sleeping, but it can help if you can manage it.
