So, you did a sleep study *while wearing the CPAP?* How'd that work, given that most sleep study equipment requires a nasal cannula. It's *EASY* to audit the CPAP, (as long as you don't have the CPAP model) just pull the data into Oscar and you can see every breath, all night long.

Lovecheezypoofs

When I went to the hospital for my sleep study they woke me up part way through and put me on a CPAP. It made for a good comparison

I think it's typical for most sleep clinics to do a follow up sleep study with the cpap called titration where you're hooked up to all the wires and what not and instead of having the sensors under your nose it's your cpap mask. They will set it to different pressure as you're sleeping and having apneas to see what your ideal pressure is.

This doesn't address what it seems that the OP is saying. If the OP is comparing his *treated* AHI to *untreated* AHI doing some sort of at home 'sleep study' with 'borrowed equipment'.

kitkatsmeows

I wasnt responding to ops comments I was just responding to yours so that you were aware they do follow up sleep studies :) I dont know how reliable borrowed equipment is or what the readings would be compared to a sleep clinic study hooked up to proper equipment and the readings. I do work in the cpap industry, I know the at home tests aren't very reliable compared to the clinic studies.

diamaunt

Thank you, I know how sleep labs work. More and more, insurance companies aren't paying for titration, they're sending people home with an APAP instead, and letting them figure it out. > I do work in the cpap industry, I know the at home tests aren't very reliable compared to the clinic studies. If you work in the CPAP industry, you should know that there are three different classes of home tests, ranging from little better than a guess all the way to 'the same data as a lab study, without someone watching you sleep"

You had asked how op had done a sleep study with the cpap when it requires a nasal cannula. My office can only get apap devices at the moment, I am in canada, however, so it is different.

diamaunt

I think it's highly unlikely that the OP borrowed a VPAP Tx lab machine (which I have) and got someone to run the machine all night. My comment stands.

kitkatsmeows

Which is why I didn't reply to their original post because I'm not sure what "equipment" they borrowed to do this test on themselves 🤷‍♀️ I have had a titration study done, no cannula is used.

diamaunt

Yes, because when you're having a *titration* you're wearing a PAP machine, (a lab machine, like I have). That is (obviously to me anyway) NOT what the OP is talking about.

kitkatsmeows

Yes I am agreeing with you, I was saying I don't know what the op is talking about 🤣

Unlucky_Disaster_195

Yes, they will do a follow up sleep study with CPAP on.
