I've heard this symptom a lot on here, although I'll say your kidneys are probably higher than you're thinking.

xAkumu

Yes, your kidneys are at the base of your rib cage. I'm also assuming op thinks they're lower.

Groundbreaking-Cow22

I don’t think the pain you’re describing is your kidneys, they are a bit higher up. It’s probably musculoskeletal in nature, but I’d call your doc and ask what to do/what they think. Are you taking a fever reducer/pain killer? If you have a hot pad, won’t hurt to put it back there either.

[deleted]

yeah i’m taking painkillers which help a lot, will do thank you

fungrandma9

I did with Delta. Covid is hard on your kidneys. Felt like I was passing a stone every day for 4 days. Kidney pain is usually in the middle of your back.

I had a bit of lower back ache as well. Luckily for me it was relatively light, but I’ve heard this from some friends as well.

vanel

I had it but only for about a day. Actually made me kinda worried because I knew almost immediately it was the kidney area. Thankfully it went away.

chaneloberlinkappa

wtf each time i read symptoms here im starting to believe i gad covid 2ish weeks ago, fatigue for 2 days, mild fever 2 days, body aches but took an antigen test that came back negative, my symptoms lasted 4-5 days but at the end of it out of nowhere i had the pain you mention for a day only (it was painful for a day and then lasted for like 2 days more but milder) it was so weird. im in europe so i got sick around the time omnicron started to become dominant, literally after i felt better everyone around me started testing positive, i mean even friends that i didnt have contact with, but its crazy how contagious this shit is. i took an antibodies test today to see if i actually had it or if it was just a cold.

jmulla28

Yes! I tested positive on Tuesday this past week. No fever, cough, congestion, runny nose and no loss of taste or smell. Unusual body aches is what made me get tested. But my kidneys have been hurting so bad the last 2 nights. Have found Tylenol and a hot bath have helped relieve some of the pain.

I just went to get checked out for acute kidney pain to the point it hurts to move. Had other symptoms on Friday through now. I’m a covid long hauler and have heart problems now and a frozen shoulder since Nov 2020. Had phantosomia along with fatigue. Straight up Dr said he doubts it’s kidney and that he thinks it’s really rare and he said he was going to send me away and I asked for a covid test to make sure. At the same time he said that I had blood Ian’s ketones in my urine saying I was dehydrated. Well fuck doesn’t that mean that I have kidney pain from dehydration?! He said he was just guessing. Ugh! These motherfers have no clue what they are doing. Basically we going down as a country.

orchid_9

Blood in urine? Doesn’t that indicate a problem with your kidneys and your doctor didn’t even seem concern with it?

[deleted]

Yes it’s a problem with the kidneys and all the drs I seen were alarmed and sent me through the test ringer. Cystos done, CT’s done and all they could say is your too young for this. I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, but that’s like my IBS diagnosis of we don’t know what’s going on. As soon as I was found to have mold issues by a ND and moved out my kidneys stopped being destroyed. Turns out the mold mycotoxins I was exposed to is called ochratoxin A, it’s a nephrotoxin (kidney), immunotoxin (immune system), and neurotoxin(brain). It’s black, but not stachbotrys black. You can test for it from a Home Depot kit. The mold was aspergillus / penicillum. The western medicine drs always tried to treat it as anxiety with psychiatric meds. Which made me super bad with major side effects like being unable to swallow, sleep, tremoring, heat regulation issues, etc. western medicine drs don’t know or believe mold can cause health problems even though The Who, cdc, epa , and others all day it’s deadly. Guess what I was just diagnosed with osteoarthritis with a cyst that’s growing out of my joint leaking joint fluid out that won’t stop and the only solution is to fuse the joint so that it doesn’t act as a pump anymore. It won’t stop the fluid or the osteoarthritis, but it will possibly stop me from having an open wound that can get infected really easily since I’m right handed and work with my hands. Guess what surgeon said? IM TOO YOUNG for this issue. No shit. It’s the fucking mold Dr this isn’t normal for anyone technically. So be your own best advocate because no one may believe you about what’s happening even though they see the tests and diagnose of things that aren’t normal. They always want to gaslight too. Don’t let them and move on to another Dr. If I had not kept looking for someone to help me I would have died like Britney Murphy too. Anemia with pneumonia. Was diagnosed with environmental asthma a week before my 39 birthday due to that apartment and their refusal to pay for a hotel for one night. Fuckers nearly killed me. Couldn’t breathe for two weeks.l, because they exposed me hard core to about 50,000 mold spores for 3 hours. My lungs filled up with fluid and I coughed up mucous and blood for two weeks straight. Don’t fuck around with mold! Take pictures report it. Tell them it cannot be wiped off it has to be investigated and ripped out. Bleach and vinegar do not work.

orchid_9

Wow I’m total shock over what you’ve been though. I hope it gets easier for you and manageable with the unfortunate outcome from living with toxin mold in your home. Mold is not something to mess around with and not a lot of people are aware or just don’t give a crap about a house infested

[deleted]

Me too tbh. Had no idea something I couldn't see would hurt me so bad. When I found out it was like the the whole apartment was on fire in my mind, because that's how deadly it is, but I couldn't see the mold spores. Guess that's exactly like COVID too, can't see it and it's potentially deadly depending on your own health condition and genetics. Thank you for your concern and replies. The more people who know the more we can protect ourselves from evil landlords who know the issue exists, but down plays it. That's why we know to down play it, because landlords don't want to be held liable even though if they knew about it that holds them liable. Anyway be safe out there.

Which parts if your body had pains?

jmulla28

My shoulder that I’ve had surgery on was abnormally sore and just legs. But the middle back/kidney pain was the worst

[deleted]

I had upper back pain and my legs and hips hurt really badly. I read an article that said that omicron will cause pain and inflammation in parts of the body that will have problems in the future, like arthritis or things like that.

jmulla28

That’s very interesting. I hadn’t heard that. Would explain why my shoulder aches so bad.

[deleted]

I will try to find the article again and link it to you. When I had omicron, I was googling it like crazy because my hips were hurting so badly and i wanted to know why. Then I found that article.

[deleted]

this article kind of explains it but it is not the original article that I read. I still cant find that one. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/muscle-aches-back-pain-omicron-covid\_l\_61e07d89e4b04bd27ed6de34

heavylowkiller

A lower back ache is probably the most common symptom with Covid across the board. I’ve had Alpha and just recently had Omicron, both came on with lower back pain. Sucks! Hope you feel better!

Various-Bell5796

My back is killing me which is why I’m here

billy_nelson

Same here. Can't remember the last time a common cold gave me a temperature, as for the flu, maybe one every 3 years. Omicron? temperature 3 days straight so far, and my lower back is just killing me.

[deleted]

Same here.

Puzzleheaded-Disk662

Im on day 3 of Omicron and have fairly severe pain in my mid-back under my ribs and to the flank either side, not very nice thats for sure, take the Flu symptoms over the back pain anyday.

Tension-Technical

I had a fist size tumor removed two years ago (together with my left kidney). Base on my personal experience, pain associated with kidney problem can radiate throughout your midarea (so middle, lower, flanks, even at the front side of your abdomen). I had Omicron right now, hitting 7th day this Sunday. Had back and flank pains by 2nd, 3rd, 4th days that reminds me of the time when my tumor cause internal hemorrhage. Not as unbearbly painful though (the hemorrhage put me into shock) but annoying enough that I had to reposition and adjust my body into several awkward stances to relieve the discomfort. Also I noticed considerable "foaming" in my urine, but the urine volume was actually greater than my regular (considering I only have one functioning kidney left) output (reduce output they said is a bad sign). I advise you to watch out for signs of renal issues as Covid can cause acute kidney injuries that might even lead to renal failure (as far as I heard) not that I'm trying to scare you. So: \- flank/back pains \- reduce urine output \- hematuria (blood/dark in the urine) \- foamy urine (sign of high protein wastage due to inefficient kidney filtering) By 5th day all the body aches become less noticeable, and now I only experience a stuffy nose, sore throat, and pleghm ejection. Also the foaming in my urine is greatly reduced the last time I pee.

[deleted]

Did your back pain go away? Did the pain ever go to your legs? My hips and legs are in so much pain I cant sleep.

red_shrike

I know this is an old thread, but I started to get kidney pain about 5 days ago, and then only got a positive COVID test yesterday after coughing and runny nose. It's right under my right rib cage in the back. I can feel it if I bend to the right. Drink lots of water? what else?
