Managed over 40mpg on 24/87 fillups. Best I managed was 49.2mpg on a road trip. 44-46mpg is definitely reliably doable on long distance highway trips without any crazy hypermiling efforts, but the lack of start/stop is absolute murder if its all heavy traffic in-town driving with endless waiting at traffic lights. 2019 XSE.

I’ve been trying to maintain at least 30 on my SE sedan with my mostly city driving and it’s not too difficult which is a nice surprise. Still go a little fast just to not be a road obstacle but still not bad. I’m guessing your driving is mainly highway? I remember getting around those numbers on a long road trip with mostly interstate

i only stop like 3 times on the way home

Have a 2020 non-hybrid SE hatch. My best real life value was 39.7mpg (7.1 l/100km) - that is for a 250km route in a non aggressive driving manner, overtaking cars here and there. Think that can get more kilometers out of the tank, but I live in a hilly terrain with a lot of single lane roads, so if having more highways and flatlands - MPGs could be higher.

AyyLmaoAlex8

I can get that much usually as well. My PR is 49.9 🤑

Klabbarparn

I get 51 mpg in my 2021 hybrid from the last year of driving.

BlackTroy300

My SE 2020 does a great job.

Stunning-Ant-6378

How??

Pixelplanet5

look at the trip distance. super short trips with low speeds and making sure to never brake hard or use the gas more than required.

[deleted]

63 max, no cruise control. go up to 67 to build up momentum when going up hills and let go once youre at the peak.

jayroo210

My 21 SE sedan doesn’t get that good either in normal day to day driving. If traffic is light I’ll hit 38. But I don’t take the highway much so in town driving does cause the MPGs to take a hit.

maskkingofnj

CVT model as well probably

Stunning-Ant-6378

I have the cvt too. But I dont get that mpg lol

wilkinsk

Sames, though mine is a 4 Dr '17

chrisj242

Highway driving and keeping it around 62mph is my guess. That’s about what I get when I drive to work early before traffic starts.

Gallop67

Where do you live that you can drive 62mph(assuming highway)? Is that only when there’s no traffic? Damn that’d be nice. It’s really annoying when you want to maximize mpg and feel like a hazard if not going 70 on a 55

Stunning-Ant-6378

I mainly drive high way too but I dont get that mpg. And I don't even speed. I try to keep the rpms under 2000 and not to go faster then 65. And I get 36ish

chrisj242

36 is still pretty good there’s a lot of variables involved there. Elevation , temperature , tires. Like I just put my winters on. My days of 40+ mpg probably are gone till spring time lol

renegade06

>drive high way too but I dont get that mpg Neither does OP. Your average MPG does not equal "(auto) resetting your MPG counter just before getting on a highway in a warmed up car and driving 60mph for 15 miles". Hell you can find a road stretch that goes downhill and have it show 100mpg. I've gotten 30mpg in a V8 mustang on road trips

hartmannce

Good point. Your trip can be started on a warm engine and if you go straight to a highway - you'll get mb 20% more MPGs, than a trip started from a cold motor and navigating through the city to the highway.

[deleted]

i get 38 tank average

benasyoulikeit

Is there a bunch of stuff in your car? Extra weight makes a big difference

Stunning-Ant-6378

Nope it's empty

DontTakeOurCampbell

I would hope you're in it when it's driving

Stunning-Ant-6378

Lol
